Gas leakage in Kachiguda, four injured
(Siasat News): Four persons injured when gas leakage affected them. Sub-inspector Kachiguda Navin Kumar said that in the house of one Mallesh, due to Boanalu festival, special recipes were cooked.

During the cooking, the gas leakage from LPG cylinder sent shock waves as there was a small fire in the house in which Bhagyalaxmi, 63, Amarnath, 35, Nitin, 8 and the cook Nagesh, 38 got partially injured.

Seven kids killed in Madhya Pradesh wall collapse

Seven children were killed when the wall of their tenement collapsed in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district, police said on Monday.

The children who were killed were between six months to 16 years of age. Nine people were injured in the wall collapse that took place late Sunday following downpour.

Officials said the wall between two houses collapsed, burying 16 people. Two of the injured are in a critical condition.

What if humidity in the air can be used to power your smartphones or iPads? With new findings that water droplets can generate small amounts of electricity, this appears possible in near future.

Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have discovered that when water droplets spontaneously jump away from superhydrophobic surfaces during condensation, they can gain electric charge in the process.

Apart from charging electronic devices, the new system could also produce clean water.

Tech Mahindra forms jt venture with Midad Holding

Midad Holding, a subsidiary of Al Fozan, a leading group with diversified business interests in Saudi Arabia, has signed a joint venture agreement with Tech Mahindra, a specialist provider of connected solutions, the company has said.

The joint venture, to be called Tech Mahindra Arabia, will be headquartered in Al Khobar.

Tech Mahindra Arabia will also have presence across other major cities in Saudi and will be functional post the regulatory approvals.

Telangana rejects Home Ministry’s proposal to form joint force for Hyderabad

The Telangana Government has dismissed the suggestions of the Home Ministry to form a joint force comprising police of the new state and residuary Andhra Pradesh to control the law and order in Hyderabad and set up a special cell to deal with hate crimes there.

The K Chandrasekhar Rao Government, which is at loggerheads with the Centre over Polavaram Bill, has sent a missive to the Home Ministry rejecting its proposal to set up the joint force comprising policemen from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for maintenance of law and order in Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

Electric bus pilot project to be launched in Gujarat

As part of efforts to ensure a cleaner and greener environment, the Gujarat Government will soon introduce a pilot project to run ‘electric buses’ for public transport between the state capital Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.

Moving ahead, the state-run Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd (GPCL) has invited expression of interest from the potential companies interested in the project which has been flashed on its official Web site.

Israel launches ground operation inside northern Gaza

Israel for the first time has launched a ground operation inside northern Gaza to silence Hamas rocket fire and thousands of Palestinians fled their homes after the Israeli military threatened to widen its assault that has killed nearly 170 people in six days.

Ignoring global calls for a ceasefire, Israeli troops — thought to be naval commandos — briefly entered Gaza early yesterday and raided a missile launching site. This is the first time Israeli forces have acknowledged they’ve entered Gaza in what appeared to be the ground assault.

Gold futures down at Rs 28,269 per 10 gm

Gold futures fell 0.35 per cent to Rs 28,269 per 10 grams today as speculators locked-in gains amid a weak global trend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October fell Rs 84 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 28,269 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 18 lots.

Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in August declined by Rs 68 or 0.24 per cent to Rs 28,288 per 10 grams in 464 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in gold futures was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators and a weak trend overseas.

Samsung set to suspend business with China over ‘child labor’ accusations

Tech giant Samsung has reportedly suspended business with China as the country face ‘child labor’ accusations .

Earlier this week, watchdog China Labor Watch published a report in which they found evidence of child labor at the Shinyang Electronics factory in Dongguan, China, The Verge reported.

Samsung revealed that instances of illegal hiring may have taken place at the Dongguan factory, despite conducting audits at the location three times since 2013 and most recently on June 25th this year.

Delhi: Rain Likely in Some Parts of the City

The much awaited-respite brought by the monsoon rains in Delhi is likely to continue with the weatherman predicting rain and thundershowers in some areas.

“The sky will remain partly cloudy. Rain/thundershowers might occur in some areas,” a MeT official said.

The mercury is likely to settle at 37 degrees Celsius.

Minimum temperature recorded this morning was 25.9 degrees Celsius and the humidity recorded was 79 per cent.

The city recorded rainfall of 25.6 mm during the day, which brought down the mercury to a pleasant 27 degrees.

Treat Juveniles Accused of Rape on Par with Adults: Maneka Gandhi

Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi on Sunday said juveniles accused of heinous crimes like rape should be treated on par with adult offenders.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, she said according to the police, 50 per cent of all sexual crimes were committed by “16-year-olds who know the Juvenile Justice Act so they can do it.”

“But now for premeditated murder, rape, if we bring them into the purview of the adult world, then it will scare them,” she said.

