Gujarat riots and Babri Masjid case reflects BJP’s hatred: Tariq Anwar

Commenting on the recent spat of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi party, National Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Monday said that the BJP was based on hatred, and that the Gujarat riots and the Babri Masjid issue were the best examples to prove that.

“The BJP and its supporting parties are based on hatred as they only want to create problems in country,” said Anwar.

“The Gujarat riots and the Babri Masjid cases are the best examples of that. This party just believes in the divide and rule policy,” he said.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allowing some of its key leaders, including Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley, to topple its government in Delhi.

Addressing a press conference here, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said Modi and Jaitley were trying to destablise the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP Government in the national capital.

“The BJP is scared of the AAP’s rising popularity. Narendra Modi, Arun Jaitley and Harshvardhan are conspiring to bring down the Delhi Government,” Singh claimed at a press conference.

Sensex down 90 points in opening trade on Monday

The benchmark BSE Sensex fell over 90 points in opening trade today on selling by foreign funds and retail investors, triggered by a weak trend in the Asian region.

The 30-share barometer fell by 90.36 points, or 0.44 per cent, to 20,423.49. The index had gained 15.60 points in the previous session.

Stocks of IT, consumer durables, realty, capital goods and oil and gas sectors led the fall.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 26.10 points, or 0.43 per cent, to 6,063.40.

Spectrum auction begins, 8 telcos in fray

The third round of spectrum auction started today with eight telecom companies in fray, from which the government expects to garner at least Rs 11,300 crore.

“The auction started at 9 am today,” an official source said.

The Department of Telecom has put on block around 385 MHz of radiowaves in the 1800 MHz band, and 46 MHz in the 900 MHz band.

As per the rules of the auction, every company has been given quota of 240 minutes to extend bid round. This means throughout the auction, each company can extend auction round by total of 4 hours.

Woman charged with trying to kill her husband with poop in US

A 65-year-old woman in Arizona has been arrested on attempted murder charges after she put feces in her husband’s IV line and tried to kill him.

Rosemary Vogel’s 66-year-old husband was already in critical condition as he recovered from heart surgery at the Chandler Regional Medical Center.

Rosemary is a registered nurse and was a hospital employee at one time, according to police.

She somehow got poop into a syringe and appears to have inserted into her husband’s IV, according to KTVK-TV.

Gujarat girl writes to Sonia to get father’s body back from Pak

A 12-year-old daughter has written a letter to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi asking to help her in bringing the body of her dead father back to India from Pakistan.

Bhavika Shiyal came to know about her father Bhikha Lakha’s death on January 4 after he died in Karachi jail on December 19.

Lakha died in a jail in Karachi on December 19 and his family was informed about this on January 4. Bhavika’s mother Devuben passed away two years ago and she is currently staying with her aunt, along with her three-year-old brother Pinak.

Mother watches child, relatives swept away in Sicily river

An Italian woman watched aghast as her seven-year-old daughter and two other female relatives were swept to their deaths today when an overflowing river in Sicily engulfed their car, media reported.

The family members were all travelling in the same small Lancia hatchback before dawn when it was grabbed by the rushing waters in eastern Sicily.

‘UP SHRC received 8 complaints on riots’

Four months after the riots in Muzaffarnagar that claimed over 60 lives, the Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission said it has received eight complaints which were being processed.

According to an RTI reply, the SHRC received eight complaints in connection with the violence in September last year that left thousands homeless, and it said the complaints were being processed.

The National Human Rights Commission received a complaint from International Human Rights Council, after which it asked for a report, the RTI reply said.
