A new study has revealed that people with mobility impairments under age 65 are more prone to smoking.

The research by Miriam Hospital found that smokers with mobility impairments were less likely to attempt quitting than those without mobility impairments, and evidence-based, quit-smoking treatments may not be sufficient for this population.

A new study has revealed that 72 percent Muslims in America approve of President Barack Obama.

The study conducted by Gallup based its finding on a sample population that consisted of young Muslims mostly, Politico reported.

An elderly man was beaten to death allegedly by his nephew and his aides in Gajraula area of Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit, police said in today.

Kulwant Singh (60) was beaten to death by his nephew Devendra Singh and his aides Shamsher Singh and Harjinder Singh in Mandaria village last evening, the police said.

The mayor of a small fishing town in the south of Mexico has ‘married’ a crocodile in a symbolic ceremony that is part of a local tradition.

Joel Vasquez Rojas, the mayor of San Pedro Huamelula, married the reptile – dressed in a white gown – at the city hall and then shared a dance in front of packed party of local residents.

According to local tradition, the crocodile is a princess whose marriage to the town mayor will bring in an abundance of seafood for fisherman on the Pacific coast, ‘metro.co.uk’ reported.

Gaza toll rises to 170

The death toll in Gaza rose to 170 Sunday after four more Palestinians, including a father and son, were killed in three separate airstrikes by Israel on southern Gaza Strip, authorities said.

More than 10 people were also injured in the three Israeli airstrikes on the southern Gaza Strip towns of Rafan and Khan Younis, Xinhua quoted a Gaza health ministry spokesperson as saying.

Ukraine denies shelling Russia’s border town

Ukraine said Sunday it had nothing to do with the shelling of a Russian town earlier in the day, which left one dead and two more injured.

“Ukrainian servicemen did not, do not and will not deliver fire against the neighbouring country’s territory or residential areas,” Xinhua quoted Ukrainian foreign ministry as saying in a statement.

It also urged Moscow to be “objective and unbiased” when assessing the causes of the incident in the city of Donetsk in Russia’s Rostov region, which lies near the border with Ukraine’s Lugansk region.

A case was booked against BJP’s Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh and 20 others here today after they allegedly tried to build a wall around a religious place near a roadside in Mangalhat area, even as three police platoons reached the area to maintain law and order.

The MLA and 20 others forcibly tried to “illegally” construct a wall near the roadside religious structure where prohibitory orders are already in place. The mob has been dispersed by police personnel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) V Satyanarayana told PTI tonight.
