Minor girl gangraped by five youths in Mathura

A minor girl was allegedly gangraped by five youths near a school here, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon under the Sadar Bazar police station.

“The accused will be nabbed shortly. The medical examination of the girl has been conducted and she has been sent for test to Agra,” SSP Nitin Tewari said.

The girl had gone near the school with a boy known to her family.

In the FIR, the girl has alleged that the five youths came there and overpowered them. They then beat up the boy and forced him to leave the spot.

Three Left parties form a grand alliance in Bihar to counter BJP

The Left describes the alliance between the JD(U), RJD and Congress as “opportunistic”.
Patna, July 29:

Describing the JD(U), RJD and Congress tie-up as “opportunistic”, the three major Left parties in Bihar on Tuesday formed an alliance to contest the Assembly by-polls on 10 seats in the State.

Under the seat sharing agreement, CPI(ML) will contest five seats, while the CPI(M) and CPI will fight on three and two seats, respectively, State secretaries of the three Left parties told reporters at a joint press conference here.

Gold prices decline to Rs 27,779 at futures trade

Gold futures prices fell 0.55 per cent to Rs 27,779 per 10 grams today as speculators offloaded their positions amid a weak global trend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold prices for delivery in August fell Rs 155 or 0.55 per cent to Rs 27,779 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 99 lots.

Similarly, the metal prices for delivery in far-month October declined Rs 112 or 0.4 per cent to Rs 27,911 per ten grams in 102 lots.

Maoists erect martyrs’ memorial in Khammam

Maoists erected a makeshift martyrs’ memorial in Chintur mandal, of Bhadrachalam area, in Khammam district. Villagers told that around 200 armed CPI Maoist belonging to Sabari forest area of Chhattisgarh, erected a memorial made of posters. It is said to be the first of its kind incident during the past 14 years.

The Maoists reportedly hung banners in Telugu and Hindi calling upon people to actively participate in Martyr Memorial Week being observed by Maoists. Local people are apprehensive over the incident while police have not visited the area so far.

I thought I was dying, says Sharon Stone post brain surgery

Sharon Stone, who earlier suffered a brain aneurysm , said that she thought she was dying even after she came home from hospital.

Speaking on Oprah’s Master Class, the 56-year-old actress said that she was being wheeled down the hallway at one point, on a gurney, and she woke up and thought what’s going on and then a young intern said that they were taking her for a brain surgery, the Daily Express reported.

The ‘Basic Instinct’ star said that when she woke up she had to learn to walk, hear, write, talk, remember and everything all over again.

Girl killed for honour in Muzaffarnagar

In a suspected case of honour killing, a 22-year-old girl was shot dead allegedly by her brother who was opposed to her relationship with a boy in Loee village in the district.

The girl was shot dead by her brother Arshad following heated arguments over the matter yesterday, Deputy SP R N Sharma told reporters Thursday.

The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Police have launched a hunt for the absconding accused.

Uninor enters Guinness Book of World records

Uninor company which provides telecom services has taken it into the Guinness Book of World Records by opening 362 retail outlets at the same time in one day. CMO Rajiv Sethi told that the credit goes to its retailers and customers.

Currently, Uninor has 1100 operational stores. By opening of these additional stores, it takes its overall footprint to 1480 stores. To expand its network Uninor has announced an investment of 500 crores.

Sensex trades flat

Anxiety over the Reserve Bank of India’s ability to ease interest rates early next month weighed heavy on Indian equities markets Thursday as a benchmark index was trading flat in the morning session.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) which opened at 26,105.89 points, was trading at 26,076.49 points around 10.30 a.m. down 10.93 points or 0.04 percent, from its previous close at 26,087.42 points.

New research indicates that meals that include a calorific drink are expected to be more satiating than those served with water.

“Our work adds important context to a broader ongoing debate about the dangers of liquid calories,” said professor Jeff Brunstrom from University of Bristol’s School of Experimental Psychology.

The researchers looked at whether people factor in liquid calories when they estimate the satiating effect of a meal.

