Cong ‘meddling’ in religious affairs of Sikhs: Badal

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today strongly condemned Haryana’s move on setting up separate SGPC for the state and accused Congress of “meddling” in religious affairs of the Sikhs.

When asked to comment on the announcement made by his Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Kaithal on constituting a separate committee for the management of Gurudwaras in Haryana, Badal said, “It was a cheap step aimed at scoring brownie points in the media.”

“It is unfortunate that Congress is irrelevantly meddling in the religious affairs of the Sikhs,” he said.

Hamas slams Israel’s restrictions on Gaza fishermen

Islamic Hamas movement Sunday slammed the Israeli army’s decision of minimizing the allowed area of fishing for Gaza Strip’s fishermen from six to three miles.

“This is another additional Israeli escalation against the people in Gaza Strip,” Xinhua quoted Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, as saying in an emailed statement.

He added that Israel’s new measure “shows that the occupation (Israel) is untruthful in stopping the escalation and insists on carrying on with its aggression on our people”.

Dalai Lama urges Buddhists to halt Muslim violence

The Dalai Lama Sunday reiterated his plea to Buddhists in Myanmar and Sri Lanka to halt violence against Muslims, in a speech to tens of thousands of devotees to mark his 79th birthday.

In front of the massive crowd that included Hollywood film star Richard Gere in northern India, the Dalai Lama said the violence in both Buddhist-majority countries targeting religious minority Muslims was unacceptable. “I urge the Buddhists in these countries to imagine an image of Buddha before they commit such a crime,” Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader said on the outskirts of Leh, high in the Himalayas.

Pro-Russia rebels regroup to fight on in Ukraine

Pro-Russian insurgents driven out of their stronghold in eastern Ukraine have converged on the city of Donetsk, where their commander says they will regroup to continue their fight against the Ukrainian government.

Ukrainian troops forced the rebels out of their stronghold of Slovyansk yesterday, suggesting the government may finally be making gains in the months-long battle against the insurgency.

Chandrababu Naidu holds meeting with AP MPs

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today asked the MPs from the state to make collective and coordinated efforts to get the promises made during bifurcation realised.

Naidu, who convened a meeting of MPs from all parties a day ahead of the Budget session of Parliament, told them that the Centre has to make some legislations and issue orders for the implementation of promises made during the bifurcation of undivided Andhra Pradesh, according to an official release.

T Assembly budget session likely in August

KTR Inaugurates cycle rally

Jagan-led YSRCP delegation to meet Governor on TDP illegalities

Ingredients :

* 2 tbsp. Grated Cheese (any of your choIce)
* ½ cup Milk
* 2 small Onions (finely chopped)
* 2 Green Chillies (Hari Mirch) (finely chopped)
* 1 tsp. Ginger Root (Adrak) (finely chopped)
* 8 slIces of Bread
* 1 tbsp. Fresh Coriander Leaves (Hara Dhania) (finely chopped)
* Salt (to taste)
* Cooking Oil (as needed – for deep frying)
Crispy Cheese Rolls Method / Tarika:

1. Mix the milk, grated cheese, chopped onions, green chilli(es), ginger, coriander leaves and salt in a bowl.

2. Spoon the mixture on to each bread slice and roll it tight.

Modi to attend BRICS meet; India to take up UNSC reforms

In his first participation in a global meet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the sixth summit of BRICS countries in Brazil July 14-16 where reforms of the UN Security Council and issues like the BRICS development bank and climate change are likely to be taken up.

It will also be his first meeting as PM with top leaders of BRICS countries that also include Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa.

The sixth BRICS summit will take place in the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza and Brasilia.

Palestinian president seeks UN probe into Israeli crimes

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday asked the UN to form an international fact-finding committee to investigate what he described as ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinians.

Abbas’s comments came after his meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah with Robert Serry, the UN special envoy on the Middle East peace process, Xinhua reported.

His request was officially handed to Serry in a letter that will be delivered to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
