King Edward VIII’s shocking letter has emerged in which he has referred the Australian Aborigines as “the lowest known form of human beings”.

The 22-page letter has suggested that he was having a miserable time during an eight-day diplomatic visit to the Caribbean island, which was part of his world tour in 1920, as he described the tropical paradise as a ‘bum place’, and also wrote about how badly he was missing Freddie, his mistress, the Mirror reported.

Pak announces squad for Lanka tour

The Pakistan cricket team has recalled former captain Younis Khan in the ODI team and dropped top order batsman Mohammad Hafeez from their Test squad for next month’s tour of Sri Lanka.

Hafeez’s struggle in Test cricket saw him being axed from the squad for the series against South Africa last year in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) before he was recalled for the series against Sri Lanka, also in the UAE.

Police uses baton charge and fire water cannons at Congress protesters in Indore

Indore Police used a mild lathicharge and fired water cannons at workers of the National Student’s Union of India (NSUI) who were protesting outside the Public Service Commission (PSC’s) office over the alleged Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) Scam.

The protesters demanded the resignation of Madhya Pradesh (MP) Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and said that they will continue to protest until Chouhan resigns.

Over 50 million children infected with tuberculosis:Study

A new study quantifying the global TB burden among children points to a huge undiagnosed reservoir of TB.

Researchers at the University of Sheffield, Imperial College London, and TB Alliance have found evidence that a large gap exists between the number of TB cases in children that get notified to authorities and the true underlying incidence.

The gap, detailed in a study published today in the journal.

Lancet Global Health, shows that TB in children is a major public health problem worldwide.

Lankan Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris arrives on a three-day visit to India

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris begins his three day visit to India starting today till July 11 to hold high-level bilateral discussions.

An MEA release said that Peiris is scheduled to hold parleys with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during his visit.

According to media reports Peiris is likely to discuss issues with his counterpart such as the Palk Bay conflict between fishermen of India and Sri Lanka and the much-discussed economic partnership agreement.

A Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the release of convicts involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi till July 22.

It also issued notice to the states in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, by restraining them from exercising power of remission for releasing the convicts from jail who are serving life sentence till further orders.

Dr. Asma Zehra, member of Muslim Personal Law Board told that the fatwas issued by the Muslim Ulema are helpful to the courts. There are counseling centers and help lines to resolve family disputes. In the same manner, Islamic Fatwas will also reduce the burdens of the courts. It is not necessary for the people to follow these fatwas. There are many cases of such nature which are pending in courts for the past 10-12 years. Due to the fatwas, the number of cases has come down.

She clarified that the Muslim of India have no intention to go against the constitution and courts.

UN envoy slams attack on Somalian government

The UN secretary-general’s special representative for Somalia Wednesday condemned Tuesday night’s attack on Villa Somalia, the seat of the Somali Federal Government in Mogadishu, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said here.

Four people including three militants were killed in an attack overnight on the presidential palace in Mogadishu. The attackers used car bomb explosion and gunfire during the assault.

The attack was the latest in a series of attacks by Al Shabaab against Somalia’s political institutions, Dujarric said at a daily news briefing here, quoting Kay.

10-year-old girl raped on Panchayat chief’s directive

A ten-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour on the diktat of a Panchayat chief in Bokaro district, the police said.

The 25-year-old rape accused allegedly dragged the girl to a nearby bush and raped her on the directive of Bhopal Pasi, the Panchayat chief of Swang Gulgulia Dhoura village in Bokaro district’s Gomia police station area, at a panchayat meeting on Tuesday evening.

Both the rape accused and Bhopal were arrested on Wednesday on the basis of the girl’s statement, Bokaro SP Jitendra Kumar Singh said.

GMR delegation calls on KCR

$10 mn for information on leader of Islamic State: US

The US has offered a bounty of 10 million dollars since 2011 for the information on Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the top leader of the self-proclaimed “Islamic State” spanning parts of Iraq and Syria, the State Department said Wednesday.

The reward was offered in October 2011 but remains “active” as Washington is seeking information that can lead to al-Baghdadi’s location and arrest, Xinhua quoted the State Department as stating in response to an enquiry by the press.
