David Beckham fan of house building game

Former Soccer star David Beckham says playing childish games sometimes helps in calming a stressful mind.

David, 38, who has four children with wife Victoria, 39, said his sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are a big fan of the building games, reported Daily Express.

“The last big thing I made was Tower Bridge, it had about 1,000 pieces. I think Lego( a building game) sometimes helps to calm me down,” David said.

“I love doing it. My boys are the same – they’re obsessed with building Lego,” he added.

Minister Azam Khan’s buffaloes stolen, UP Police in tizzy

Uttar Pradesh Police went into a tizzy after thieves stole senior state minister Azam Khan’s seven buffaloes from a barn here but managed to rescue the cattle today following an intensive overnight search.

Dog squads, crime branch sleuths and police personnel of various police stations raided slaughter houses and meat shops to collect clues about the stolen bovine, worth several lakhs of rupees, Superintendent of Police Sadhna Goswami said.

Woman advocate marries life convict

It was wedding bells for a life convict in a murder case, who married a 27-year-old woman advocate here today with the Madras High Court granting necessary permission and 10 days leave for the groom.

Families and friends of the bride Aruna and bridegroom Somasundaram attended the wedding at a marriage hall in Vysarpadi here and blessed the couple, sources said.

The bride had earlier filed a petition in the Court and sought special leave for a month from prison for her groom, after which a Division Bench passed the order, granting Somasundaram 10 day leave.

Muslim groups urge govt to pass bills related to minorities

Muslim organisations have urged the Union government to pass the bill to check encroachment of Waqf properties and other bills related to minorities in the next Lok Sabha session.

“It seems the government will pass the bill related to the Waqf properties in the coming session. But there are other important legislations related to minorities like the Communal Violence bill and Equal Opportunities Commission bill. We demand that the government pass all these bills in the last days of its tenure,” All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat’s President Zafarul Islam Khan said.

Sikhs hold protest against Rahul’s remarks on 1984 riots

Over hundreds of Sikhs staged a protest against Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh started his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir here today.

Demanding a reinvestigation into the riots cases, the protesters blocked the Jammu-Pathankot highway in Digiana area for over an hour ahead of the PM’s arrival.

“We have moved a PIL in the Supreme Court. We have demanded constitution of Special Investigation Team and reopening of the investigation into the case,” Sikh leader S S Wazir told reporters.

Widow ‘raped’, 1 held

A 42-year-old widow was allegedly raped by a man in Hisra village in Palamau district today, a senior police officer said.

Charku Korwa (30) allegedly barged into the house of the woman when she was alone and commited the crime, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ajay Kumar said.

Police arrested Korwa, he said.

The woman has been sent to Sadar Hospital, Medininagar for medical check-up.

AP CM, other leaders to lobby against state’s bifurcation

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and other leaders plan to press their case on Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation with top leaders in Delhi, it was announced here today.

The AP Chief Minister told reporters here this evening that time has been sought to meet President Mukherjee on February 4 or 5 to press his demand against bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the YSR Congress should join the efforts to keep AP “united”, like they did during the recent assembly session when the Telangana Bill was rejected.

Jailbreak in Libya, 54 detainees escape

A Libyan security official says that over 54 detainees have escaped from a prison in the capital Tripoli due to a security failure.

Judicial Police Lt Col Ahmed Abu Kara said in a today statement that the escapees smashed the building’s rear protective windows, while guards were distributing the inmates’ breakfast. He said the prison was short five guards at the time of the yesterday breakout.

Abu Kara says jails overseen by the Judicial Police have been plagued by repeated prison breaks. In July, over 1,000 detainees escaped from al-Kweifiya prison near the eastern city Benghazi.

BJP MLA accused in 2011 Rudrapur riots declared absconder

A BJP MLA, who has been on the run for the past three-and-half months after issuance of an arrest warrant in connection with communal riots here in 2011, was today declared an absconder, police said.

“Following recommendations of the CB-CID, Rudrapur MLA Rajkumar Thukral has been declared an absconder,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mohan said.

Police have also announced a reward of Rs 2,500 on information leading to the arrest of Thukral, he said.

Thieves decamp with articles worth Rs 72 lakh

Thieves broke into a house near here and decamped with articles worth Rs 72 lakh, including gold ornaments weighing 300 soverigns, police said.

The thieves had gained entry into the house by breaking open the back door, police said.

Besides the gold ornaments, a Rolex watch worth Rs four lakh, audio system and television set were also stolen.

The theft was noticed this afternoon when the owner returned and found the back door broken.

Police teams look for 3 more accused in UP, Haryana, Punjab

Investigators have identified three more persons who allegedly assaulted Nido Tania, the youth from Arunachal Pradesh who died following an attack by some shopkeepers in the Lajpat Nagar area here in an incident which has triggered nationwide outrage.

According to a senior officer, several teams of Delhi Police have been sent to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab to trace the trio. Two shopkeepers have already been apprehended in this case.

Umar Akmal granted bail today

Young Pakistan Test batsman, Umar Akmal was today granted bail by a judicial magistrate with his lawyer claiming that they could file a case against police high handedness and injustice soon.

Akmal, who spent the better part of yesterday in the Gulberg police station in lock-up after being involved in an incident with a traffic warden Zeeshan Muhammad, told reporters he was shaken by the incident.
