You need to start your post Ramadan planning from NOW.The scholars agree that the sign of an accepted Ramadan is that you’re steadfast in action after Ramadan ends. As the prophet Mohammad (sala Allah ‘alihi wa salam) said:

“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent even if they’re small.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

So choose a worship that you were blessed with doing in Ramadan, for example attending Fajr at the mosque, reading the Quran daily, or praying at least two Rakah during the night, and commit to doing it as a minimum every single day of the year.

Ingredients:

Basmati rice, soaked, 1 1/2 cups
Oil, 2 tablespoons
Cloves, 4-5
Black cardamoms, 4

Green cardamoms, 4-5
Cinnamon, 2 one-inch sticks
Bay leaves, 4
Black peppercorns, 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon
Deep fried onions, 1/2 cup
Ginger-garlic paste, 1 tablespoon
Coriander seeds, 2 tablespoons
Fennel seeds (saunf), 1 tablespoon
Cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon
Chicken stock cubes, 2
Yogurt, 1/2 cup
Salt, to taste

Drinking in middle age doubles memory impairment risks

A new study has revealed that middle-aged adults with a history of problem drinking are more than twice as likely to suffer from severe memory impairment in later life.

The study by researchers from the University of Exeter Medical School highlights the hitherto largely unknown link between harmful patterns of alcohol consumption and problems with memory later in life – problems which may place people at a high risk of developing dementia.

DDA puts rider on flats; ownership to come only after 5 years

Ahead of rolling out a major housing scheme under which around 26,000 flats will be on offer, Delhi Development Authority has proposed to approve ownership of flats only after five years of possession, primarily to keep away middlemen from the allotment process.

DDA Vice chairman Balvinder Kumar said the proposal has been mooted to discourage speculative investment and keep away the middlemen who often sell the flats at higher rates after getting possession.

Sensex falls for 3rd straight day; L&T plunges 7.98%

The benchmark BSE Sensex fell over 61 points in early trade Wednesday on selling by funds and retail investors ahead of monthly expiry in the derivatives segment amidst lower-than expected corporate earnings by some firms.

The 30-share barometer, which had lost 280.62 points in the previous two sessions, moved down by another 61.40 points, or 0.29 percent, to 25,929.83 with capital goods, realty, metal and healthcare stocks leading the fall.

Also, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty shed 18.60 points, or 0.24 percent, to 7,730.10.

Bangalore’s rape-tainted school reopens for all classes from today

The Vibgyor High School in the city’s upscale eastern suburb was on Wednesday reopened for all classes from Class 1 with new security measures to ensure the safety of students.

On July 28, the school was reopened for students of Classes 5 to 10, almost two weeks after it shut following outrage over the alleged rape of a six-year-old student by the school’s staffers in a classroom.

Two more men were arrested on Tuesday in the case, which had caused public outrage and massive protests across the state.

Yeddyurappa’s son to contest Assembly bypoll

Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa’s son B Y Raghavendra will contest from Shikaripur constituency, which the state BJP strongman had represented, in the August 21 by-elections being held for three seats.

Yeddyurappa had vacated Shikaripura seat after he made his Lok Sabha debut in the May elections from Shimoga constituency, which his son had represented earlier.

State BJP President Prahalad Joshi announced names of the party candidates. Mahantesh Kavatagimath (Chikkodi-Sadalga) and Oblesh (Bellary) are the other candidates.

AIBA against appointment of former CJ as Governor

All India Bar Association today wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi objecting to the reported move to appoint former Supreme Court Chief Justice P Sathasivam as Governor of Karnataka maintaining that it would be a “deviation” from the Constitutional principles.

“The appointment of Justice P Sathasivam as Governor of Karnataka will be a deviation from the cherished principles enshrined in the Constitution,” Adish C Aggarwala, Chairman, AIBA said in the letter to Modi, a copy of which was released to the media.

Situation in Belgaum peaceful, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

Situation in the border district of Belgaum which witnessed violence over removal of a pro-Maharashtra sign board at Yellur village was peaceful and under control today, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said.

“The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders and the situation there now is peaceful,” he told reporters here.

Siddaramaiah said the government had taken action to remove the signboard on the basis of a high court order and it would not allow anyone to take law into their own hands.

6-year-old girl sexually harassed by man in Karnataka

A six-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by a man following which he was arrested, police said on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old man, a resident of Mysore and a computer repairer, lured the girl yesterday by giving her chocolate and harassed her sexually, police said.

The girl’s mother who saw the man misbehaving with her daughter immediately called police who took him into custody.

According to a new study, higher consumption of fruits and vegetables is associated with a lower risk of mortality from all causes, particularly from cardiovascular diseases.

“The results support current recommendations to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables to promote health and longevity,” researchers added.

To get this figure, the team from China and the US analysed results of 16 studies involving 833,234 participants and 56,423 deaths.

An engineering student has been arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a 23-year-old woman software engineer by making an obscene video clip of her, police said on Monday.

Rishabh Katodia (25), a civil engineering student who belongs to Bhavnagar in Gujarat, was arrested on Sunday after a written complaint was filed by the woman alleging that he raped and blackmailed her for the last many months, a sub-inspector at Bhanwar Kuan police station said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said that he was hurt by former industry minister Narayan Rane’s personal comments against him.

He also said a public spat would have confused the party workers and helped the opposition, so he requested Rane to meet the party high command and talk to them.

Revealed: 40 per cent college and school students watch rape porn in Goa

Forty per cent of college and higher secondary school boys in Goa watch rape porn and statistically end up watching 86,000 rape videos per day, according to a survey.

The survey was conducted by Rescue, a Karnataka-based organisation promoting cyber-ethics.

Abhishek Clifford, CEO of Rescue, said Thursday 47 percent degree and under-graduate students watch child porn in the state.

Clifford said: “Eighty percent college and higher secondary school boys watch porn and 40 percent of them watch rape porn regularly. On an average they watch 28 rape porn videos a week.”

Curfew in Saharanpur to be relaxed for 5 hours today

Curfew in the communal violence-hit Saharanpur will be relaxed for five hours today, a senior district official said.

Curfew will be eased from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the new city, Saharanpur District Magistrate Sandhya Tiwari said, adding that it will be from 2 PM to 7 PM in old city areas.

Yesterday the curfew was relaxed for four hours and the relaxation period passed off peacefully.

She further said that if the situation remains calm then the curfew might be released from 7 AM to 5 PM on Thursday.

Gigi Barker has created the skin chair and skin stool set from a pheromone-impregnated silicone base that helped her with the creation of human skin replica, Metro.co.uk reported.

In this project, called ‘A Body of Skin’, Barker had to study about the texture of skin and shape of bodies in order to re-create the varieties of skin surfaces and volume of flesh.

One of the messages he received was “Shut up, preacher. You cannot save yourself. Idiot. You pathetic old preacher”. And another one included the message “She will not come out of this hell. She’s mine. Anyone who prays for her will die”.
