According to a press note issued by Hakeem Syed Ghousuddin, Former Advisor (Unani) Govt. of A.P. and member of Ibn-e-Seena Academy a three day international conference on the life and works of Ibn-e-Seena (Averroes) will be held from 25-27 October in Nalagonda.

Women Footballer forced to run pan shop

Ms. Rashmitra Patro (23), an International Women Footballer from Odisha is facing financial difficulties these days. She represented India in 2008 at Kuala Lumpur in under 16 AFC Women’s Qualifying Contests as defender. Later she represented India in 2011 at Dhaka for Senior AFC contests. In the same year she participated in Bahrain in senior women’s team. India won this series by 2-1. After this, Ms. Rashmitra Patro was removed from the team. From that time onwards her decline started. Now she is forced to run a small pan shop in Kendra Pada in Odisha.

Telangana Employees not ready to work in Andhra – Vithal Reddy

Mr. C. Vithal Reddy, President of Telangana Employees’ Union condemned the remarks of A.P. Govt. that Telangana employees are ready to work in Andhra State since the age of superannuation has been increased from 58 to 60 years in A.P. He further told that if Govt. of A.P. raises the age limit up to 120 years, even then Telangana employees are not prepared to work in A.P. He clarified that there is no truth in the statement that Telangana employees want to work in A.P. By making such remark the leaders of A.P. are making an attempt to humiliate Telangana employees.

Government outlines budget session agenda; opposition to raise price rise

The Narendra Modi government has outlined its legislative agenda, which includes bills for amending insurance laws and regulating the real estate sector, in the budget session of parliament beginning Monday even as the opposition plans to turn the heat over price rise.

The rail budget will be presented July 8 and the general budget July 10, revealing the economic priorities of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government which came to office in May.

SRK, Salman hug each other at iftaar party

The two leading Khans of Bollywood – Shah Rukh and Salman – hugged each other with warmth as they came face to face at an iftaar party here Sunday.

Both grabbed all the attention when they attended the annual iftaar party of Maharashtra legislator Baba Siddiqui here.

Salman’s father Salim Khan was also present at the event.

Shah Rukh and Salman fell out after they came to blows at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party some time back but however maintain a cordial relationship in public.

BJP leader for scrapping Article 370

BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain Sunday called for the scrapping of article 370 of the constitution that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at a programme marking the 113th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh – the precursor to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Hussain said while he had the right to buy land in Kolkata, he could not do that in Kashmir.

“I’m a Muslim. But I don’t have the right to build a house in Kashmir,” he said.

Punjab Police nabs two smugglers, seizes 12 kg heroin

Punjab Police Sunday said it had busted the supply line of a top drug cartel emanating from Pakistan, seizing 12 kg heroin which was in transit from the neighbouring country to New Delhi via Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, and arresting two smugglers.

Inspector General of Police (Amritsar border) Ishwar Chander said police teams were tracking the heroin consignment sent by Pakistan-based smugglers to their Indian counterparts which led to the recovery of the heroin valued at Rs.60 crore in the international market.

This was the second major seizure in recent days by Punjab Police.

Nine killed by rebels in Syria

At least nine people were killed by radical rebels in Syria’s southern province of Daraa, media reports said Sunday.

The Nusra Front, an Al Qaeda subgroup operating in the war-torn country, killed nine people of the same family after kidnapping them in Daraa province, Xinhua quoted the pro-government Sham FM radio as saying without giving any further details.

The Nusra Front currently controls several areas in Daraa, where the country’s three-year-old conflict first erupted.

So far, more than 100,000 people have been killed, while millions more have been forced to flee their homes.

Ukraine crisis: Pro-Russian rebels regroup in Donetsk

Thousands of pro-Russian separatists Sunday gathered at a rally in regional capital Donetsk after government forces retook some of their main strongholds in eastern Ukraine, media reports said.

There were signs that rebels from Slovyansk were falling back on Donetsk to continue the resistance. Igor Girkin, the military commander of Slavyansk, told the Russian agency Life News that he had arrived in Donetsk, leading British daily the Guardian reported.

Israeli air strike kills two Palestinians in Gaza

Two Palestinians were killed and one was moderately injured Sunday as the Israeli fighter jets launched air raids targeting central Gaza Strip, authorities said.

The two Palestinians were killed right on spot in the strike in the central Gaza Strip refugee camp of al-Maghazi, Xinhua quoted a Palestinian health ministry spokesperson as saying. The two are believed to be militants who were attempting to fire rockets into Israel.

