TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu takes a strong objection to TRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s hate speech against him and Seemandhra people and said he will crush him under the wheels of his cycle if Mr Rao fails to keep his tongue under control.

While addressing a public meeting at the AC Subba Reddy stadium along with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Jana Sena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan on Thursday, the TD supremo said that he suspects a secret concordat between Mr Rao and YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as they do not criticize each other.

170 hurt as subway trains collide in Seoul

Two subway trains collided in Seoul Friday, injuring around 170 passengers, a media report said.

One train of subway line 2 ran into the back of another that stopped between stations because of mechanical problems near Sangwangsimni Station at around 3.30 p.m., Xinhua reported.

Some of the injured passengers have been taken to the nearby Hanyang University hospital.

Most of them have light ankle or feet injuries, officials said.

Ten ambulances have been sent to the station, officials said.

Uddhav seeks Gujaratis’ help to win state assembly polls

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray Friday sought Gujaratis’ support, a day after criticising them, to win the Maharashtra assembly elections later this year.

Thackeray said in a statement here that late party supremo Bal Thackeray always used to say that if the Marathis and Gujaratis stood united, they could create wonders.

Purandeswari indulged in ‘historic treachery’: Digvijay Singh

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh said here today that D Purandeswari has committed “historic treachery” by quitting the Congress to contest on a BJP ticket from the Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency.

Addressing reporters here on Friday, he said that though she originally came from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Congress respected her as well as her husband, by allocating tickets during 2004 and 2009 general elections, besides making her a union minister.

‘Maps in Malaysia report indicate MH370 flew to avoid radars’

Maps released as part of a preliminary report on the mysterious disappearance of the Malaysian jet indicate that the plane deliberately flew along a route to evade military radars, according to a media report.

Malaysia released the report on the missing Flight MH370 yesterday which confirmed that the plane avoided flying over land after an unexplained westward turn and flew along a route apparently designed to prevent it being detected by military radars, The Telegraph reported.

Jobless youth commits suicide at Katedhan

Failed to find a job a youth committed suicide. The incident occurred at Milardevpally police station limits where 19-year-old Dilip Kumar resorted to the extreme step after he faced mental tension for not getting job. According to police sources Dilip Kumar was the resident of Katedhan and was in search of employment. Distraught over not finding the job he committed suicide. Investigations are on.

Judge to probe Gujarat snooping case: Shinde

Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Friday said a judge would be appointed soon to probe the alleged snooping on a woman in Gujarat.

Opposition parties alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi ordered the woman’s movements to be tracked.

“The union cabinet has passed a decision to appoint a judge on the snooping case and soon he will be appointed. The matter is in process,” Shinde told reporters here.

Rajnath projecting himself as candidate for top job: Lalu

A day after BJP President accused him of being afraid of Congress, RJD President Lalu Prasad today hit back at Rajnath Singh saying that he was trying to portray himself and not Narendra Modi as the real candidate for the top post.

Singh was telling his fellow Rajput castemen that it was not Narendra Modi but he was the “real” candidate for the top post to sway them to vote for BJP, Prasad told reporters here.

Venkaiah asks voters to teach a lesson to Cong in elections

Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today asked the voters to teach a lesson to the Congress party for alleged involvement of its leaders in corruption and various scams.

“The Congress party leaders are involved in many scams who looted the nation’s money and natural resources,” Naidu alleged.

“This is the time for the people to teach them (Congress) a lesson,” he said during a road show in the city as a part of his election campaign.

“The Congress-led government has failed to fulfil its promises made at the time of 2004 and 2009 general elections,” Naidu said.

The controversy over Narendra Modi’s interview to Doordarshan intensified today with Sonia Gandhi’s political aide Ahmed Patel refuting the BJP’s PM candidate’s claims of closeness between them, saying the remarks were “baseless” and “a complete lie”.

He said Modi’s “ridiculous” claims of their meeting or the two sharing friendship were a “political stunt” to create “confusion” in the midst of election and offered to quit public life if there was any proof of having taken favours from the Gujarat Chief Minister.

The Congress on Friday called Narendra Modi a “serial liar” following the BJP leader’s reported reference to Congress leader Ahmed Patel as a good friend in an interview to Doordarshan.

“It (Modi’s comments) establishes beyond doubt that he is constantly spreading lies with a clear purpose of misleading the people, the party and the country,” Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha told IANS.

He added that Modi has a “laundry list” of having made distortions in his public speeches.

“His comment is a brazen lie. He is a serial liar,” Jha added.

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Friday accused the Congress party of invoking secularism to divert the people’s attention from issues like corruption and price rise.

“The Congress party has always tried to divert the public from the main topics and evaded questions on corruption and price rise,” Modi said at an election rally here.

“Whenever, I tried to raise the issues of employment and women empowerment, the Congress in retaliation starts taking about secularism to divert the people from the main topics,” he said.

Five Libya soldiers killed in Benghazi clashes: army

At least five Libyans soldiers were killed today in clashes with gunmen in the restive eastern city of Benghazi, military sources and medics said.

The early morning clashes broke out when armed men stormed Benghazi police headquarters, prompting a unit of special forces to intervene to push them out, an officer said on condition of anonymity.

At least five soldiers were killed and 11 others wounded as fighting broke out in several parts of the city, medics and the military source said.

The wounded were hit by gunfire, the medical source said.

India has strongly objected to Switzerland’s denial of information about account details of certain Indians at HSBC’s Swiss bank branches, in whose cases ”incriminating evidence of tax evasion” have been found here.

In a strongly-worded letter to his Swiss counterpart, Finance Minister P Chidambaram has also warned that an effective exchange of tax-related information was “extremely important” for economic co-operation between the two countries and Switzerland must honour its “rights and duties” agreed to in their bilateral Direct Tax Avoidance Convention (DTAC).

Chennai train blast: Tamil Nadu Govt. rejects NIA probe, seeks NSG help

The Tamil Nadu Government has rejected the central government’s offer to order a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the twin blasts in the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at the Chennai Central station,and instead sought the help of National Security Guard (NSG) experts.

As a result, the Union Home Ministry has ordered a team of NIA detectives not to leave for Chennai.

People suffering from asthma may be more prone to bone loss as researchers have now discovered links between asthma and a decrease in bone mineral density.

“We know prolonged use of corticosteroids in the treatment of asthma is a risk factor of osteoporosis, but we have not had definite data showing the relationship between asthma itself and bone loss,” explained Jae-Woo Jung of Seoul National University Medical Research Centre in South Korea.
