Personnel of the Pakistan Rangers today greeted their Indian counterparts guarding the international border at Attari on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and gifted sweets.

The Rangers gifted a bucket of traditional Pakistani fruits and around ten boxes of sweets to BSF officials at the
Joint Check Post of International Indo-Pak Attari/Wagah border.

On this occasion, both forces were looking relaxed and shook hands with each other and exchanged pleasantries.

‘Unstabilised’ flight approaches pose concern for Ind ATCs

Even as air traffic grows at a rapid pace in the country, it has been found that about one- fifth of missed landings in India, which force pilots to opt for a ‘go-around’, are “unstabilised”.

Kajol to act in woman-centric film produced by Ajay Devgn

Actress Kajol, who was last seen in Karan Johar’s 2010 movie ‘My Name Is Khan’, will be making a
comeback with a woman-centric film to be produced by her husband actor Ajay Devgn.

Kajol will be doing a film this year. It will hopefully go on floors from October end. It will be produced by me and
directed by (ad filmmaker) Ram Madhvani,” Ajay told PTI.

When asked about reports that the film will be a mature love story, Ajay said, “We cannot reveal the subject. It is a
woman-centric film. We are looking for a hero. I would only be producing the film… I won’t be part of it.”

Iran’s supreme leader accuses Israel of Gaza ‘Genocide’

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the Islamic world today to arm Palestinians to allow them to counter what he called Israel’s “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

In a speech marking the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr, Khamenei said Israel was acting like a “rabid dog” and “a wild wolf,” causing a human catastrophe that must be resisted.

After three weeks of fighting that has killed more than 1,100 Palestinians and 55 Israelis, he sought to pay tribute and rally support to those under attack from Israeli military forces in Gaza.

New Delhi: A Class X student was allegedly gangraped by five persons at gunpoint, including two minors, in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi.

The girl alleged in her complaint that the accused also made an MMS of the act and threatened to upload it on the Internet if she revealed her ordeal to any person.

Police said the incident took place on July 19 when she was going to school.

Gaza doctors save baby from her dead mother’s womb

When the doctors gently pulled the tiny newborn from her mother’s womb in an emergency Caesarian section, the woman had already been dead for an hour.

Twenty-three-year-old Shayma al-Sheikh Qanan was eight months pregnant when an Israeli tank shell hit her home in the central Gaza Strip town of Deir al-Balah, reducing it to rubble.

She was left in critical condition and her husband, a local radio journalist, was also badly wounded.

Eid celebrated in Telangana, Andhra

Muslims across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Tuesday celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour and gaiety and with prayers for the dead in Gaza.

Tens of thousands of Muslims offered prayers at Eidgahs or open grounds and mosques in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Attired in new clothes and wearing skull caps, men and children thronged Eidgahs and mosques for the namaz.

In their sermons, the imams condemned Israel’s attacks on innocent children and women in Gaza. They offered special ‘duas’ (supplications) seeking Allah’s blessings for the innocent victims.

Karzai urges Taliban to end violence, restrict ‘foreign terrorists’

Afghan President Hamid Karzai urged Taliban leaders to stop violence and restrict the entry of foreign terrorists in Afghanistan.

Karzai said that the Taliban should maintain peace with the fellow citizens, reports The Express Tribune.

Karzai’s statement came following the Taliban chief Mullah Omar’s Eid message that his fighters, on the ground of Jihad, had been victorious.

Taliban had launched two attacks recently at the Kabul international airport.

Karzai also said that foreign terrorists had entered Afghanistan but refrained from mentioning any country.

Kuwait Airways aircraft makes emergency landing in Brussels

A Kuwait Airways aircraft made an emergency landing at Brussels airport due to smoke in the cockpit.

According to Brussels airport spokesperson Florence Muls, the appearance of smoke in the cockpit of the aircraft forced the pilot to make the emergency landing Monday, Xinhua reported.

The plane was en route to London from Kuwait with 200 passengers on board.

The pilot noticed a smoke warning coming from the cargo section of the aircraft and decided to land as a precaution, Muls said.

Eye-wearable device can spot diabetes-related condition

Inspired by Google Glass, researchers have now developed a wearable eye-monitoring device that could lead to early detection of a common diabetes-related neurological condition.

Diabetic autonomic neuropathy is common among people with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

The new technology is a small, wearable device called a pupillometer that can hang on a pair of eye-glasses and only weighs 78 grams – slightly heavier than Google Glass.

Army commander greets Kashmiris on Eid

The commander of the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday greeted the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Lt Gen D.S. Hooda, who heads the Northern Command, conveyed his best wishes and heartfelt greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion, a statement from the army said.

He said Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, “brings with it unity, happiness and a feeling of brotherhood and this was the path to peace and progress in the state”.

Israel committing genocide in Gaza, says Iranian leader

Israel has committed “genocide” in Gaza Strip, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Tuesday.

“What Israeli authorities are doing in Gaza today is a genocide and a big historical disaster,” Khamenei said when addressing a huge crowd gathered to mark the festival of Eid al-Fitr at the end of Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

“The first and foremost issue of the Islamic world and, perhaps, humanity today is Gaza,” Xinhua quoted Khamenei as saying.

“A rabid dog and a rapacious wolf have attacked the oppressed people and the world should react to this,” Khamenei said.

US, EU to impose new sanctions on Russia

New sanctions would be imposed on Russia this week by the US and the European Union (EU) in the wake of Moscow’s continued assistance to rebels in eastern Ukraine.

“We expect the EU to take significant steps this week to target Russia’s economy,” Xinhua quoted US Deputy National Security Advisor Tony Blinken as saying.

Blinken said the US will also impose additional sanctions on Russia.

Simple blood test can now detect cancer

In a first, British researchers have devised a simple blood test that can be used to diagnose whether people have cancer or not.

Early results have shown the new test gives a high degree of accuracy in diagnosing cancer and pre-cancerous conditions from the blood of patients with melanoma, colon cancer and lung cancer.

The test will enable doctors to rule out cancer in patients presenting with certain symptoms, saving time and preventing costly and unnecessary invasive procedures, researchers said.

Youths clash with police after Eid prayers

A section of Kashmiri youths Tuesday clashed with police at a few places in the Kashmir Valley after Eid prayers Tuesday, authorities and witnesses said.

Dozens of young men pelted stones at police personnel in the towns of Baramulla, Sopore and Anantnag.

Stoning was also reported from Lal Chowk, the heart of Srinagar, as well as Hyderpora and other parts of the city’s old quarters.

UN chief calls on Israel, Palestinians to avoid more tensions

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has strongly appealed to Israel and the Palestinians to avoid further escalation of tensions amid concerns that Israeli forces dropped leaflets in the northern Gaza Strip warning residents to evacuate the area.

Miami Beach synagogue vandalised

Nazi swastikas and the name of the Islamist movement Hamas were spray-painted in red on the entrance to a Jewish synagogue in Miami Beach, local media eported today.
