Bus catches fire due to Battery Short-Circuit

Passengers were frightened and ran for life when flames erupted in an APSRTC bus at Balanagar on Thursday afternoon.

According to the information, the ill-fated RTC bus was procedding to Hanamkonda in Warangal district from Wanaparthy in Mahbubnagar district. While the bus was crossing the Balanagar limits, flames erupted in the bus due to short-circuit of battery and burning of cable. The panic-stricken passengers jumped out of the bus and ran helter-skelter.
However, the alert driver, put out the flames with the help of the passersby. (NSS)

A 18 year old girl died of burn injuries which she suffered on April 27 at her residence in Seetaiah nagar of Borabanda.

40 yr old Unidentified man found murdered

The Kandukur police have found the body of an unidentified man who was brutally murdered by unknown persons.

According to Kandukur police, 40 years old man body was found in road side at kottur village of kandukur, Srisailam High way road on Wednesday. TN police probe if suspected ISI agent has links with blast

Tamil Nadu CB-CID police is working on some leads which they have stumbled upon in connection with the twin bomb blasts on the Bangalore-Guwahati Express today that left one woman dead and 14 others injured.

Sources in the investigation agency said they were also looking into whether the suspected ISI agent, a Sri Lankan national Mohammed Zahir Hussain, arrested two days ago, had any role into the blast.

However, top officials of the CB-CID wing remained tight-lipped over the investigation.

EC Spl Observer says polls free and fair in WB, LF disputes it

Election Commission’s Special Observer in West Bengal Sudhir Kumar Rakesh said today that the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in the state were free and fair, but the Left Front alleged that he had failed to deliver on his promises.

“There has been absolutely free and fair polls. The complaints and allegations are not correct,” Rakesh told reporters here.

Madras HC closes contempt proceedings against police officials

Madras High Court closed suo motu contempt proceedings initiated by it against more than 20 Puducherry Police personnel for staging a dharna against a lower court judge over denial of bail to an SI in a bribery case, accepting their unconditional apology.

Warning the police force that such things should not happen in future, it also pulled up the Union Territory Government for setting up a Commission of Inquiry into the December 19, 2008 incident without consulting the High Court and quashed the GO appointing the commission.
