“…the heart is the machine that drives all acts of worship. It is what moves the entire body! As long as the heart is alive, then the limbs will be alive, and the soul will open itself up to worship. However, if the heart becomes diseased, then worship will become too heavy on the soul, leading to it eventually disliking and hating – and we seek refuge with Allah from this – worship. Because of this, Allah – the Glorified and Exalted – said, regarding the prayer:

New probe will allow early cancer detection in seconds

Scientists have revealed that they are developing a revolutionary new laser device that would allow on-the-spot diagnosis of cancer in just seconds.

According to the researchers from Birmingham City University and the University of Central Lancashire, the probe will detect cancers early and distinguish between different forms of the disease, the Daily Express reported.

Bangalore’s Vibgyor School, where a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her gym instructor earlier this month, has re-opened today after remaining shut for a while.

Concerned parents came in large numbers to drop their kids, just to see if things are in place and what safety measures have been taken by the school.

Putin may be sued for MH17 crash

Russian President Vladimir Putin could be sued for allegedly supporting the pro-Russian separatists thought responsible for the downing of Malaysian airlines MH17 in Eastern Ukraine .

The case is being arranged by British lawyers and might be heard in the U.S.

According to Metro, if the case is successful and the Russian President fails to pay compensations, his assets would be frozen.

A London-based firm spokesman said that there were speculations about civil suits against Malaysian airlines.

Ingredients:

4 wheat bread slices
Butter
2 Cheese cubes (grated)

Procedure:

Spread butter equally on the slices of bread. Then spread the grated cheese on two slices. Add salt and pepper.
Use an electric toaster to toast the bread.

Australia gives $4.7 million for Gaza relief

The Australian government is providing five million Australian dollars (4.7 million $) in urgent humanitarian assistance to Gaza, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop announced on Monday.

The Minister said the funds will provide emergency food, medical supplies, hygiene kits, and psycho-social support and is in addition to Australia’s existing commitment to providing 56.5 million Australian dollars (53.1 million US dollars) in development assistance to the Palestinian territories in 2014-15.

‘Spider Man’ arrested in New York for assaulting police

A 25-year-old man dressed as Spider Man has been arrested after badgering a woman tourist for a tip in Times Square here and then punching a police officer in the face.

The police officer was standing at his post when he witnessed a male, identified as Junior Bishop, dressed as Spider Man take a photo with a man and woman, authorities said.

The woman then tried to give Bishop a dollar tip, which he allegedly refused. Police said the crime-fighting hero then put out his hand and told the woman he only accepts USD 5, USD 10, or USD 20.

Sensex up 55 pts in opening trade on Asian cues

The benchmark BSE Sensex recovered over 55 points in early trade today on the back of fresh buying by funds and retail investors amid positive cues from other Asian markets.

The 30-share barometer rose by 55.08 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 26,181.83 with stocks of healthcare, capital goods, banking, metal and power sectors leading the recovery.

The index had lost over 145.10 points in Friday session after FIIs and domestic funds took some profit in recent outperformers.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 9.45 points, or 0.12 per cent, to 7,799.90.

Curfew relaxed for four hours in strife-hit Saharanpur

With the situation improving in violence-hit Saharanpur, the district authorities today relaxed curfew for four hours in the new city area to allow people to buy their daily need items from markets which were directed to remain open.

As the situation has shown improvement, curfew was being relaxed from 10 AM to 2 PM in the new city and from 3 PM to 7 PM in the old town areas, District Magistrate Sandhya Tiwari said

“This is being done to allow people to pick up their items of daily need from the markets,” she told reporters here.

Average CEO salary at top blue-chip cos goes up to Rs 10 cr per annum

The average CEO pay at India’s top listed companies has gone up to Rs 10 crore a year, but still remains less than one-tenth of over Rs 100 crore median remuneration paid to their peers in the US.

Top executives of the country’s top blue-chip companies, forming part of the stock market’s 30-share benchmark index Sensex, were paid an average remuneration of Rs 9.9 crore in the 2013-14 fiscal — up from about Rs 8.5 crore in the previous year.

FIIs pump in $5.2 bn so far this month

Betting big on the Government’s reforms agenda, overseas investors have poured in more than $5 billion in the Indian market so far this month taking the total inflow to over $25 billion since January.

