An Ex- Railway employee, attempted to kidnap a 19-year-old girl who disembarked at the Secunderabad railway station, was detained by the railway police on Thursday.
The accused, P. Paramjyothi, aged 52year-old, had t took a crack at the girl to forcefully take her out of the railway station on Tuesday midnight.
The victim, who hailed from Vijayawada, came to visit her relatives in the city, screamed, and it attracted the attention of the Railway police. According to police, they thwarted Paramjyothi plan to kidnap and rape the girl.
The government has approved 10 per cent stake sale in Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to state run ONGC and OIL at a discount of 10 per cent, which will fetch about Rs 5,300 crore to the exchequer.
“Yes, 10 per cent,” Oil Minister Veerappa Moily said when asked if the IOC share sale will happen at a discount to market price.
The sale of 10 per cent stake or 24.27 crore shares will be through an off-market transaction, with ONGC and Oil India Ltd (OIL) buying 5 per cent stake each.

Two brothers were shot dead in an apparent road rage case in Outer Delhi’s Bawana area today.
The incident took place at around 10:30 AM when the two brothers, identified as Shadab Singh and Kaptan Singh, had an argument with Rahul alias Kalu over parking of his car.
“Rahul then shot the two brothers and fled from the spot in his car. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead,” said a senior police official.

The approval for opening of the new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) was given by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) at a meeting here Friday.
These 54 KVs would be located in 53 districts of the 17 states, an official release said here.
The total cost of opening of these new KVs is projected at Rs.9.2 billion. The non-recurring costs covering constructions cost, furniture and fixtures will be Rs.7.9 billion and recurring cost covering pay and allowance and other expenses will be Rs.1.3 billion.

Government today cleared a proposal of the Election Commission to raise expenditure limits for Lok Sabha elections to a maximum of Rs 70 lakh and a minimum of Rs 54 lakh, allowing candidates to spend more on their poll campaigns.
The Commission has proposed to raise expenditure limits for assembly elections, with a maximum of Rs 28 lakh and a minimum of Rs 20 lakh in North Eastern and hill states.
According to sources, the Union Cabinet which met here considered the Commission’s proposal in this regard sent on February 17 and cleared the same.
