Woman dies after delivering child at roadside

A woman delivered a child at roadside at Nallakunta. However the woman died after delivering the baby. It is said that 25-year-old Kavita who resided along with her husband Akhil at VSI area. The couple lived on footpath. Yesterday evening Kavita gave birth to a child but later her condition became critical and she died while undergoing treatment. Nallakunta police is investigating the case.

Two children dead, two hurt in Bihar house collapse

Two children died and two others were injured when a newly built house collapsed at Giddha village under Alauli police station in Bihar’s Khagaria district today.

The victims were inside the house when it collapsed, police said.

The house collapsed under the affect of sudden storm and the matter is being investigated find out whether flawed design or adulterated construction material led to the incident, they said.

Businessman shot dead in Umrangso

A businessman of Umrangso Market was killed by unidentified gunman on the Lanka-Umrangso road under Umrangso Police Station in Dima Hasao district of Assam, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place today at around 4.30pm at 26-Killo when a businessman identified as Tapan Paul (56), travelling in a vehicle from Lanka to Umrangso, was stopped and shot down from point blank range, they said.

Police were looking into the killing of Tapan Paul who had a hardware business at Umrangso market.

Former Parliamentary Affairs Minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath will be the Protem Speaker in the new Lok Sabha.

The government has conveyed the recommedation to appoint Nath, who is the seniormost member of the Lower House, to President Pranab Mukherjee, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here. The Protem Speaker performs the duties of the office of the Speaker from the commencement of the sitting of the Lok Sabha till the election of the Speaker.

Failed love affair led to suicide
(Siasat News) An 18-year-old girl, who was frustrated over her failed love affair, took the extreme step of ending her lif ming pesticide.

It is said that the deceased Supraja consumed the pesticide at her residence at Kalyanpuri and became unconscious. She was immediately shifted to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Police said that the failed love affair led her to take the extreme step. Further investigations are on.

Earliest false tooth remains dating back to 3rd century BC discovered in Western Europe

Archaeologists have discovered what could be remains of the earliest false tooth found in Western Europe.

The dental implant comes from the richly-furnished timber burial chamber of an Iron Age woman that was excavated in Le Chene, northern France, the BBC reported.

The woman, who was between 20 and 30 years old when she died, had an iron pin in place of an upper incisor tooth.

It is possible the pin once held a false tooth made from either wood or bone, which could have rotted away.

World’s heaviest human dies at 48

Once the world’s heaviest human, Manuel Uribe, has died at the age of 48 in Mexico, medical officials said.

As per Preliminary reports, Manuel Uribe died due to an irregular heartbeat and an ailment linked to the loss of fluids in his legs, an official at the University Hospital in the northern city of Monterrey said.

He had trimmed down to 867 pounds, Contactmusic reported after he was listed as the world’s heaviest human by the Guinness World Records in 2007.

Officials used a crane to move him from his home in the town of San Nicolas de los Garza because he could not walk.

Overseas Syrians cast ballots in presidential poll

Syrians living overseas started to cast ballots Wednesday in the presidential election, media reported.

Syrian nationals, mainly in Malaysia, China, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Venezuela, Jordan, Iran and Oman, would vote at Syrian embassies and consulates in these countries, SANA news agency reported.

Those abroad can vote only if they have a valid passport, legal residence in the countries they live, and had legally left Syria.

The overseas voting was set Wednesday while the domestic ballot is scheduled for June 3.

2 killed as bus falls into ditch

Twelve people were today killed and 20 others injured when a bus fell into the ditch near Uchasiya village in the district.

The bus carrying about 96 passengers was going from Bahraich to Delhi when the mishap took place on National Highway 24, police said.

The injured were rushed to a hospital where 12 died during treatment while the condition of 10 others was stated to be serious.PTI
