Finally Kejriwal moves into Delhi house

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has finally shifted to his new official residence in the city – C-II/23, Tilak Lane – from adjoining Ghaziabad city in Uttar Pradesh.

The house, near the Patiala House court complex, is a 15-minute drive away from the secretariat from where the city government functions.

“All his belongings have been shifted and it (Saturday) was his first day in the house,” a close aide of Kejriwal told IANS.

The house, spread over an area of 1,600 square feet, has three bedrooms, two servant quarters and a common garage.

Opposition BJP today said the ruling Congress government has neglected the indigenous people of Assam by nominating Lok Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh Sanjay Sinh for the coming Rajya Sabha election here.

Indian arrested for selling liquor in Saudi Arabia

An Indian national was arrested with 144 bottles of homemade liquor on the streets of the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, according to a media report today.

A police patrol apprehended the expatriate red-handed with 12 cases of liquor in his car near Malaz intersection in the city.

Police searched the car after getting a tip-off from an unidentified caller, who complained the man was selling liquor at various points in Riyadh, the Arab News reported. It did not say when the man was arrested.

Lookout notice issued against Yash Birla in cheating case

A lookout notice has been issued against industrialist Yash Birla in connection with a cheating case registered here against his firm Birla Power Solutions, police said today.

The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police issued the lookout notice yesterday, said a police officer.

The case was first reported on December 31, 2013 when the Marine Drive police registered a cheating case against Birla Power Solutions Pvt Ltd for allegedly duping a Worli-based businessman of Rs one crore by not repaying his fixed deposit investment on maturity.

A new study has revealed that thousands of wealthy mothers are quitting their jobs to look after their children themselves, instead of using childminders or nurseries.

The research, which is commissioned by the Department for Education, has revealed that that the percentage of families in the top 20 per cent income bracket using formal childcare has fallen from 67 per cent to 60 per cent in just a year, the Independent reported.

Childhood depression ups heart attack risk in adulthood

A new study suggests that children with depression are more likely to be obese, smoke and be inactive, which could show the effects of heart disease as early as their teen years.

The research, by University of South Florida Associate Professor of Psychology Jonathan Rottenberg and his colleagues at Washington University and the University of Pittsburgh, suggests that depression may increase the risk of heart problems later in life.

The researchers also observed higher rates of heart disease in the parents of adolescents that had been depressed as children.
