CPI leader Dr K Narayana today flayed the Centre for Medak Rail Accident that killed many school children.

Talking to mediapersons after consoling the students undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital here, the CPI leader alleged that the Centre should mend its ways and provide protection to people at railway level crossings.

Had the Railway department erected gates at unmanned level crossings, this type of accidents would not have occured, he said.

The CPI leader demanded that the Union Government give Rs 25 lakhs ex gratia to each of those deceased families.

Google gathering medical data to define perfect human health

Google is reportedly gathering medical data from volunteers to build a database of records that gives a perfect picture of what a healthy human being should be.

According to The Verge, the project developed by Google’s experimental Google X wing and called Baseline Study, sees the company first harvesting anonymous genetic and molecular information from 175 people.

With the help of the project, Google plans to collect a huge amount of data that will allow medical professionals to both detect and treat major health issues including heart disease and cancer.

AP Capital Not To Be Located In Anantapur: Diwakar

Telugu Desam party MP JC Diwakar Reddy today said AP State capital would not be located in Anantapur district.

Speaking to mediapersons, Diwakar Reddy said expeditious development of Andhra Pradesh would be possible alone with the blessings of Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu. Diwakar said several industrial units would be set up in Anantapur district with the cooperation of the Union government. A new study has revealed that slow walking speed and memory complaints can predict if a person is at risk for dementia.

The scientists at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Montefiore Medical Center, who put 27,000 older adults on five continents to a simple test measuring walking speed and cognitive problems, found that nearly 1 in 10 met criteria for pre-dementia.

Google grants more than 50% ‘right to be forgotten’ requests

Google’s updated statistics show that the Internet search-engine-giant has granted more than half of “right to be forgotten” requests in Europe.

According to CNET, Google confirmed on Friday that it approved more than half of the “right to be forgotten” requests it received and processed since May, resulting in the removal of tens of thousands of links on its websites.

A Google representative confirmed that the company had removed more than 50 percent of “right to be forgotten” requests it processed so far.

AP capital search panel to submit report by aug. 20

Sivaramakrishnan Committee constituted to study and identify the place for development of new capital for Andhra Pradesh would submit its final report to the Union government by August 20.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, c Sivaramakrishnan said the committee held discussions with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for over two hours and presented a power point presentation to him about locations and issues related to new capital.

Rahul Gandhi sad over violence in Saharanpur

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday expressed his remorse over the clashes taking place reportedly between two communities over a land dispute at Saharanpur in western Uttar Pradesh.

In a statement, the Congress vice president said: “I am deeply saddened to hear of clashes in Saharanpur. Violence, divisiveness and hatred have no place in our country.”

“This politics of hatred must end. I appeal to everyone to remain calm and refrain from fanning communal passions,” he added.

Planes fly more victims from Ukraine crash site

Two cargo planes have flown 38 more coffins carrying victims of the Malaysia Airlines disaster out of eastern Ukraine to a forensic centre in the Netherlands for identification and investigation.

The planes took off Saturday from Kharkiv, a government-controlled city where the bodies have been brought from the crash site in territory held by pro-Russian separatists fighting the Ukrainian government.

US and Ukrainian officials say the plane was shot down by a missile from rebel territory, likely by mistake.

12 militants killed in Egypt: Official

Twelve militants were killed and eleven others arrested on Saturday in raids carried out by the Egyptian army in the country’s North Sinai area.

Army raids killed five militants in Sheikh Zowayed area and destroyed 36 houses and 40 shelters used by the Takfiri groups, spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Mohamed Samir Abdel Aziz said.

Another seven Takfiri militants were killed during an exchange of fire while 11 suspects were arrested, he said.

Army also destroyed 5 cars and 12 motorcycles owned by the group.

2 killed in clashes in Saharanpur, curfew clamped

Two persons were killed today and at least 19 others, including policemen, injured as violent clashes broke out between two communities over a land dispute in this western Uttar Pradesh district with mobs indulging in brick batting and arson, prompting authorities to clamp curfew.

“Harish Kochar, a traders’ leader, and an unidentified person have been killed in the clashes,” Commissioner, Saharanpur, Tanveer Zafar Ali said.

Dhoni unhappy with ICC decision to fine Jadeja

A livid India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni today lambasted the ICC decision to impose a fine on Ravindra Jadeja, saying many a thing were neglected in the case and his players cannot ignore if abuse is hurled on them.

Jadeja was fined 50 percent of his match fee after being found guilty of playing against spirit of the game.

“To me, personally, it is a very hurtful decision. A lot of things were neglected in judging the case,” said Dhoni ahead of the third Test.

AAP demands postponement of civil services prelims

The AAP Saturday demanded the postponement of the preliminary examination for the civil services and blamed the BJP-led government and the UPSC for the ongoing crisis over the Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT).

In the past few days, ongoing protests by hundreds of civil services aspirants against the CSAT turned violent after police reportedly used force to disperse them.
