Titan’s ocean may be as saline as Earth’s Dead Sea

Scientists have revealed that NASA’s Cassini mission have provided firm evidence that ocean inside the Saturn ‘s largest moon, Titan, might be extremely salty like Earth’s Dead Sea.

The new results come from a study of gravity and topography data collected during Cassini’s repeated flybys of Titan during the past 10 years.

Permission granted to hold Jalsa Yaumul Quran at Makkah Masjid

Government of Telangana has granted permission to hold Jalsa Yaumul Quran on the occasion of Friday prayers at historical Makkah Masjid. Secretary Minority Welfare Ahmed Nadeem issued GO RT 10 allotting 4 Fridays to various parties.

1st and 4th Fridays have been allotted to MIM. While 2nd Friday has been allotted to All India Sunni Ulama Board and the 3rd Friday has been allotted to MBT.

GO stated that rules should be followed in connection with holding the meeting and the meeting should not be used for any political purpose since the month of Ramadan is a religious month.

Why Do We Fast ?

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly we must note that one of the names of Allaah is al-Hakeem (the Most Wise). The word Hakeem is derived from the same root as hukm (ruling) and hikmah (wisdom). Allaah alone is the One Who issues rulings, and His rulings are the most wise and perfect.

Secondly:Allaah does not prescribe any ruling but there is great wisdom behind it, which we may understand, or our minds may not be guided to understand it. We may know some of it but a great deal is hidden from us.

Sunanda post mortem: AIIMS forensic head sticks to stand

The head of the AIIMS’ forensic department today stuck to his controversial claim that pressure was brought on him to manipulate the post mortem report on Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar

A day after the premier health institute denied his claim, Dr Sudhir Gupta said, “I stand by what I said“.

“How do they know there is no pressure on me? Who were they to clarify that there is no pressure on me? What was the hurry to call a press conference?” he said.

He was asked about AIIMS rejecting allegations levelled by him.

US hopes NSA surveillance on BJP not to impact bilateral ties

The United States has hoped its National Security Agency surveillance on the BJP, revelation of which has highly been objected by New Delhi, would not have an adverse impact on the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

“We certainly hope not,” State Department Spokesperson, Jen Psaki, told reporters yesterday at her daily news conference when asked about the strong protest lodged by India against the alleged spying of BJP by the National security Agency.

Minor gas leak from ONGC well in AP

A minor gas leakage was reported from one of the wells of ONGC at Kasanapalli in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, which has been brought under control, a senior officer said here today.

“There was a minor leakage from the well yesterday, which was controlled immediately,” said Asset Manager, Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) Rajahmundry, P Krishna Rao, said in a statement.

Following the leak, District collector Neetu Kumari Prasad appealed to people not to panic as ONGC officials had plugged the leak.

The legislator, Vishnu Wagh said he would attend the upcoming session of the state Legislative Assembly, beginning July 22, wearing ‘dhoti’ in protest against MGP minister Sudin Dhavalikar who has sought ban on bikinis on beaches saying it is against Indian culture.

Government is mulling giving punitive powers to arrest, search and seize to National Commission for Women (NCW) in matters of domestic violence, police apathy and sexual harassment at work place and plans to extend NCW’s jurisdiction to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has prepared a Cabinet note which proposes that the jurisdiction of NCW should be extended to the Jammu and Kashmir, sources in WCD ministry said.

Police team attacked, constable killed in Agra

A police constable was gunned down by unidentified men in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district when he was on duty, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place in Bamrauli Ahir where a police team arrived for a search operation Wednesday night, acting on a complaint about a large procession taken out by a notorious criminal with weapons being flaunted, police said.

As the police team reached the village, which has a history of violent clashes and murders, it was attacked and policemen were beaten up.

Ingredients:

150 gm mutton minced(keema)

100 gm chicken minced

2 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tsp onion paste

1 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp cumin powder

3/4 tsp powdered pepper

1 tsp dried mango powder

1/4 tsp saunth (Dry ginger powder)

2 tsp oil

1 1/2 Tbsp cashew paste

1 1/2 Tbsp cream

2 Tbsp besan

1 egg yolk

Salt, to taste

Coriander leaves, to garnish

Method:

In a bowl mix together the mutton mince and the chicken mince. Mix them with your hands.

