Two RR district TDP MLAs are in touch with KCR

Dealing a blow to the TDP, two senior MLAs of Ranga Reddy district are reportedly in touch with TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao for joining the TRS.
According to informed sources, Mahender Reddy and K S Ratnam, both belonging to Ranga Reddy district, were in touch with Chandrasekhara Rao for defecting to that party. However, their decision would depend on TRS merger with Congress or an electoral alliance in the ensuing elections.

Naidu agrees to admit JC brothers into party

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Tuesday reportedly gave a green signal to admit the “JC Brothers” of Anantapur district into his party. However, the former chief minister put a condition that his party cannot field JC Prabhakar Reddy from Anantapur Lok Sabha constituency as demanded, but would give him ticket to contest from Tadipatri Assembly constituency.

Regulation of civil traffic on Defence roads

A joint meeting was held between the Army, civil authorities and the Police on 24 Feb 2014 at the Army Ordinance Centre to review the restrictions being imposed on civil traffic on the defence roads of Army Ordnance Centre and other station units.

No need to postpone Assembly polls: JC

Former minister J C Diwakar Reddy has said there was no need to postpone the Assembly elections in the light of division of the State.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Diwakar Reddy said Macharla in Guntur district was the most suitable place to locate new capital for the residual Andhra Pradesh State. He said there are plenty of resources available to develop Macharla on par with Hyderabad city. Telangana formation day to be decided tomorrow

The formation day of the two new states following bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh is likely to be decided at the crucial meeting of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.

Though both the Houses of parliament have recently passed the A.P. Reorganization Bill, 2014 paving the way for the formation of a Telangana State, the Presidential Order from Rashtrapathi Bhavan is yet to be received by the MHA, which only then can issue a gazette notification announcing the date on which the new States would officially come into being.

VHP has no political agenda: Pravin Togadia

Development ignored in UP, despite Centre giving funds: Sonia Gandhi

Blaming Samajwadi Party for lack of development in Uttar Pradesh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said though the Centre is providing funds, the works are not being carried out by the state government.

Gandhi said the Centre’s responsibility is to send funds, but the development works have to be carried out by the state government.

Politicians not a threat to media: Omar Abdullah

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said politicians aren’t as much of a threat to the “independent media” as “spare cash” being used to “mop up” electronic and print media groups.

Omar made this observation against the backdrop of the raging controversy over Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s attack on sections of the electronic media.

He also raised a question as to whether there could be a media freed from “deep pockets and other vested interests”.

BJP does not treat minorities as instrument of political power: Arun Jaitley

Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said on Tuesday that his party treated Muslims as equals and not as instruments of political power.

Writing on his official site Jaitley said, “An organized campaign has gone on for several years to create a fear factor amongst the minorities about the BJP. The party workers amongst minority community members have faced an uphill task in the past trying to convince members of the minority community that the BJP has no prejudice against them.”

KCR meets Prime Minister

TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao on Tuesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking an early creation of Telangana state.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader thanked the Prime Minister for his support in passing Telangana bill in Parliament and urged him to ensure that appointed day or formation day of the new state is fixed at the earliest.

The MP, who was accompanied by other TRS leader, also submitted a memorandum, demanding some sops for the accelerated development of the new state.

Assembly polls in AP, Telangana along with General Elections: EC

The Election Commission on Tuesday made it clear that Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh including the Telangana region will be held along with Lok Sabha polls, rejecting reports to the contrary.

Highly-placed Commission sources said as per law the Commission is constitutionally mandated to hold elections to the Assembly whose term is ending on June 1.

Congress bosses searching for successor to Kiran

The Congress High Command is engaged in a vigorous search for a suitable successor to Kiran Kumar Reddy, who had resigned as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh recently, in order to install an interim government in the State at the earliest.

Since there has been overwhelming opposition from all quarters for bringing the State under President Rule, the Congress leadership seemed all set to install a government and hence began a search for a suitable candidate to be appointed as Chief Minister keeping in view the ensuing 2014 elections.

PIL filed in High court over political crisis in state

Public interest litigation (PIL) petition was filed in the High Court regarding the political uncertainty prevailing in the State and pleaded for either imposition of President Rule or installing an interim government to resolve the crisis.
A senior advocate Krishnadeva filed the PIL which was admitted by the High Court. The petitioner named Governor E S L Narasimhan, outgoing Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana, Leader of the Opposition Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty as respondents.

Harassment drives girl to suicide

A 16-year-old-girl committed suicide by hanging at her residence on Monday.

According to Raidurgam police, deceased A Hemalatha (16) Housekeeping D/o late Narasimha a resident of Gachibowli hanged herself to death at her house on Monday, The family members told the police that she resorted to the extreme step owing to harassment by a driver, Pochaiah who forcing her to marry him.

Minor student commits suicide at Karmanghat

A 11 year old student committed suicide set himself ablaze at his residence in Subhodaya colony of Karmanghat.

According to Saroornagar police, deceased V Shivanandu alias Shivaiah (11) a third standard student S/o Raju R/o Subhodaya Colony of Karmanghat came home from school and asked his elder brother Narasimhulu (13) for food. The latter asked him to wait for some time over which the boy got angry. He went inside the kitchen doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze on Feb 18, Immediately rushed to OGH for treatment where he died on Monday late night hours.

GHMC chief moots campaign for energy conservation

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has suggested that a real campaign be taken up in order to create awareness on “Earth Hour 2014 – Hyderabad unplug”.

The Commissioner held a meeting on Earth Hour 2014 along with Ajay Jain, Commissioner, Technical Education, Jayesh Ranjan, VC & MD and with all the representatives of concerned departments. Army agrees to extend relaxation in ban on civil traffic

Considering the public sentiments and the immediate constraints highlighted by the civil authorities, the Army Establishment has sympathetically considered to grant extension of additional time in a phased manner for closure of roads to civil traffic.

Over 50,000 students appear for inter practical exam

As many as 50,790 students appeared for the Practical Examinations of IPE March 2014 held at 1042 centers across the State on the 14th day on Tuesday.

Necessary arrangements were made to conduct practical exams. The Flying Squads with video cameras visited the examination centers. Examinations have been conducted smoothly and peacefully without any untoward incident, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) said in a press release. (INN)

GHMC to launch subsidized hot meal scheme in three days

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has informed that the GHMC would be launching the new scheme of subsidized hot meal at Rs. 5 on pilot basis in 3 days of time in at least one centre in each Zone. Centre clears Rs 1050 Cr for city’s drinking water projects

The Central Sanctioning Monitoring Committee (CSMC) on Tuesday cleared Rs 1050.80 crore to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for five major water supply projects.

The funds were sanctioned to HMWSSB under the Transition Phase of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The decision to this effect was taken during the CSMC’s meeting held at New Delhi on Tuesday.
