In separate cases, two pedestrians were killed in road accidents in the city.

In Saidabad police limits, 60-year-old R Sravan Kumar died of injuries which he suffered after being hit by car near Jai Hind Hotel crossroads in Saidabad police limits on July 28. He was undergoing treatment at the OGH where he died on Wednesday.

BJP appoints Dharmendra Pradhan as in-charge of the state

Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been made BJP’s incharge of elections in Jharkhand where assembly polls are due early next year.

BJP President Amit Shah made the appointment and asked Pradhan to take charge of party’s Jharkhand poll affairs with immediate effect.

Shah also made party MP Bhupinder Yadav as been co-incharge of the party’s election affairs in Jharkhand.

The two leaders will work in close coordination with party leaders in Jharkhand and start the process of selecting party candidates in the state.

Attempt to catch moving bus proves fatal

A 42-year-old man died of injuries which he suffered while trying to catch a moving RTC bus.

The accident occurred in Jeedimetla police limits on Tuesday evening. The deceased, R Srinivas, an employee of a private firm, suffered head injury after falling down from the footboard of RTC bus. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on admission.

Man found injured in suspicious conditions dies at Gandhi Hospital

A 25-year-old man, who was found unconscious with multiple injuries in Mahankali police limits, died at the Gandhi Hospital.

According to Mahankali Inspector K Satyanarayana, the deceased, D Chiranjeevi was found injured near his residence in Mahankali on July 27. He was immediately rushed to the Gandhi Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Tuesday night. He is suspected to have been hit by some unidentified persons with lethal weapons. He was a labourer and native of Chintapalli village of Nalgonda district.

Police registered a case of suspicious death and began investigations.

Financial problems drive mason to suicide

A 28-year-old mason committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling allegedly due to financial problems.

The deceased G Sailu, took the extreme step at his residence in BS Maktha on Tuesday night. On information, police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary where an autopsy was conducted on Wednesday.

Driver held for bid to rape 10-yr-old girl

The Chaderghat Police on Wednesday arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl.

The accused Baba alias David, a driver, was arrested from his residence in Kamala Nagar. The arrest was made following a complaint by victim’s parents, according to Chaderghat inspector LR Venkat Reddy.

14-year-old boy drowns in well

The Keesra Police have retrieved the body of a 14-year-old boy who got accidentally drowned in an agriculture well.

According to police, the boy, S Rohit, a student, went to Mallareddy Agricultural land near his residence in Rampally along with his friends on Tuesday. However, he fell into the well while playing. The body was fished out from the well on Wednesday morning and was handed over to the relatives after an autopsy was conducted at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary. (INN)

A man, said to be under mental depression, broke into the Andhra Pradesh state Legislative Assembly early Wednesday.

Police arrested the man and were questioning him. He has been identified as Ashok Reddy, a native of Warangal district of Telangana.

Very heavy rainfall likely in Mumbai in next 24 hrs: IMD

An alert of “very heavy” rainfall in Mumbai has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre here on Tuesday, with the rains expected to intensify in the next 24 hours.

“There is low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal and there is an outshore trough running from the Maharashtra coast to the coastline of Karnataka. This has strengthened the winds along the coastline and have further activated the monsoons,” IMD, Mumbai director V K Rajeev told PTI.

The IMD expects “very heavy” rainfall in Mumbai and the Konkan region over the next 24 hours, he said.

Bangalore to shut down Thursday over rapes

About 50 pro-Kannada organisations have called for a shutdown in the city Thursday to protest the increasing incidents of rape of minors and crimes against women.

“Associations of government employees, lawyers, hotels, taxis and autos and women’s groups are supporting us to ensure a 12-hour shutdown tomorrow (Thursday) from 6 a.m. to protest the spate of crimes against women, especially minors in the city,” Vatal Nagaraj, president of the umbrella group of organisations, told reporters here Wednesday.

Delhi Metro to get 400 more feeder buses

Delhi Metro will soon get 400 more feeder buses as the government has sanctioned Rs.6 crore for these, an official statement said Wednesday.

“As many as 400 more feeder buses are proposed to be added to the existing fleet of 117 Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) feeder buses on 16 routes. The transport department has sanctioned Rs.6 crore for this,” the Delhi transport department statement said.

The buses have a seating capacity of 27 passengers each.

The department has also issued 24 permits to these feeder buses on four routes.

Rescue operations underway in Pune village landslide

Rescue operations are underway in Malin village of Pune district”s Ambegaon tehsil where a landslide had occurred due to heavy rainfall earlier this morning. According to the locals ten persons have died and more than a hundred are still trapped. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had sent seven teams for rescue operation Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had also informed earlier that out of the population of 715 in Ambegaon village around 44 houses were swept away and 160 people are feared trapped. Rahul condoles deaths in Maharashtra landslide

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday condoled the deaths in a landslide in a village near Pune in Maharashtra.

“My condolences to those who have lost loved ones in the landslide in Ambegaon near Pune. I pray that the ongoing rescue efforts rapidly reach those still trapped under the debris. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ambegaon,” Gandhi said in a message.

At least 25 people were killed and over 160 remain trapped under a hillock which crashed on a village near Pune early Wednesday.

Model Kate Moss reportedly boarded a flight from Turkey to London “drunk”. She was also not carrying her boarding pass.

Moss, 40, turned up at Bodrum Airport intoxicated and held up a queue of passengers waiting to board the flight to London after appearing to forget her boarding pass, reports dailymail.co.uk.

“The general consensus was that she didn’t have a ticket but after chatting to the manager for some time she was whisked off and ushered on to a flight,” an eyewitness was quoted as saying.
