The visitors scored 457 and 391/9d in their two innings while the hosts were bowled out for 496 in their only essay.

“We cannot control the pitch. We have to make do of what we have and there have been a lot of positives in this match,” said Dhoni.

Baba Ramdev’s close aide Ved Pratap Vaidik on Sunday courted a controversy after his picture with 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed was released.

He, however, said that the photograph was released by him.

“Yes this photograph was released by me. I have my photo with Nawaz Shareef and other politicians too. I was there for 20 days and met several people there,” said Vaidik.

He said that he met Saeed on July 2 in Lahore and had an hour long chat with him.

PIO gets 10 yrs for rape

Two persons, including a 29- year- old Indian- origin man, have been sentenced to jail for raping a 12- year- old girl in the United Kingdom.

Vinayak Rama and Reynold Carvalho have been jailed for raping the girl in a forest area in Leicester on October 1 last year.

Rama has been sentenced to 10 years and six months after admitting two counts of rape.

Carvalho has been jailed for eight years and three months after pleading guilty to one offence of rape, the Leicester Mercury reported.

BJP MLA booked for bid to build wall around a religious place in AP

A case was booked against BJP’s Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh and 20 others here on Sunday after they allegedly tried to build a wall around a religious place near a roadside in Mangalhat area, even as three police platoons reached the area to maintain law and order.

The MLA and 20 others forcibly tried to “illegally” construct a wall near the roadside religious structure where prohibitory orders are already in place. The mob has been dispersed by police personnel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) V Satyanarayana told PTI late Sunday night.

Man tries to slit wife’s throat

A man allegedly tried to slit his wife’s throat and also injured himself following an argument in south Delhi’s Munirka this evening, police said.

The couple, identified as Kripa and her husband Ram Kumar, hail from Darjeeling in West Bengal. Both of them have been admitted to hospital.

“The incident happened when the couple had an argument over some matter. In a fit of rage, Kumar tried to slit his wife’s throat with a sharp-edged weapon before injuring himself,” police said.

8 killed in explosions in Egypt’s Sinai

At least eight persons including a security officer were killed and several others injured in two successive explosions in the provincial capital of El-Arish in North Sinai, the interior ministry said.

A mortar shell, supposed to be fired by terrorists, struck a residential area near a security compound, killed seven and injured 25 in the city, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.

The explosion took place late yesterday night in a residential area located near the North Sinai Security Directorate.

Kerala PDP Chairman and 2008 Bangalore serial blasts prime accused Abdul Nasser Madani would be released from jail today on health grounds.

Madani was, on July 11, granted one-month bail by the Supreme Court while taking note that he is an under-trial prisoner who was already behind the bars for the last four years and was suffering from various ailments, including diabetes and vision-threatening ailment in both eyes.

The Karnataka government had opposed the bail and said that it was ready to make all arrangements required for his treatment inside the jail premises.

An Indian-origin woman was found dead in a swimming pool of a house, where she was attending a party, and local police are investigating the drowning incident.

The body of the victim, identified as Rajkumari Motwani, 55, was found at the bottom of the swimming pool when residents of a home in Long Island were cleaning up their backyard following a party on Saturday night.

They noticed a body in the deep end of the backyard pool.

Tata Power, which is pursuing “aggressive growth plans”, has sought shareholders’ nod to raise up to Rs 7,000 crore through issue of non-convertible debentures.

“Approval has been sought for raising up to Rs 7,000 crore through issue of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on private placement basis,” according to notice sent out to shareholders for company’s annual general meeting to be held on August 13.

The approval would be valid for a period of one year and the amount would be within the overall borrowing limits.

Nixon claims ‘smart girls’ don’t swear

Richard Nixon has claimed in the newly-released series of White House recordings that none of the smart girls swear.

The former 37th U.S. President believed that men swearing showed “masculinity” while women dropping the F-bombs lose “all femininity,” the New York Post reported.

Nixon mentioned in the tapes that people would tolerate a drunken man who swears and would see it as a sign of masculinity or some other damn thing, in fact everybody does it.

He further added that women who used foul languages were an “awful unattractive people”, as they lose their femininity.

Sticky Tamarind Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

1 kg chicken wings

1 Tbsp chilli garlic paste

2 Tbsp soy sauce

2 Tbsp tamarind puree

2 Tbsp ginger minced

1/2 cup vinegar

1 Tbsp black pepper

1 Tbsp jaggery or honey

2 Tbsp lemon juice

1 cup flour

1 cup corn starch

3 Tbsp oil ( to bake) or fry

Method:

First wash and pat dry the chicken wings.

Make a marinade using soy sauce, tamarind puree, garlic pasta, some ginger, vinegar, lemon juice, flour and corn starch.

Pour over the chicken wings and marinate for 2 hours.