Microsoft unveils Xbox in China after 14 years ban

Software giant Microsoft unveiled it reinvented Xbox videogame console in potentially vast Chinese market after a ban of 14 years despite facing probe over business practices in the country.

Yusuf Mehdi, chief marketing and strategy officer for Xbox said the new gaming console, the Xbox One, will be available in China in September.

China’s Ministry of Culture together with seven other ministries banned the manufacture and sale of all game consoles in China in 2000.

Karnataka CM rules out cabinet expansion “for now”

Facing pressure from a section of legislators aspiring for ministerial berths, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ruled out cabinet expansion “for now”, saying the exercise would be undertaken only when the party high command asks him to do so.

Karnataka CM says no need for CBI probe in minor’s rape case

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said here Wednesday that the investigation in the minor girl’s rape case was still going on and that a CBI probe was not required as the police force was competent enough to investigate it.

Commenting on the demands for a CBI probe in the case, Siddaramaiah said, “Everything can’t be sent to the CBI. Our police people are competent enough to investigate the matter and book the culprits.”

Bangalore police chief M N Reddi had yesterday also given credit to his police officers in investigating the case.

HSBC closes Muslim accounts in UK

In a controversial move, global private banking major HSBC has closed a number of “risky” accounts belonging to Muslim groups and individuals in the UK.

HSBC has written to one of London’s biggest mosques at Finsbury Park and other organisations, including an Islamic think tank, saying that to continue providing services would be outside the bank’s “risk appetite”.

It said decisions to close accounts were “absolutely not based on race or religion”.

Dr Reddys Laboratories Q1 net up 52.49% at Rs 550.39 crore

Pharma major Dr Reddys Laboratories on Wednesday reported 52.49 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 550.39 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2014.

It had posted a net profit of Rs 360.93 crore for the April-June quarter of the 2013-14 fiscal, Dr Reddy’s said in a filing to the BSE.

Net sales of the company in Q1, 2014-15, rose to Rs 3,517.54 crore, up 23.64 per cent from Rs 2,844.92 crore in the year-ago period.

The company said selling, general and administrative expenses rose to Rs 1,067.89 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 879.36 crore in the year-ago period.

iPhone 6 may not have sapphire-glass screen: Report

New reports claim that the iPhone6 will not have the long rumored sapphire-glass screen.

Analysts from market researcher Trendforce said they have yet to see the necessary orders for sapphire glass wending their way through the supply chain in time to meet an expected September launch for a 4.7-inch iPhone 6, CNET reported.

Sapphire is considered the third-hardest material, and it creates glass that is extremely scratch resistant and difficult to break.

Rising levels of water vapour in atmosphere amplifies Global Warming

A new study has revealed that increased water vapour concentration in the atmosphere contributes in global warming process.

Scientists at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science have confirmed that the increased water vapour level in the upper troposphere is a result of human activities.

Brian Soden, professor of atmospheric sciences at the UM Rosenstiel School and co-author of the study said that the study was the first to confirm that human activities had increased water vapor in the upper troposphere.

New species of mayfly discovered in peninsular India

Scientists have discovered a new species of mayfly in the southern Western Ghats in peninsular India.

The new species has been named Labiobaetis soldani in honor of Dr. T. Soldan for his substantial contribution to the understanding of the Ephemeroptera of Palaearctic and Oriental realms.

Labiobaetis soldani is closely related to Labiobaetis pulchellus, which has been described from Sri Lanka in the larval stage, and have light-brown heads with light-yellow antennae, and they grow to be about 4-5 millimeters in length.

Linkedin is due to get a makeover soon with the social networking website planning to introduce a slew of features on its mobile app.

The new features aim to make the app more user-friendly and provide information that is more relevant. One such feature will enable users to sift through information on the homepage depending on the amount of time they have, reported CNET.

Ingredients

Pitas (or your can make them too)
Olive oil
Paprika
Dried oregano
Salt as per taste

Method

Heat up the pan and split pitas to make 8 rounds and brush them with oil on both sides. Take them out and sprinkle dried oregano, salt and some paprika.

Now slice up the pitas into your favourite shapes now bake them (for 2 minutes) serve them hot and crisp.
