Ingredients

White bread
Cheese thinly sliced
1 cup fruit chutney or regular mint chutney
Butter

Method

Take slices of bread (choose our quantity) and coat them well with butter on both the sides. Now take a pan and sauté bread until it turns crisp brown.

Apply chutney on the inner side of bread, place a slice of cheese and savor them with hot dip.

Know why living near fast food joints can be dangerous

People living in communities with higher prevalence of fast-food restaurants were significantly less able to enjoy pleasurable activities that require savouring, a new research has found.

“If you want to raise kids where they are less impatient, able to smell the roses and delay gratification, then you should choose to live in a neighbourhood where there is a lower concentration of fast food restaurants,” explained Sanford DeVoe, an associate professor at University of Toronto.

Even packaged fast food is enough to raise people’s impatience, researchers said.

Shias in UP seek Azam Khan’s removal

The Shias here have asked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to clear ambiguities in Waqf Board appointments, allegedly been done at the behest of Urban Development and Wakf Minister Azam Khan.

A meeting between Shia cleric Kalb-e-Jawwad and the chief minister took place late Wednesday in which the issue was discussed.

Sources said the Shia community is divided over the appointments, alleging that Azam Khan was bribed for them.

“The people being appointed to the board are corrupt and would lead to large scale malpractises,” Kalb-e-Jawwad told IANS.

Sensex down 33 points in early trade ahead of expiry

The benchmark BSE Sensex declined by over 33 points in early trade today as participants indulged in reducing their positions ahead of monthly expiry in the derivatives segment.

The 30-share barometer, which had gained 96.19 points in yesterday’s trade, slipped by 33.59 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 26,053.83 with IT, banking, realty, teck and power stocks leading the fall.

On similar lines, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty fell by 14.25 points, or 0.18 per cent, to 7,777.15.

Indian filmmaker Dev Benegal’s dark comedy “Dead End” was named the best project at the Network of Asian Fantastic Films.

The story of a man, who is declared as dead by a shady government department and has to take extreme measures to prove that he is alive, was co-written by Benegal and Sarat Rao. Satish Kaushik Entertainment and Benegal’s August Entertainment will jointly produce the mmovie.

The Bucheon Award is worth $15,000, reports variety.com.

Satyakam Arya, Vice-President, Procurement DICV, will move to MFTBC (Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation), Japan, as Vice-President, Procurement, Daimler Trucks Asia.

Death toll in Gaza crosses 1,300, UN school hit

At least 92 Palestinians were killed today, including 20 at a UN-run school, in fierce fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and the death toll sharply rose to 1,323 despite the Jewish nation agreeing to observe a four-hour humanitarian pause.

Israel continued to pound Gaza from air, land and sea overnight. At least 17 people were killed and more than 200 wounded in the latest Israeli airstrike on a crowded shopping area in the southern city of Khan Yunis.

Pune landslide: Toll rises to 23, rain hampers rescue efforts

The death toll in the landslide at Malin village near here rose to 23 this morning even as rescue workers resumed operations, which were hampered during the night due to rains and poor visibility.

As many as 44 houses were crushed in Malin village, situated in Ambegaon taluka, some 120 kms from the district headquarters here in Western Maharashtra, by the massive landslide that occurred yesterday morning trapping about 160 people under the debris after large parts of a hillside collapsed on them.

Lupin Q1 Profit up 56% at Rs. 624.7 Cr on higher US, India sales

Drug firm Lupin has reported a 55.74 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 624.7 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2014, mainly on account of robust sales in the US and India.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 401.1 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Lupin Ltd said in a statement.

Consolidated net sales of the company also rose to Rs 3,284 crore for the quarter under consideration as against Rs 2,420.7 crore for the same period year ago.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Athletics Australia has acted quickly to dismiss Hollingsworth after he released a statement criticizing Pearson on the eve of her 100 meters hurdles title defence.

Hollingsworth is said to have acted without the consent of his federation, and for them, the timing and context of the statement was sufficient reason to sack him.

Woman killed in acid attack

A woman died of severe burn injuries after a village muscleman allegedly threw acid on her in Katihar district, police said today.

Dayawati Devi used to deposit money with one Kalu Singh at Ragamatia village. When she demanded her money back, Singh got angry and allegedly poured a bottle of acid on her yesterday.

Local people rushed to the place after hearing her scream and took her to Barsoi sub-divisional hospital where she died, police said.

Dayawati Devi was living with her daughter as her husband had left her several years ago.

Richard Lee Norris, who underwent the extensive operation which involved receiving his teeth, jaw and part of his tongue from a donor said that when he was disfigured, people used to stare at him all the time, the Daily Express reported.

The 39-year-old man said that now after the operation, hardly anyone pays attention, unless they know him personally.

A new study has revealed that having five daily portions of fruits and vegetables lower the risk of death, however having more than five has no effect at all.

The study, which contradicts a previous study suggesting that seven or more daily portions of fruits and vegetables were linked to lowest risk of death, found that average risk of death from all causes was reduced by 5 percent for each additional daily serving of fruit and vegetables, while risk of cardiovascular death was reduced by 4 percent for each additional daily serving of fruit and vegetables.

A new study has revealed that consumption of drinks, which have been sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup or sucrose, in teenage can impair the ability to learn and remember information.

The study found that when adult and adolescent rats were given daily access to sugar-sweetened beverages, the rats that consumed the sugar-sweetened beverages for one month performed normally in tests of cognitive function; however, when consumption occurred during adolescence the rats were impaired in tests of learning and memory capability.

A new study has revealed that eating tree nuts can help in reducing two of the five markers for metabolic syndrome that could lead to life threatening problems such as strokes and heart diseases.

Tree nuts include almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, coconuts, hazelnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, walnuts, pine nuts and pistachios but not peanuts, which are legumes. The paper found that there was a “modest decrease” in blood fats known as triglycerides and blood sugars among people who added tree nuts to their diets compared to those who ate a control diet.
