When will you work with us? Salman asks Rahman

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is keen to work with internationally acclaimed composer A.R. Rahman and he is awaiting for an opportunity to collaborate with the Oscar winner.

Rahman launched his new album “Raunaq” Thursday and Salman, who graced the occasion, asked Rahman: “When will you work for us?”

When asked about Salman’s desire, Rahman said: “Then he has to do movies which I like.”

Does that mean you don’t like Salman’s films?

“No, no. I like his stuff, they are so energetic and nice,” Rahman said.

Classified documents related to the alleged mass surveillance programmes, headed by GCHQ and its US counterpart, the NSA, have revealed that the agency”s Optic Nerve programme indiscriminately collected still images of Yahoo webcam chats in bulk and saved them to agency databases.

The current spell of President’s rule, which the Union Cabinet approved today on the recommendation of state Governor E S L Narasimhan, is not due to any constitutional crisis but a political crisis caused by the resignation of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on February 19 protesting the bifurcation of the state.

Kiran also resigned from the Congress party but the Governor asked him and the Council of Ministers to continue in office till alternative arrangements were made.

Barack Obama has confessed that he did drugs in school and didn’t think about the harm it could do to him.

How faraway asteroid with its moon may have formed

Researchers have said that exotic orbit for the largest Trojan asteroid, (624) Hektor — the only one known to possess a moon, may be products of the collision of two icy asteroids.

In 2006, a small team of astronomers led by Franck Marchis, astronomer at the Carl Sagan center of the SETI Institute, detected the presence of a small 12 km diameter moon around the large Trojan asteroid (624) Hektor.

Trojan asteroids are those that are temporarily trapped in regions 60 degrees in front of or 60 degrees behind the planet Jupiter in its orbit around the Sun.

Modi is a good friend, says Karunanidhi

Tejpal, six others booked for using mobiles in prison

Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has been booked for possession of a mobile phone inside prison premises, an official said Friday.

Tejpal is one of the seven inmates at Vasco’s Sada sub jail, located 35 km from here, who were found with a mobile phone during a surprise raid Sunday (Feb 23).

Tejpal, police said, was booked late Thursday under Sections 120 (b), 130 and 188 IPC and violation of other sections of the Prison Act.

Philippine Muslim peace deal to be inked ‘end of March’

The Philippine government and Muslim rebels will sign a peace deal to end one of Asia’s longest and deadliest insurgencies “by the end of March”, Malaysia’s prime minister said today after meeting his Filipino counterpart.

Prime Minister Najib Razak said President Benigno Aquino invited him to witness the ceremony when “the comprehensive agreement is due to be signed by the end of March”.

An official in the office of Aquino’s adviser on the peace negotiations confirmed the signing was targeted for the end of next month though no exact date has been set.

A once-in-a-life time dinner limited to 12 guests will be held atop the world’s fourth tallest luxury hotel here to raise money for a UN food programme.

The Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai will host the dinner at its famous helipad, 212 metres above the ground, at nearly USD 2,722 per person.

With seating limited to 12 guests, the dinner atop the Burj Al Arab helipad on March 13, will give all the proceeds
to the ‘Eat and Feed’ initiative.

Jagan to address series of meetings from Saturday

The YSR Congress Party on Friday released the tour scheduled of its president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

According to Programmes Committee Convener T Raghuram, Jagan will address a public meeting in Tirupati on March 1 and will return to Hyderabad the next day. He will address a meeting in Eluru on March 3, in Nidadavolu on March 4, in Khammam on March 5, in Narasaraopet on March 6, in Macherla on March 7. He will also conduct Odarpu Yatra in Marcherla of Guntur district on March 8.
