Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today inspected J-block building in the Secretariat and inquired about the facilities available to the employees.
Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Employees’ Association president Murali Krishna brought to notice of the Chief Minister on lack of minimum facilities available to the employees, who were working in the Secretariat. He explained the Chief Minister about the situation in the Secretariat was not allowing to take up works to renovate the offices.

Modify polavaram project design: Karat

Strongly opposing the design of Polavaram Project, the CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Friday urged the government to modify the design to minimize the loss to the tribal.
Speaking at a meet-the-press programme here, Prakash Karath reminded that strong objections were arising on the present design of Polavaram projects. It would also create problems to thousands of tribal, he added. The present design was irrelevant and not in suit with the requirements, he felt.

TRS Govt may revive Bangaru Talli scheme: KTR

Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Friday informed that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen to revive the Bangaru Talli scheme.

Speaking to media persons here, KTR said that the Bangaru Talli scheme has remained defunct for the last six months and it could be revived soon. 39 injured in two Kashmir road accidents

Thirty-nine people were injured Friday in two road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said.

Both the accidents took place at Sumbal in the north Kashmir district.

“Thirty-four people were injured when a bus, bearing registration number JK02C-5491, they were travelling in, overturned at Dangerpora under police station Sumbal. All the injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment,” a senior police official said here.

Tough action against hoarders to curb price rise’

Blaming hoarders for the recent spike in prices of onions, potatoes and other food items, the government Friday said it will take tough action in collaboration with states to reign in speculative volatility in prices.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley along with senior cabinet colleagues Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, discussed with state food ministers measures to check the rising prices.

Money problems drive six of family to end life in AP

Six members of a family allegedly committed suicide in Chakrayapet mandal here apparently due to financial problems, police said today.

Y C Miravali (45) along with his wife and four children ended their life by consuming poison at a room of a state-run tourism guest house in Gandi area last night, they said.

According to Pulivendula (Rural) Circle Inspector Maheshwar Reddy, the family was staying at the guest house since July 1 evening. As they did not turn up for lunch this afternoon, the staff of the guest house grew suspicious and opened the door of the room and found them dead.

AI sending Boeing 777 plane to bring back nurses from Iraq

Air India is sending a Boeing 777 aircraft to bring back 46 nurses and other Indians stranded in strife-torn Iraq.

The Boeing 777 (Long Range), with a seating capacity for about 300 passengers, would shortly take off from Delhi’s IGI Airport to Erbil in north Iraqi region of Kurdistan and is likely to return to Kochi on its way back, Civil Aviation Ministry officials told PTI here.

Air India, which had kept three wide-body planes and crew on standby for evacuation of Indian nationals from Iraq, was awaiting government’s instructions to launch the flights.

UP will cooperate with Centre for cleaning Ganga: Azam Khan

Terming pollution of Ganga a serious challenge, Uttar Pradesh government today said it would cooperate with Central government for cleaning the river.

The issue was raised in the state Assembly by BJP MLA Shayamdev Roychaudhary who moved a resolution to immediately stop all drains falling in the river.

Referring to the bad condition of Ganga ‘ghats’ in Varanasi, Roychaudhary said Uttar Pradesh has the maximum course of the river. The state benefits the most from the river and because of this it also pollutes it the most, he said.

Brazil football star Neymar’s father is reportedly involved in a FIFA World Cup ticket blackmarketing network.

Newspaper reports said that Neymar Sr. is involved with a network led by Algerian businessman Mamadou Lamine Fofana, which pumped 300,000 euros to buy tickets and sell these at a higher price in the black market, reports EFE.

Police investigations involved names like Carlos Alberto, who won the 1970 World Cup with Brazil, and Roberto de Assis, Ronaldinho’s brother.

Pakistan asks India to release its nationals

Pakistan on Friday called upon India to release all of its nationals who have already completed sentences but are still languishing in Indian jails.

The foreign ministry said currently 477 Pakistani prisoners (346 civil prisoners and 131 fishermen) still remain lodged in Indian jails, Xinhua reported.

“Out of these, 22 civil prisoners have completed sentence and await repatriation,” a ministry statement said.

“It is our hope that the government of India would release all Pakistani prisoners who have completed their sentences,” the foreign ministry said.

Lull in monsoon in Himachal

There is a lull in the southwest monsoon that hit Himachal Pradesh just three days ago and similar conditions will continue till this weekend, a weather official said here Friday.

“Precipitation occurred at a few isolated places in the past two days. With this, the maximum temperatures rose by three to four degrees,” an official of the meteorological department told IANS.

However, there was no appreciable change in the minimum temperatures.

Sensex, Nifty at new highs, oil and gas stocks rise

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Friday touched a new record high of 25,981.51 points as oil and gas and bank stocks surged.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) ended the day at a new closing high of 25,962.06 points by gaining 138.31 points or 0.54 percent from its previous close at 25,823.75 points.

The Sensex had hit a record high of 25,864.53 points Wednesday on the hopes of a fiscally prudent and growth oriented budget expected on July 10.
