Naidu promises Dy CM post for BCs, Kapus

Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced that there would two Deputy Chief Ministers in the Seemandhra.

Addressing a public meeting here, Naidu promised that the post of Deputy Chief Ministers would be given to a leader from Backward Classes and Kapu community. He also promised to set up Kapu Commission on the lines of BC Commission. He expressed concerned over the deteriorating condition of Kapu community and admitted that a comprehensive development plan was needed for its overall development.

A 25 year old Private Employee committed suicide by hanging at his residence on Saturday early hours in Banjara Hills police limits.

According to Police, Deceased Firdaus Khan (25) a private employee S/o Rahmathullah R/o Khaja nagar of Banjara Hills committed suicide by hanging at his residence on Saturday early hours.

The family members of the man told the police that he slipped into depression due to ill health and might have ended his life over it.

Housewife commits suicide due to loneliness

A 55-year-old Housewife committed suicide by hanging at her residence on Friday night hours in Chandanagar Police limits.

According to Chandanagar police, deceased – Y Uma (55) a House wife W/o Ramana R/o Huda Colony of Chandanagar took this extreme step of by hanging herself at her residence on Friday night hours due to loneliness.

Ingredients
•Chicken,boiled and shredded 350 grams
•focaccia bread 1
•Black olives,pitted and chopped 7-8
•Barbeque sauce 2 tablespoons
•mixed bell peppers,cut into strips 1/2 cup
•Mozzarella cheese,grated 6 tablespoons
•Fresh basil leaves 3-4
Method
1. Cut focaccia bread into 3 long slices.

2. Combine chicken, barbecue sauce and mixed bell peppers in a bowl. Mix well.

3. Place chicken mixture on slices and top each slice with 2 tbsps grated mozzarella cheese.

4. Place the slices in the brick pizza oven and bake till crisp.

What became clear during the deliberations of the summit, organised by an NGO Bharat Stem Cell, was lack of awareness about the importance of donating stem cells.

Congress condemns Assam violence, blames BJP for ‘communal agenda’

The Congress Saturday condemned the violence in Assam and blamed the BJP and its leader Narendra Modi for creating a “communal atmosphere” in the country.

Party spokesperson and union minister Kapil Sibal said at a briefing at the Congress headquarters in Delhi that “I want to, on behalf of the president of the Congress party, the vice president and the entire Congress party condemn in the strongest possible terms the violence perpetrated in Assam”.

Afghan landslide: 255 bodies recovered, India offers help

Up to 255 bodies were recovered and identified following Friday’s massive landslide in the northern Afghan province of Badakhshan, sources said Saturday as India offered assistance in relief and rehabilitation efforts.

“A total of 255 bodies, including children and women, were found. They were identified,” Provincial Director of Disaster Management Department Sayyed Abdullah Homayyon Dehqan told Xinhua at the site.

Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming feels that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is good enough to continue as a captain for three years but the New Zealander is not sure “whether he can continue playing all three formats” for that long a time.

“I haven’t spoken to him on this issue. He is in fine shape and if he is fit, he can continue to lead for atleast good three to four years. Clarifying Narendra Modi’s comment on Bangladeshi migrants, the BJP today said the party would deport illegal Muslim migrants from Bangladesh in the event of coming to power.

Woman denies bringing liquor from market, set afire by husband

Irked over being denied liquor, a man allegedly set his wife ablaze in Gudha village near Jahajpur town here, police said today.

“Nati Devi (33) was set on fire by her husband Ramprasad, who had asked her to get him liquor from market yesterday. After her denial, he beat her and set her ablaze by pouring kerosene,” a police official said.

She was admitted to Mahatma Gandhi hospital where she succumbed to burn injuries late night, he said.

The husband, who is a tractor driver, has been arrested, he said.

Woman raped on pretext of job

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man on pretext of getting her a job, police said today.

The victim, who belongs to Hoshangabad, came in contact with the accused Rajesh Panchal (35) when she dialled his number by mistake earlier this week.

Panchal befriended her by saying he was like a brother to her, and would arrange a job for her in Indore.

After she arrived here last night, Panchal allegedly took her to a secluded place and raped her. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident.

Iran’s fencing champion abducted

Iran’s fencing champion Hamed Sedaqati has been abducted in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, media reported Saturday.

Sedaqati and two of his friends were driving on Khash-Iranshahr road to the provincial capital city of Zahedan Friday when they came under attack by unknown assailants, Xinhua reported citing the semi-official Fars news agency.

Sedaqati and one of his friends were abducted, while the other friend of his was killed by the assailants, according to local officials. Investigations are under way.

IPL cricket betting syndicate busted

An alleged IPL cricket betting syndicate was busted in Outer Delhi’s Rohini area with the arrest of four men including the kingpin of the gang who is a mechanical engineer, police said today.

The accused, identified as Rakesh Sethi (45), Bantu Nagpal (33), Sanjay Hasija (32) and Vishu Sethi (22) were arrested from a house by the Crime Branch during its crackdown against betting syndicates operating during the ongoing IPL season.

Heavy security planned for phase 2 of polling in AP

As many as 272 companies of the Central paramilitary forces and over a lakh personnel of the state police would be deployed for the second phase of elections in Andhra Pradesh on May 7, state’s Chief Electoral Officer Banwarlal said here today.

As many as 3.68 crore voters will exercise franchise for 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Saba constituencies in phase 2 (which will take place in Seemandhra districts), Banwarlal said.

“There are 333 candidates for parliamentary constituencies and 2,243 for the Assembly in the second phase,” he said.

MERS death toll in Saudi climbs to 107

Saudi health authorities announced today two new deaths from the MERS coronavirus, raising to 109 the number of fatalities since the disease appeared in the kingdom in September 2012.

A 25-year-old man has died in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah and a woman of 69, who suffered from tuberculosis and anaemia, died in Mecca, also western Saudi Arabia, the health ministry said.

At the same time, 35 new cases of the severe respiratory disease have been recorded, raising the number of sufferers in the Gulf state over the past two years to 396, the world’s highest tally.

3 killed as Pune-Secundarabad train runs into tractor

Three people were killed today morning and 11 others were seriously injured as Pune-Secundarabad ‘Duronto’ train ran into a tractor-trolley near the city.

Railway’s Pune Division PRO, Yogendra Singh, said, “The incident happened at railway gate no 10 between Yavat and Urli around 7.30 AM.”

“Three people are killed and 11 others were injured seriously. Railway has announced aid of Rs 50,000 for relatives of the dead and Rs 25,000 for the injured. We have instituted a high-level inquiry into the mishap” he said.

The victims were yet to be identified.

Congress won’t support Third Front to form govt: Rahul Gandhi

Congress Vice President Rahul today ruled out the possibility of his party supporting the Third Front to form the government.

“We will not support any front,” Gandhi, who was campaigning in his constituency, told reporters.

He was asked whether Congress could support a Third Front government.

“We will get the required number (of seats),” he said, while replying to queries on whether his party will explore post-election tie-ups to form the government.
