The Pakistani Taliban has reportedly rejected an offer by the government to play a match for peace, saying that cricket is responsible for ”turning youth away from jihad”.

This comes after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan offered to host a match with the militants to revive stalled peace talks in comments, which provoked derision on social media. According to The Dawn, Pakistan”s government entered into a formal dialogue with the Taliban earlier this month, but the process faltered after the militants executed 23 kidnapped soldiers.

Indian-American scientist develops simple paper test for cancer

In a breakthrough, an Indian- American scientist at the prestigious MIT has developed a simple, cheap, paper test that could improve cancer diagnosis rates and help people get treated earlier.

The diagnostic, which works much like a pregnancy test, could reveal within minutes, based on a urine sample, whether a person has cancer, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announced yesterday.

This approach has helped detect infectious diseases, and the new technology allows non-communicable diseases to be detected using the same strategy, it said.

Illness drives man to suicide

Dejected over ill health a man committed suicide in Cyberabad area. According to Naridmet police 28-year-old Suresh who was a mason by occupation was the resident of LB Nagar. He was ill for the past one month. Dejected over this he took the extreme step and committed suicide. According to L B Nagar police 45-year-old Satyanarayana Reddy was working at petrol pump. Yesterday night he hanged himself to death. Investigations are underway.

The Central Haj Committee and the Centre, Ministry of External Affairs have been issued notices on the PIL filed by Khuddam- Ul Haj- o- Umrah Foundation, a trust which works for the welfare of Haj pilgrims.

Man consumes poison

A man committed suicide by consuming unknown poison near Budvel Railway Station. However the reason behind the suicide is not yet ascertained.

According to Railway police Kachiguda, 45-year-old Shivaji, who was a driver by occupation was said to be the resident of Arvind Nagar. He took the extreme step yesterday night. Railway police is investigating the case.

1 kg gold recovered, burglar and accomplice detained

Marredpally police after taken into custody a burglar and property-receiver recovered 1.25 kg stole gold from them on Monday.

The duo was identified as Mir Khazam Ali Khan, 22year-old, and his partner in crime Mohammed Rawoof, 44year-old, a stolen property receiver, both are dewellers of Tolichowki.

After receiving information, the special crime team of Marredpally police nabbed Khazam Ali Khan at Secunderabad on Monday when he was making an effort to dispose of some stolen property.

New research has shown relation between acupuncture use and physical processes that could alleviate sepsis – a condition that often develops in hospital ICU’s, springs from infection and inflammation.

The researchers already knew that stimulation of one of the body’s major nerves, the vagus nerve, triggers processes in the body that reduce inflammation, so they set out to see whether a form of acupuncture that sends a small electric current through that and other nerves could reduce inflammation and organ injury in septic mice.

A new study has found association between diabetes and stroke in women, but the data does not show the same association among men.

The research by Dr Wenhui Zhao, Dr Gang Hu and colleagues at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, investigated the sex-specific association of different levels of HbA1c with incident stroke risk among 10,876 male and 19,278 female patients with type 2 diabetes in the Louisiana State University Hospital-Based Longitudinal Study (LSUHLS).

Eating vegetarian diets may help lower BP

A new study has revealed that eating a vegetarian diet is associated with lower blood pressure (BP), and the diets can also be used to reduce blood pressure.

Factors such as diet, body weight, physical activity and alcohol intake play a role in the risk of developing hypertension. Dietary modifications have been shown to be effective for preventing and managing hypertension.

The authors analyzed seven clinical trials and 32 studies published from 1900 to 2013 in which participants ate a vegetarian diet. Net differences in BP associated with eating a vegetarian diet were measured.

Afghanistan accuses Pakistan for deadly attack on Afghan soldiers

A deadly attack on an Afghan army outpost killing 21 soldiers was planned ‘outside Afghanistan’.

The ‘outside Afghanistan’ term used by Afghan officials was made to refer to neighbouring Pakistan.

Hundreds of militants stormed an Afghan army outpost in the eastern province of Kunar on Sunday, triggering a four-hour battle.

According to Dawn News, the attack is the single deadliest attack on Afghan troops in recent months by the insurgents and also left five soldiers missing.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A delegation of Communist Party of India called on collector Rangareddy and demanded temporary shelter to Burmese refugees staying in Rajendranagar. Pakistan denies Saudi govt interested in buying Pak arms for Syrian rebels

Pakistan has denied reports that Saudi government has shown interest in buying Pakistani arms for the Syrian rebels.

Talking to BBC Urdu on Monday, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam asserted that the reports were ‘baseless and have no sense’.

Saudi Arabia would reportedly be buying antiaircraft guns and anti-tank rockets from Pakistan if the deal was finalised.

Ugandan president signs anti-gay bill

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has signed into law a bill toughening penalties for gay people.

The bill includes life sentences for gay sex and same-sex marriage, but a proposed sentence of up to 14 years for first-time offenders has been removed.

According to the BBC, the new law has defined homosexuality, which includes touching another person ‘with the intention of committing the act of homosexuality’.

Communal Clash in Azamgarh,1 dead & 18 injured

One person was killed and 18 others injured when two communities clashed over construction of a platform of a religious place in Mohammadpur Bazar area in Azamgarh and went on a rampage, ransacking shops and setting vehicles on fire.

The husband of the village head of Rasoolpur village was constructing the platform of a religious place when the members of the other community objected to it and beat him up yesterday following which both sides clashed and indulged in heavy brickbatting, police said on Tuesday.
