India, Iran partners for skill development

India’s state-run National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Sunday signed an agreement with Iran’s Technical and Vocational Training Organisation (TVTO) to jointly collaborate in skill development.

“This is an exclusive initiative to enhance collaborations in skill development in both the countries and share working models and experiences,” NSDC chief executive Dilip Chenoy said on the occasion here.

Muzaffarnagar teacher allegedly gang-raped, filmed by three youths

A 23-year-old teacher of Balwakheri village under Charthawal police station in the district was allegedly gang-raped by three youths who filmed the act and threatened to leak the video, police said on Sunday.

The rape survivor told a news channel that the prime accused Mohit accosted her when she was returning home after giving tuition to her students on Saturday.

The accused, she said, pulled her into a desolate house and called the other accused — Sorabh and Vipin— over the phone.

She mentioned in her statement that while Mohit raped her the other two filmed the incident.

Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar died of massive hear attack in a Mumbai hospital, reports said on Sunday.

Confirming the death, additional Commissioner of Police, Krishna Prakash said, “Haseena Parkar, sister of Dawood Ibrahim, died today.”

As per the reports, Parkar, 55, who used to handle Dawood’s business in Mumbai, died at Habib Hospital in Dongri of south Mumbai.

Minor girl repeatedly raped for 12 days by 77-year-old man

In yet another incident that can put humanity to shame, a 12-year-old girl working as a domestic help in Delhi house, was raped by a 77-year-old man for 12 days, as per reports.

While the result of the medical examination conducted on the girl has come positive, she is being counselled by a special police team.

According to the police, the girl who belongs to West Bengal, was raped continuously for the last 12 days. However, today when she resisted, the accused started beating her. On hearing the noise, the neighbours informed police which later raided the house and rescued the girl.

SGPC row: Badal compares Congress to Mughals

Attacking the Haryana government’s decision to announce creation of a separate committee for gurdwaras (Sikh shrines) in the state, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal called the decision “unconstitutional” and accused the Congress of behaving like the “tyrannical Mughal rulers” to weaken Sikh power.

Terming the announcement made by his Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda Sunday for a separate Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for Haryana as a “cheap step”, Badal said that the decision was “unfortunate”.

Delhi government accommodations to be allotted online

The Public Works Department (PWD) Sunday said it will allot all Delhi government pool accommodations through an online automated system of allotment (ASA).

In a statement, it said: “The allotment of Delhi government pool residential accommodations will be done through an automated system of allotment based on choices for specific houses by the applicants.”

“The step has been taken to provide transparency, speedy allotment, higher occupancy of houses and to enable the applicants to get houses of their choice,” said Arun Baroka, principal secretary, PWD, in the statement.

AP gas tragedy: GAIL appoints EIL to check pipeline network

In the wake of Nagaram gas pipeline fire-explosion last month in which 21 persons were killed, the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) has appointed Engineers India (EIL) to check the health of its pipeline network of 870 kms from KG Basin on East Coast.

A senior official said that all the pipeline maintenance bases of GAIL across the country have been alerted on the parameters of their health and safety, and instructions have been issued for additional surveillance at increased frequency, and any deviation or abnormality to be attended immediately.

Manipuri man found dead in Delhi

The body of a 28-year-old Manipuri man was found in a drain here, police said Sunday.

The body of Wilungbou – who worked in a call centre – was fished out of the drain in Chirag Delhi area of south Delhi, after it was spotted by a passerby who informed police around 1.30 a.m.

Police said there were some injury marks on the body.

Another eyewitness told police he saw Wilungbou running and falling into the drain.

Police later found that the Manipuri man had come to attend a party at a friend’s place.

Congress protests inflation, price rise in Maharashtra

3 teachers suspended for watching obscene videos in UP school

District administration today suspended three government teachers for allegedly watching obscene video films in the premises of Panigaon middle school here, an official said.

Mathura Basic Shiksa Adhikari Shyam Prakash Yadav said Headmaster Mahavir Prasad, Assistant teacher Mohar Singh and a class IV employee Jayveer Singh were suspended with an immediate effect for watching obscene videos on school’s computers.A contractual part-time teacher Praveen Kumar was fired from the job in the matter, he said.

Back in November, Akhouri Sinha, an Indian-American research scientist, was looking for some information to write a few words on the death of his team leader on an expedition to Antarctica in the seventies.

To his surprise, he found a Wikipedia entry dated May 17, 2012, saying a 990-metre high mountain at the southeast extremity of Erickson Bluffs in the south part of McDonald Heights had been named Mt. Sinha after him.

Believing firmly in the primacy of Test cricket, new ICC chairman N Srinivasan has said that the traditional five-day format “cannot be a 10-member club” forever and added that China are keen to enter the fray if cricket becomes an Olympic sport.

“Test cricket cannot be a 10-men club. So in those countries where there is an opportunity, there is interest and where there is domestic structure (the format should be promoted),” he said.

He spoke about China’s plans of taking active interest in the sport.

Brazilian legend Pele hopes that five-time champions Brazil will win the FIFA World Cup without star striker Neymar, who has been ruled out of the tournament with a fractured vertebrae during the quarterfinal against Colombia.

Pele on social networking site Twitter compared Neymar’s injury to his own during the 1962 World Cup in Chile. Pele was injured in the second group match against Czechoslovakia and was ruled out of the tournament but still Brazil won and defended the title, reports EFE.

Six soldiers killed by Al Qaeda gunmen in Yemen

At least six Yemeni army personnel were killed in an ambush Sunday by suspected Al Qaeda gunmen in Yemen.

The killings occurred in the southern province of Abyan, a security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

“The six army personnel were travelling by a military vehicle on main road town of Mahfad in Abyan,” the security source said.

“The Al Qaeda militants stopped them in a well-planned ambush, forced them out of the vehicle, and shot them dead at the scene,” the source added.
