Moily opens law firm in New Delhi

Former union minister M.Veerappa Moily opened his law firm in national capital New Delhi on Monday evening.

The firm will go by the name of Moily Law Associates and is located near Safdarjung Hospital.

Eminent lawyers and people from other walks of life attended the opening of the law office.

Moily, 74,is an Indian politician from the state of Karnataka. He is a member of the 16th Lok Sabha and represents the Chikballapur constituency.

Mandela was a towering personality, his death still is a huge loss, says wife Graca Machel

Graca Machel, the widow of former South African president Nelson Mandela, has said that she is yet to get over her “huge loss” of him not being around anymore.

In her first TV interview after a six-month period of mourning, given to senior CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour, Machel said that till two years before his death, Mandela was aware of South Africa’s struggles, and that she decided then “to save him, to protect him, from getting involved and knowing in depth what was going on, because he was such a sensitive person.”

Wimbledon 2014: Roger Federer enters into quarterfinals

Roger Federer secured his place in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championship after defeating Spain’s Tommy Robredo 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

The 17-time grand slam champion hit 11 aces and 41 winners in the match.

Wimbledon 2014: Maria Sharapova suffers shock defeat to Angelique Kerber

Maria Sharapova suffered a shock defeat to Germany’s Angelique Kerber 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championship.

Sharapova saved six match points at 4-5 down in the third set but the German held her nerve and won the seventh match point to enter into quarterfinals of the tournament.

Sharapova smashed 57 winners as against Kerber’s 27 but committed a mammoth 49 unforced errors.

The defeat meant that Sharapova will have to wait till next year to fight for her second Wimbledon title, having won it last in 2004.

Agriculture ministry prepares plan to tackle possible drought in Western India

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Tuesday said that his ministry is planning to submit a proposal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the predicted drought situation in western India.

Rousseff calls on Brazilians to unite behind national team

Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff Tuesday called on Brazilians to unite in support of the national team.

“It’s time to unite around our national team,” she posted on her Twitter account, as Brazil prepare for their Friday quarterfinal match against Colombia at Fortaleza’s Castelao Arena, reports Xinhua.

With three days to go before the game, Rousseff affirmed her confidence in the players and its coaching team, headed by Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Action will be taken against Tapas Pal, says Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee on Tuesday said that strict action will be taken against party MP Tapas Pal for his offensive threat to send his men to the homes of Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders to rape their women.

“Whatever Tapas Pal has said, action will be taken. We don’t support such statements. We have asked for an unconditional apology,” said Mamata Banerjee.

Shamsabad Vegetable Market Masjid’s lock opened

Dept. of Roads and Buildings had constructed a mosque in the area of Travelers’ Bungalow on a plot of 120 Sq. yards. It seems that it was a conspiracy to dismantle the mosque located on the main road. The Muslims of the area had not agreed for dismantling the old Qutub Shahi mosque. During this period, this mosque was constructed on Govt. land in 2007. It was locked since then. TRS leader and Dy. CM Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali had promised that he would inhabit the newly constructed mosque on the occasion of his visit to the mosque on 14th February 2011.

Telangana to fill up 18, 000 vacancies

CM of Telangana Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao met the Governor Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan and discussed the issues pertaining to the formation of Telangana Public Service Commission. Unemployed candidates have a ray of hope that very soon employment notification would be issued for filling up 18, 000 vacancies. On the other hand Mr. KCR has promised to regularize contract employees.

Sources indicate that Telangana Public Service Commission would be constituted soon after the approval of President of India. It is not sure that how many vacancies would be advertised.

CM extends last date for payment of Property Tax

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has accepted the proposal of GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar to extend the last date for payment of Property Tax till August 31.

According to the GHMC, about 4 Lakh people have paid Property Tax during 2014-15 up to June 30. The total amount collected is Rs 266 crore. On June 30 alone, more than 42,000 people have paid Rs 62 crore towards Property Tax.

This year’s tax is more than Rs 173 crore compared to June 2013, which was only Rs 93 crore.

AP prepares action plan to ensure 24-hr power supply

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today said his government has prepared an action plan to ensure 24 hours power supply for domestic and industrial sectors.
Speaking after a review meeting on electricity and red sandalwood, Naidu said a delegation from Union Power Ministry would soon visit the State to study the demand and production of electricity. The government would also submit a detailed report on the need of electricity to the Centre, he added.

Ponnala team to attend AICC meeting today

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah has said he is leading a 17-member team to attend AICC meeting to be hosted by A K Antony at Delhi on July 2 at 10.30 am.
The meeting will deliberate on various issues like 10 years Congress rule, Elections and results, one month rule of BJP at the Centre and its performance. Besides, the meeting will focus on strengthening of the Congress, he said.