Net investments by foreign investors in the equity market were $2.2 billion (Rs 13,166 crore) from July 1-25, while they amounted to $3 billion (Rs 17,829) in the debt market, taking the total to $5.2 billion (Rs 30,995 crore), as per the latest data.

US Secretary of State, John Kerry, stated this during a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

“Kerry urged Lavrov to stop the flow of heavy weapons and rocket and artillery fire from Russia into Ukraine, and to begin to contribute to deescalating the conflict,” a State Department official said.

Maruti hikes Celerio AMT output, looks to cut waiting period

The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is looking to increase the supply of auto gear shift version of its latest compact hatchback Celerio to reduce the waiting period that currently stands at about four months.

Since its launch in February, the company has so far received bookings for over 57,800 units of Celerio, out of which 43 percent (25,000) are units with automated manual transmission (AMT) technology.

“We continue to try and increase the supply of the auto gear shift (Celerio) cars,” a spokesperson of MSI said.

Rupee down 2 paise at 60.12 against US dollar in early trade

The rupee weakened by two paise to 60.12 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on increased demand for the American currency from importers.

Besides, dollar’s strength against other currencies overseas also weighed on the rupee but a higher opening in the domestic equity markets capped losses, dealers said.

The rupee had edged up by two paise to end at 60.10 against the American currency in Friday’s trade on dollar selling by exporters.

China’s industrial profits up 11.4%

Chinese industrial businesses saw their profits rise by 11.4 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year, official data showed Sunday.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the total profits of industrial companies with annual business revenue of more than 20 million yuan ($3.2 million) reached 2.86 trillion yuan, reported Xinhua.

The profits growth was markedly up from the less than 10-percent increase recorded in the first five months.

Bangalore rape case: Vibgyor High School reopens

Days after the Vibgyor High School was shut following outrage over the alleged rape of a six-year-old student by one of its staffers within its premises, the institute in the city’s upscale eastern suburb reopened on Monday.

The school reopened today for students of Classes 5 to 10. From Wednesday, all classes from Class 1 will commence. The decision to reopen the institute was announced on July 24 after a three-hour meeting of about 200 parents with the school management.

Delhi wants to scrap 9,000 flats for the poor

Here’s another lofty project that’s crumbling: Realising that it could not meet the deadline set by the Narendra Modi dispensation of building houses for the poor, the Delhi government wants to drop the construction of 9,000 flats.

These flats are part of some 68,000 low-cost flats sanctioned by the previous United Progressive Alliance regime under its flagship Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM) scheme.

The estimated cost of these projects was Rs. 3,244 crore. Fifty percent of the amount had to be borne by the central government.

Sensex slips 42 points; oil and gas stocks dip

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Monday was trading 41.87 points or 0.16 percent down as oil and gas stocks dipped.

Selling pressure was seen in oil and gas, auto and IT sectors, while good buying was observed in healthcare sector.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,173.47 points, was trading at 26,084.88 points (at 09.25 a.m.) in the early session, down 41.87 points or 0.16 percent from the previous day’s close at 26,126.75 points.

Watching too much porn leads to less gray matter in men’s brain

Researchers have claimed that men who watch copious amounts of porn have less gray matter in brain.

The study was not able to determine if the adult films caused the brain to shrink. For the study, the researchers recruited 64 male subjects in the age group of 21-45 with a broad range of pornography consumption.

The men’s brains were scanned with MRI technology while they were watching porn websites, along with non-sexual images.

Kidnapped Kanpur woman found murdered in car

Kanpur police recovered the dead body of a woman who was kidnapped by a gang of bikers late on Sunday night after she had gone out for dinner.

The woman had reportedly gone for dinner after which some bikers attacked her car, taking the woman along with them. Her companion was thrown out of the car.

After kidnapping her in the car, the bikers allegedly killed her but no signs of loot were found.

Saharanpur violence: Nine FIRs filed, 38 arrested till now

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Saharanpur, Rajesh Kumar Pandey today told ANI that nine FIRs have been filed and 38 people have been arrested post the Saharanpur clashes which led to three deaths.

The SSP also asserted that the situation was slowly returning to normalcy and the police was trying its best to maintain peace.
