Investor wealth rises by Rs 16 lakh cr in Q1, FY’15

Investor wealth soared by over Rs 16 lakh crore to more than Rs 90.19 lakh crore in the first quarter of 2014-15 because of rising stock prices amid robust foreign fund inflows and the BJP government’s storming to power at the Centre last month.

The BSE’s 30-scrip index, Sensex, has gained 3,027.51 points or 13.52 percent to 25,413.78 during the April-June quarter of the current fiscal.

Investor wealth soared by Rs 16,04,394 crore on the back of stock market rally to reach Rs 90,19,394 crore today. It was Rs 74,15,000 crore as on March 31, 2014.

Ingredients:

300 gm Minced meat
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
2 Green Chillies (chopped)
1/2 cup Thick Coconut Milk
2 Tomatoes (chopped)
1 Onion (chopped)
1 Egg
3 Bread Slices
Salt to taste
3 tbsp Oil
2-1/2 cups Water
Coriander Leaves for garnishing

For spice mixture:

1 tsp Cumin Seeds (powdered)
1 tbsp Coriander Powder
1 tsp Red Chilli Paste

Procedure:

Soak bread slices in water and then squeeze out the water.

Put it into the minced meat taken in a bowl.

Add green chillies, garam masala powder and salt.

Add beaten egg to the minced mixture. Mix it well.

Multi-language support in Google Now delayed: Reports

Google is still working on multi language support system on Google Now which was to be launched in the few days hence postponing the launch.

Google engineers has discovered some software malfunctions in the final stage of the testing and it will take some time to fix those bugs, CNET reported.

This feature is now expected to be launched late this summer, and it will include a multilingual Google support which would contain seven languages as well as the default language. One can use these languages to carry out their Google Search and Google Now needs.(ANI)

Hamas rejects Israeli blame over teenagers’ killings

Islamic militant group Hamas late Monday rejected Israel’s allegation that it was behind the killings of three Israeli teenagers whose bodies were found in the West Bank Monday evening.

Hamas, instead, accused Israel of using the killing of three Israeli teenagers for more military escalation against the Palestinians.

“We reject all Israeli allegations and threats against us,” Xinhua quoted Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri as saying. “No Palestinian group, Hamas or any other group, has taken responsibility for the action, and thus the Israeli version can’t be trusted.”

Anti-inflammatory drugs may help in treating aggressive cancers

A new research has revealed that aggressive cancer tumors may respond to anti-inflammatory drugs that are used to treat rheumatoid arthritis.

Researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found that some aggressive tumors rely on an antiviral pathway that appears to drive inflammation, and the tumors that activate this pathway always have dysfunctional forms of the proteins p53 and ARF, both encoded by genes known for being highly mutated in various cancers.

FinMin may double tax exemption limit under 80C to Rs 2 lakh

Seeking to boost household savings, the Finance Ministry is considering doubling the exemption limit for investments by individuals in financial instruments to Rs 2 lakh.

Presently the investments and expenditures up to a combined limit of Rs 1 lakh get exemptions under Sections 80C, 80CC and 80 CCC of the Income-Tax Act.

Sources said the revenue department is assessing the burden on the exchequer in case of increase in the benefit limit. The announcement is expected in the Budget.

The Budget for 2014-15 will be presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Lok Sabha on July 10.

Scientists have revealed that a new technology, Optogenetics, allowing them to control brain activity by shining light on neurons and relies on light-sensitive protein s that can suppress or stimulate electrical signals within cells.

New computer model can perceive gender

Scientists have, for the first time, developed a mathematical model based on 3D facial scans that enables computers to objectively perceive gender.

Researchers said the computers can mimic human perception of gender.

A multi-disciplinary team of scientists at The University of Western Australia developed the mathematical model that matches the gender scores people give to human faces ranging on a continuum from very masculine to very feminine.

Trade imbalance with China not sustainable: Ansari

India has made it clear to China that the present imbalance in the trade is not sustainable and there is a need to find a solution to the pressing issue.

US urges North Korea to release two jailed Americans

The US Monday called on North Korea to release two Americans, who have been detained and are facing trial in that country.

The US is aware of reports that citizens Matthew Miller and Jeffrey Fowle will face trial in North Korea, Xinhua quoted State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki as telling a regular briefing.

“Out of humanitarian concern for Mr. Fowle and Mr. Miller and their families, we request North Korea release them, so they may return home,” Psaki said.

Bomb scare: AI plane lands under emergency conditions at Bangalore

A Delhi-bound Air India plane from Kochi, with 156 passengers and eight crew onboard, landed under emergency conditions at the international airport here late tonight following an “unspecific call” about a bomb threat, airline officials said.

After the Airbus 320 (flight AI-047) took off from Kochi around 8.40 PM, there was a call from a man saying that there could be a bomb in the aircraft, they said, adding the pilot was asked soon thereafter to land at the nearest airport, which was Bangalore.

‘Russia building super-heavy space rockets’

Russia is designing a carrier rocket of the super-heavy class, capable to deliver spacecraft for missions to the Moon and Mars, Russian space agency Roscosmos said Monday.

“We’ll hold a meeting in August to discuss the plans to design the rocket carrier,” Xinhua quoted Roscosmos head Oleg Ostapenko as saying, adding that the draft proposals were sent to leading Russian space enterprises.

The super-heavy 120-to-190-tonne rocket will be designed as a separate rocket carrier, not as a modernisation of the Angara rocket, he said.

Four income tax officials held in bribery case

Four income tax officials, including a joint commissioner, along with a chartered accountant and his assistant have been arrested in a bribery case in Kolkata, the CBI said Monday.

The accused were booked for demanding illegal gratification of Rs.25 lakh from the owner of a fishery firm based in South 24 Parganas in West Bengal.

“It was alleged that the accused had demanded bribe for providing relief to the owner in avoiding penalty and additional tax liability,” said a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official.

Delhi Police on Monday requested a court here to frame charges under the stringent TADA Act against Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda in a 1994 case related to recovery of explosive substances.

Filing a written submission before Additional Sessions Judge Bharat Parashar, police asked the court to frame charges under sections 3(3) and 5 of the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act along with section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act read with 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian penal code against Tunda.

Magnitude 6.2 earthquake hits Japan

An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted Bonin Islands in the Japan region early Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said.

The temblor, which occurred at 3.55 a.m. (Beijing time) had a depth of 512.4 km. Its epicentre was initially determined to be at 28.3536 degrees north latitude and 138.864 degrees east longitude, Xinhua reported.

Mortar shells hit northern Syrian city, killing 14

A barrage of mortar shells hit government-held areas of the northern city of Idlib on Monday, killing 14 people and wounding at least 40, Syrian state media said.

Idlib is the provincial capital in northwestern Syria and it has been under the control of President Bashar Assad’s troops since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in March 2011. Rebels trying to overthrow Assad’s government control the areas around the city. They have been besieging the city for more than two years, firing mortars into the government-held areas and clashing with Assad’s troops at its outskirts.
