JK police issues alert for two suspects in Poonch blast

Jammu and Kashmir Police has issued an alert for two persons accused in an IED blast in Poonch district after they escaped from custody soon after their arrest, by stirring passions of local residents.

A police team headed by SHO Gursai police station in Poonch, Inspector Sadakat Hussain had managed to arrest two persons involved in an IED blast from Ikhwan Chowk yesterday, police sources said.

The sources said while Irfan Ahmad Kakad, a resident of Poonch was arrested from downtown, the team had raided the rented residence of Abdul Majeed Ganaie at Batamaloo.

Two arrested in RRB question paper leak case

Two persons were arrested today in connection with suspected question paper leak of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examination for loco pilot, police said here today.

The duo were arrested from two centres, where the RRB examination was to be conducted by the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police.

“As per the information gathered through surveillance and other means it appears to be paper leak, subject to confirmation by the RRB,” IG STF Sujit Pandey told reporters here.

Sri Lanka’s off spinner Sachithra Senanayake banned from international cricket

Sri Lanka’s off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake has reportedly been banned from international cricket after his bowling action against England was proved illegal by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The decision came on Saturday following a long investigation into the matter by the ICC.

According to Sport 24, the 29-year old off spinner was reported by umpires Ian Gould and Marais Erasmus who alleged foul play in his bowling action against England during the Royal London series in May.

The Narendra Modi government wants to do extraordinary work in the health sector, union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said here Sunday.

The minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government wanted the cause of healthcare to become a “mass movement” in the country.

“Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, we want to do extraordinary work in the health sector,” said Harsh Vardhan, speaking at the inaugural foundation day of International Vaish Federation.

Vaish is a trader community among which the BJP arguably enjoys a considerable support.

Dead lizard found in Bihar mid-day meal, 25 children taken ill.

At least 25 children of a government school in Bihar’s Siwan district fell ill Friday after eating mid-day meal in which a dead lizard was found, officials said.

The children were admitted to a government hospital in Siwan and are said to be out of danger, said Durgesh Kumar, a district official.

The children complained of uneasiness after eating the meal at the Sonbarsa middle school in Maharajganj block, the district official said.

Samples of the meal were collected by police.

The PTA now wants 23 non-HIV students, who live in the same Church-run children’s home along with the 13 HIV-positive students, to be dropped from the school.

NID becomes 41st institute of national importance

India’s premier design institute, the National Institute of Design(NID), has been accorded the status of “institution of national importance” by an act of parliament, making it the 41st institute to have such a status.

This is the first bill under the Narendra Modi government to be passed within a span of three days in both the houses. It was first passed by the Rajya Sabha Monday, followed by a unanimous passage in the Lok Sabha Wednesday.

Don’t delay admissions in professional courses, Naidu urges KCR

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Friday urged his Telangana counterpart K.Chandrasekhar Rao to immediately start counselling for admissions into engineering and medical colleges as more than two lakh students are anxiously waiting for it.

Voicing his concern over the delay in starting the admission process, Naidu wrote a letter to Rao saying his government is ready to take up counselling for admissions into professional colleges.

ISIS inspiring Pakistani militants, says expert

The ISIS in Iraq is influencing Pakistani militants, with at least one group declaring allegiance to the insurgents, a Pakistani security analyst has said.

Muhammad Amir Rana said in Dawn Sunday that the Pakistani militant group Tehreek-i-Khilafat’s declaration of allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) “has surprised many”.

The ISIS, now calling itself the Islamic State, is now in control of vast areas of Iraq.

This “does indicate that ISIS has started to inspire some individuals and groups in Pakistan with similar objectives”, Rana said.

Woman dies after sterilisation in Bharatpur

A 28-year-old woman, who had undergone sterilisation at the public health centre of Uchchain town in Bharatpur district, died of alleged faulty post-operative care and negligence of doctors, police said.

The woman, identified as Maya Devi alias Buddho, had undergone sterilisation at a camp at the health centre on July 11 and died on the same day while she was being shifted to Jaipur for treatment.