Earlier in the day, Israeli drones carried out two raids in Gaza targeting Palestinian militants who were trying to launch rocket attacks against Israel.

Missing boy found murdered in Jamia Nagar saloon

The body of a 12-year-old boy, who had gone missing on Friday, was on Sunday found murdered in a saloon close to his house in Jamia Nagar area of southeast Delhi.

Arham Hussain, a Class 8 student, who had gone to a saloon for getting his hair cut on Friday, did not return home. His parents, who deal in construction material, then informed the police.

During investigation, police suspected the saloon as it was shut today despite being Sunday when many customers visit the saloon, a senior police officer said.

15 Gujrati workers return home from Iraq

Fifteen workers from different villages of Navsari and Valsad district today returned home from Najaf in Iraq, where they were stranded after a terror group took control of several parts of the country.

The contingent of 15 Gujarati workers were part of 200 Indians, who landed at Delhi airport from Najaf early today. Later, they were brought to Navsari from Mumbai by a special bus arranged by the state government.

Kidnapped teenager’s body found in trunk

The body of a 13-year-old boy, who was missing for two days after he went for a haircut, was found inside an iron trunk in a barber’s shop near his home, police said Sunday.

Arham Hussain, son of a businessman in south Delhi’s Jamia Nagar, had gone for a haircut to the shop near his home Friday evening, but did not return.

On Saturday, his father received a phone call demanding Rs.10 lakh as ransom.

A police team Sunday evening found Hussain’s decomposed body wrapped in a blanket inside the trunk in the same shop where the boy had gone for a haircut.

Woman passenger dies on Air New Zealand flight to Los Angeles

A woman passenger died while on board an Air New Zealand flight to the United States, the carrier has announced.

The non-stop flight, NZ2 landed in Los Angeles on July 4, after leaving Auckland.

A coroner was called and normal processes were followed, a spokeswoman said.

She was not sure how long into the over 12 hour flight the death occurred.

Sergeant Karla Ortiz from Los Angeles International Airport police said the woman who died was aged in her 50s.

It was not known if she was a New Zealander.

ISIS displaces 30,000 people in eastern Syria

The militant group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has rousted as many as 30,000 people from an eastern Syrian town after capturing it, a human rights body said Sunday.

The people were forced out of their homes over the weekend and sought refuge in nearby areas in Deir al-Zour province, Xinhua reported citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Shahel, a town in eastern countryside of Syria’s oil-rich in the province, was a stronghold of the Al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, which has been deadlocked in battles against the ISIS, an Al Qaeda-splinter group.

Congress ‘meddling’ in religious affairs of Sikhs: Parkash Singh Badal

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday strongly condemned Haryana’s move on setting up separate SGPC for the state and accused Congress of “meddling” in religious affairs of the Sikhs.

When asked to comment on the announcement made by his Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Kaithal on constituting a separate committee for the management of Gurudwaras in Haryana, Badal said, “It was a cheap step aimed at scoring brownie points in the media.”

“It is unfortunate that Congress is irrelevantly meddling in the religious affairs of the Sikhs,” he said.

Man’s body found hanging inside Jaggampet police station in AP

A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Jaggampet police station of East Godavari district, the police claimed, though his family members alleged here on Sunday that it is a “lock-up death”, after his body was found hanging in the police station.

The police said that P Srinu (35), ran a private chit fund by collecting amounts daily from small businessmen and housewives in Jaggampeta.

He ended up with a debt of Rs 1.5 crore even as pressure has mounted for re-payment of the amount.

Heat wave back in Rajasthan, Kota hottest at 41.9

Heat wave conditions on Sunday revived in parts of Rajasthan as Kota and Chittorgarh were the hottest places where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.9 degree Celsius, a met report said here.

Mercury was on an upward trend in most places by one to four degree C due to dry weather conditions in north-west of the state, the report said.

However, some parts of the state received moderate rains in the last 24 hours with Mahwa recording maximum rainfall of 4 cm, followed by Baswa 3 cm, Aligarh 2 cm.

Gujarat governor Kamla Beniwal transferred to Mizoram

Gujarat governor Kamla Beniwal, who had frosty relations with Narendra Modi when he was chief minister of the state, was sent off to Mizoram on Sunday evening in a reshuffle of governors effected by the government.

87-year-old Beniwal, whose tenure ends in November and who had a running battle with the Modi government over the appointment of Lokayukta and some legislations, will take over from Vakkom Purushothaman.

Rajasthan governor Margaret Alva, who will demit office exactly in a month, will shift to Ahmedabad to take additional charge.