The United States is constantly pressurizing Chinese cyber-spying activities whereby a Chinese national, Su Bin living in Canada was charged by the US Justice Department

The business owner was charged alongside two unidentified hackers for unlawfully extracting information on a military aircraft bent by the U.S. defense contractors.

The Chinese national and hackers, successful in obtaining information on Lockheed Martin-built F-22, F-35 fighter jets and Boeing’s C-17 military transport aircraft, had been allegedly working from 2009 to 2013.

India at No. 2 place in latest ICC ODI Rankings

India has been ranked at the number two spot in the latest Reliance ICC ODI Rankings that were released on Sunday.

Australia has topped the ODI rankings, while South Africa’s maiden ODI series win in Sri Lanka has helped the nation to rise up in the latest rankings, The Dawn reported.

South Africa are currently at the number four spot behind third placed Sri Lanka and are followed by England in the fifth place.

Meanwhile, India’s archrival Pakistan is placed at number six, the report added.

Sensex up 71 points in opening trade on positive economic data

The benchmark BSE Sensex recovered over 71 points in opening trade today on the back of fresh buying by funds after industrial production grew to 19-month high of 4.7 per cent in May amid positive cues from other Asian markets.

The 30-share barometer rose by 71.41 points, or 0.28 per cent, to 25,095.76 with stocks of auto, FMCG, oil & gas sectors, leading the gains.

The index had lost over 1,075 points in the previous four sessions.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 12.05 points, or 0.16 per cent, to 7,471.65.

Husband, father-in-law of deceased woman arrested

The husband and father-in-law of a woman, who had died under mysterious circumstances just eight months after her marriage, have been arrested by the Delhi Police.

The woman had died on July 10 after drowning in a water barrel kept in the bathroom which was bolted from the inside, police said today.

Though, initially the case appeared to be a suicide, the victim’s parents had alleged that her husband Inderjeet Singh had killed her as he was having an affair with some other woman, they said.

14-yr-old boy’s body found hanging from tree

A 14-year-old child’s body was today found hanging from a tree in Chakeri area here, police said.

“Manish’s body was found hanging from a tree close to his house in Chakeri’s Shiv Katra area this morning,” a police spokesperson said.

Munna, the victim’s father, alleged that his son had been missing from last two days and he has reported it to the police, but the police spokesperson said Manish had been missing only from last evening.

Powers to appoint the Leader of Opposition (LoP) is with the Lok Sabha Speaker and not the government, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said today.

“The Speaker has all the powers to decide who will be LoP. We (government) cannot do anything. Moreover, people of India also refused them (Congress) to have that much of a majority to claim the LoP’s post,” the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs told a press conference here.

Robbers loot house holding infant girl hostage at gunpoint

The 11-month-old daughter of a woman was allegedly held hostage at gunpoint by a man while his accomplice looted jewellery and other valuables worth about Rs 2 lakh from her house in north-east Delhi’s Mansarovar Park, police said today.

The robbers allegedly assaulted the woman when she tried to raise an alarm. The victim Divya, 23, is a housewife and her husband Vishal (27) works for a private firm in Gurgaon.

The incident occurred around 10 pm on Friday when Vishal was out of home and Divya was with her baby daughter Shreshti.

PIO mom jailed for abducting her son

A 38-year-old Indian-origin woman was arrested at an airport in the US for abducting her son and taking him to India nearly eight years ago.

Padmashini Devi Drees, 38, was arrested at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. Her son Drew, now 10, has been reunited with his father Dean Drees, the McKinney Courier-Gazette reported.

Padmashini is in the Collin County jail on a $10,000 bail. In addition to the child custody charge, a state jail felony, she is also on an immigration hold.

Digvijay Singh ends fast over delayed compensation to farmers

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Sunday ended his seven-day-long fast here seeking immediate disbursal of compensation to farmers affected by the crop damage and a CBI probe into alleged MPPEB scam.

Singh also gave a 15-day ultimatum to administration to do the needful and threatened to approach court of law if “justice is not done to affected farmers”.

Singh ended his fast, which he had begun near the collectorate on Monday, in presence of his MLA son Jaivardhan Singh, former MP and his brother Laxman Singh and the state unit party vice-president Rameshwar Neekhra.

Assault on docs: AIIMS strike called off

A strike by doctors at AIIMS here today was called off late in the evening after hospital officials agreed to fulfill their demands for adequate security following an attack by a patient’s relatives on three senior resident doctors.

The doctors had gone on an indefinite strike demanding adequate security after alleging that the kin of a patient admitted in Surgical Emergency brandished guns and beat up the three doctors who were on duty. The doctors said that those involved in the incident then fled the hospital campus in an SUV after breaking the AIIMS main gate.