Prolonged periods of sitting increases cancer risk

We all have been warned about a number of factors that trigger cancer -processed meat, smoking, high fat diets etc. But, a new study reveals something new.

According to a latest research, people who spend most of their day sitting – whether it’s in front of a TV or computer or behind the wheel – appear to have an increased risk of developing certain kinds of cancer.

A meta-analysis of 43 observational studies found that there was a correlation between a sedentary lifestyle, which means sitting for hours, a higher risk of colon, endometrial, and lung cancer.

Mitsubishi to sell Compact Sedan to Chrysler

A new agreement was signed between Chrysler and Mitsubishi, under which, the Japanese automaker will supply their competitor with a global compact sedan. However there is no news about which car will become a part of this re-badging exercise, we are sure it will be a B-segment sedan.

In view of this information, it is anybody’s guess that it will be the Attrage/Mirage sedan that will become a part of this enterprise.

The sedan will go on sale in Mexico in November, most likely with a Dodge badge. Mitsubishi will supply the model for the next five years.

China bans Ramadan fasting in northwest

Students and civil servants in China’s Muslim northwest, where Beijing is enforcing a security crackdown following deadly unrest, have been ordered to avoid taking part in traditional fasting during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The Turfan trade bureau on its internet website at the beginning of the week released a statement saying that all public workers, students and teachers were banned from fasting and participating in religious activities.

Bozhou, the region’s official radio station, also announced that party members, teachers and youths cannot engage in Ramadan worship.

Good weather ensures bumper cherry production in Valley

Cherry farmers in Kashmir valley are expecting a bumper production of cherries this year thanks to the timely rains and abundant snowfall during the winters.

Yaseen Ahmad a cherry grower, said, “The crop is a lot better than last year’s. It will be exported to UP and Mumbai.”

Another cherry farmer, Farooq Ahmad, also said that because of favorable climate the crop is good this year unlike last year.

Sensex shuts down due to technical glitch, will hold pre-open sessions when resumed;NSE remains open

The Bombay STock Exchange had to stop trading due to technical glitches. The trading was continued for sometime wihtout prices being updated on systems, after which BSE decided to close its trading. The National STock Exchange has remained open in the meanwhile. The BSE CEO has said trading could be resumed in a few minutes.

The BSE has had to close down all segments to balance trading. It will cancel all orders before the network outage closed its trading. There will be a pre-open session after trading is resumed, reports CNBC TV18.

Rupee gains 16 paise against Dollar as trading begins

The rupee edged higher by 16 paise to over two-week high of 59.53 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today on increased selling of the US currency by exporters amid capital inflows. Forex dealers said a higher opening in the domestic equity market and strengthening of the euro against the US dollar overseas also supported the rupee.

Brent crude declines to $111 as oil crisis eases

Oil extended losses in Asia today on prospects that Libya will begin exporting more crude into a global market flush with supplies, while easing concerns about the Iraqi crisis also weighed on prices.

US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for August delivery eased 47 cents to $104.01, while Brent crude for August was down 33 cents at $110.91 in late-morning trade.

Brent fell $1.05 in London yesterday after Libya’s interim Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thani declared that authorities have regained control of the export terminals blockaded by rebels. WTI fell 86 cents in New York.

3 killed as Army foils infiltration bid along LoC

Three intruders were killed on Thursday morning during an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, police said.

A gunfight between the Army and the group of heavily-armed infiltrators is on, authorities said here.

“The gunfight started this (Thursday) morning between a group of heavily-armed infiltrators and the Army troops along the LoC in Balnoi (Mendhar) area of Poonch,” a senior police officer told a news agency.

Trial run of sem-high speed train on Delhi-Agra route

In a bid to make travel between Delhi and Agra, a popular tourist destination, faster, the Indian Railways will on Thursday hold a trial run of a semi-high speed train between the two destinations.

The trial run will see the train travelling upto a speed of 160 kilometres per hour. If everything goes as planned, the service will start in November this year.
