A new study has recently documented the advantages of organic food and crops over their conventional counterparts.

The findings suggested that organic foods and crops have 18 to 69 percent higher concentrations of antioxidant compounds and the levels of pesticide residues were usually 10-fold to 100-fold lower.

Left, TJAC spearhead Telangana shutdown over passage of AP Reorganisation Amendment Bill in LS

Left Front parties and the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) are spearheading a day-long shutdown today in protest against passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Amendment Bill in Lok Sabha on Friday.

The shutdown is underway across the state of Telangana, and has reportedly affected normal life.

Public transport services were disrupted by agitators at several places in the region. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party stayed away from the agitation.

Satish Upadhyay takes charge as BJP’s Delhi unit president

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan formally handed over charge of the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to Satish Upadhyay here on Saturday.

Earlier today, BJP activists had celebrated his appointment outside the office.

Upadhyay was appointed on July 9. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had announced his appointment.

Upadhyay succeeds Harsh Vardhan, who had resigned from the post after being elected an MP from Chandni Chowk and elevated to the Union Cabinet.

He is also the Chairman of South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee. (ANI)

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, who paid a visit to Lady Hardinge Medical College, today said the Health Ministry is trying to upgrade the facilities in hospitals.

Dr Vardhan said, “Reducing infant mortality rate is a priority. No pregnant women should die because she could not get better medicine, hospital and best treatment on time. We are talking to our doctors’ junior doctors and patients to improve the condition. It is a slow process. We are trying to improve the cleanliness at the hospital.

Congress Spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Saturday said the appointment of Nripendra Mishra as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s principal secretary is against the spirit of their parliamentary mandate.

“This decision of the government is person specific. This is against the spirit of their parliamentary mandate. When we went for the change of personnel in government offices through constitutional ways, they made a hue and cry over it,” said Singhvi.

Schools sought increase in fee structure

On Friday, private schools in the state sought an increase in the fee structure. The schools contradict the decision of the government to implement GO No. 42 issued in 2010 prescribing an annual fee structure between Rs 9,000 and Rs 12,000.

The school representatives wanted the government to prescribe fees taking into consideration the inflation in the past four years.

The “factory reset“ function on Android handsets fails to properly delete data after retrieving more than a thousand photos of men and women in “various stages of undress“ from second-hand phones, warned the Security researchers.

Avast conducted the study by using advanced data retrieval techniques to recover data from 20 second-hand smartphones purchased from eBay. Over 40,000 photos were recovered including “more than 250 selfies of what appear to be the previous owner’s manhood”.

Pakistan charity sends aid to North Waziristan refugees

A Pakistan Islamic charity has sent six trucks of relief material for refugees in Bannu, who have been displaced by the Pakistan Army’s Ooperation Zarb-i-Azb to oust Taliban militants from North Waziristan.

The Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF), a charity linked to Jamaat-ud-Dawa, has sent the aid.

The relief goods consisted mostly of dry rations.

Missing man’s dead body found
(Siasat News): Narsingi police has found the dead body of a mysteriously missing man from a bowli. Police said that the deceased Tapan Roy, 28, native of Assam and resident of Kokapet.

He was missing from July 6. He had left the house saying that he was going to attend his duty but never returned.

A complaint was lodged with the police and later, his dead body was found in a bowli. Police has registered a case of suspicious death and further investigations are on.

Industrial output soars to 19-month high of 4.7% in May

Driven by improved performance of the manufacturing sector, industrial production growth soared to 19-month high of 4.7 percent in May raising hopes of a sustained recovery.

The factory output number has remained in positive territory for second month in a row mainly due to a better show by manufacturing, mining and power sectors and higher output of capital goods.

The output, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), had contracted by 2.5 percent in May last year.

Corrupt practices during Congress rule destroyed Andhra Pradesh’s brand image as an investment destination and led to a decline in its industrial growth by half a per cent, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu said here on Friday.

Releasing a white paper on industries, which is the third in the series of white papers on various sectors, he said the industrial sector contributed 24.11% to AP’s gross domestic product until 2004 when the Telugu Desam was in power but fell to 23.61% during the decade of Congress rule.

Jobless man hangs himself to death

A 29-year-old man hanged himself to death at his residence on Thursday night.
G Anudeep (29), S/o Balraju R/O Parsigutta of Chilkalguda, who was a student, committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence.

Distraught over not finding a job since last few months, he took the extreme step.

His body has been shifted to Gandhi Hospital Mortuary for postmortem, and will be handed over to his relatives after autopsy. A case has been registered by Chilkalguda police.
