Two head constables sentenced to 3-year jail in graft case

Two Delhi Police head constables have been sentenced to three years in jail by a Delhi court for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 100 each from bootleggers for permitting them to sell liquor illegally.

Special CBI Judge L K Gaur awarded the jail term to Haryana’s Jhajjar resident Ram Kumar and Jind’s resident Ram Kumar. The two were suspended in 2004 in connection with the inquiry ordered into a video tapes showing policemen taking bribe from bootleggers.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Najam Sethi has lashed out at his predecessor, Zaka Ashraf for mishandling the ‘Big Three’ issue and leaving Pakistan in danger of being isolated in world cricket.

Speaking at a function in Islamabad today, Sethi defended his decision to support the wholesale governance changes and new financial model in the International Cricket Council (ICC) which have allowed India, Australia and England to take a driving seat in the sport’s world governing body.

Egypt arrests pro-Morsi leaders ahead of anniversary

Egyptian police today arrested four Islamist leaders who back Mohamed Morsi, two days ahead of protests their alliance has called to mark the first anniversary of his ouster, officials said.

Since the military deposed Morsi on July 3 last year, the authorities have waged a brutal crackdown on his supporters that has seen more than 1,400 people killed in street clashes and over 15,000 jailed.

Magdy Hussein, a leader of the Anti-Coup Alliance that has spearheaded protests demanding Morsi’s reinstatement, was arrested at dawn at his house, the security officials said.

Maria Sharapova suffered more Wimbledon heartache as the French Open champion crashed to a shock 7-6 (7/4), 4-6, 6-4 defeat against Germany’s Angelique Kerber in the fourth round, while Lucie Safarova stormed into her first Grand Slam semi-final today.

Pb govt directs special facilities to Muslim inmates

Punjab government today directed all the jail superintendents in the state to extend special and needful facilities to the inmates belonging to Muslim community during the holy month of Ramzan.

Punjab Jails Minister Sohan Singh Thandal, while reviewing the arrangements for the holy month of Ramzan in Jails, directed all the superintendents to provide eatable including milk, fruits and other eatables as per the need of inmates during fasts observed by them, an official release said here.

India, Pak share list of nationals lodged in each others jails

India and Pakistan on Tuesday exchanged the list of their nationals lodged in each others jails.

The exchange of list was consistent with the provisions of the Agreement on Consular Access between India and Pakistan signed on May 21, 2008.

The agreement provides for lists of nationals of each country lodged in the others’ jails to be exchanged twice each year, on January 1 and July 1, a statement by Ministry of External Affairs said.

India, Singapore talks little India riots, smart cities

India and Singapore, country’s largest trade and investment partner in the ASEAN, today discussed key issues including trade and investment ties and also explored ways to build on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s theme of “smart cities”.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held talks with her counterpart from Singapore K Shanmugam during which they also discussed riots in ‘Little India’ district where some 400 migrant workers including Indians went on the rampage after a construction worker was knocked down and killed by a bus last December.

Separate Sikh panel recommended for Haryana: Hooda

Amid a growing controversy over the issue, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday said a committee set up by the state government on the issue of a separate managing committee for Haryana gurdwaras was in favour of a separate Sikh body for the purpose.

“The government would take a decision in view of the larger interest of Sikhs of the state,” Hooda told reporters here.

CBI hands over documents to MHA related to Ishrat Jahan case

CBI has handed over to Home Ministry the documents sought by it for deciding granting sanction to prosecute four Intelligence Bureau officials in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case.

The Home Ministry had demanded “case diary” and Superintendent of Police’s final report before deciding to give sanction to prosecute the IB officers.

CBI sources said the agency has handed over necessary documents to Home Ministry officials including “statements of the accused, statements of the witnesses and other documents relied upon during the case”.

Telangana Council to meet on Wednesday to elect new Chairman

The Telangana Legislative Council is meeting Wednesday to elect its new Chairman in the backdrop of defection of MLCs from the Congress and the TDP to the ruling party.

TRS leader in the Council Swami Goud filed his nomination for the Chairman’s post but the Congress too fielded its member Farooq Hussain to counter the ruling party.

Of the Council strength of 40, the Congress’s tally fell to 12 after five of its legislators moved to the TRS.

‘Modi govt trampled upon established constitutional processes’

Congress today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having an “autocratic mindset” whose government has “trampled” upon established constitutional processes in its “vendetta” against former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium.

Calling Subramanium a “known jurist”, the opposition party said the NDA government’s move to oppose his elevation as a Supreme Court judge was because of the “independent stance” taken by him as a court appointed counsel against Gujarat government in cases like Shorabuddin, Kausar Bi and Ishrat Jahan.

I&B Minister’s letter to Telangana CM on channel blackout

A news channel of Telangana has complained that it has been blacked out in the state, prompting Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar to write to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seeking his intervention in the matter.

In his letter, Javadekar has said a representation had been received from ABN Andhra Jyoti TV channel complaining that the Cable TV operators had closed down its transmission from June 16 for an “indefinite period”.

IAF may fly out stranded Indians from Iraq

As per plans, the Air Force may use its planes to fly out Indian nationals stranded in Iraq to safer places nearby such as Kuwait or UAE from where commercial airliners would ferry them back to India.

As per the plan, if required, the IAF aircraft would be used to fly out citizens to safer nearby locations and then the commercial planes would take charge, defence sources said.

The Congress party in Goa on Tuesday sent a pink skirt to state public works department minister Sudin Dhavalikar to protest against his remarks supporting Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik and claiming that wearing skirts was not Goan culture.

Congress’ Goa spokesman Durgadas Kamat told PTI that a pink colour skater jersey skirt has been couriered to Dhavalikar’s Porvorim office address to protest against his statements.

Bouncers held for molesting woman in Delhi

Two bouncers have been arrested for misbehaving with and molesting a woman visitor at a luxury hotel’s night club here, police said Tuesday.

Rahul and Fareem were arrested Monday on the basis of a complaint filed by the 22-year-old woman with the Vasant Vihar police station in south Delhi.

The woman, who works as a beautician, told police she went to the night club Saturday where three bouncers misbehaved with her at the entrance.

When she protested, the accused also passed lewd comments at her, she said.

Police said another accused bouncer named Sachin was on the run.

Stuffed Eggs Recipe

Ingredients :

BOiled eggs 6
White sauce ¼ cup
Capsicum 1 (chopped)
Carrot 1 (chopped)
Salt ¼ Tea spoons or to taste
Black pepper ½ Tea spoon
Egg 2 (beaten)
Bread crumbs as required
Oil for deep fry
Stuffed Eggs Method:

Cut boiled eggs into half. Separate egg yolks.
In a bowl mix egg yolks with white sauce, capsicum, carrot, salt and black pepper.
Take boiled egg white and wrap it with above mixture. Do same with all egg whites.
Dip stuffed eggs in egg then roll in bread crumbs.
Deep fry in medium heated oil over medium flame until golden.

In a bowl add 1 kg chicken pieces along with 2 tbsp chili sauce, 2 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp red chili powder, 1 tsp brown sugar, 1 tsp black pepper powder, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and ½ tsp Chinese salt and leave for 1 hour.
