APPSC postpones Dept Tests Nov-2013 exams by a day

The Andrha Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to hold the Departmental Tests, November – 2013 Session Examinations from February 10th to 15th.

These exams were earlier scheduled to be held from February 9th to 14th. However, they have been postponed by a day in view of conduct of Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) examination on February 9.

CM to participate in T-protest at New Delhi

Cong MLA takes light of disciplinary action

Congress MLA Sridhar Krishna Reddy on Monday took light of a possible disciplinary action against him by the party.

Sridhar said that he actively took part in the Samaikhyandhra agitation and therefore, he was not worried about any action by the Congress party. He said that he had resigned from the Congress party, but the same was not accepted. Adala confident of winning RS polls

Congress rebel candidate Adala Prabhakar Reddy on Monday claimed that he enjoys the support of over 50 MLAs from Seemandhra regions for his candidature in the Rajya Sabha elections.

MSME creates more than 20 lakh jobs under PMEGP

Seemandhra employees to go on indefinite strike from Feb 6

Government employees in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions of Andhra Pradesh Monday decided to go on indefinite strike from Feb 6 to oppose the central government’s efforts to table the Telangana bill in parliament.

The employees, who had gone on strike for nearly two months last year to protest the central government’s decision to bifurcate the state, announced a protest plan to coincide with the parliament session beginning this week.

Obama to travel to Saudi Arabia in March

US President Barack Obama will visit Saudi Arabia in March and meet with King Abdullah in a bid to reassure the key ally about the administration’s policies in the Middle East.

This is part of “regular consultations” between the two countries, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said.

Obama would meet the Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, he said.

SC to hear pleas against formation of Telangana

The Supreme Court will Friday hear two petitions seeking the quashing of the draft Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill for carving out Telangana on grounds that it was violative of the principles of federalism and the basic structure of the constitution.

Hizbul-linked drug module busted in Delhi, three held

A drug trafficking racket, associated with terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, has been busted here and three traffickers were arrested with 10 kg heroin valued at Rs.35 crore, police said Monday.

One of the three arrested men was identified as police constable Khurshid Alam from Jammu and Kashmir.

Alam and two men from Tamil Nadu – B. Ganesh and M. Senthil – were arrested with the heroin from Nizamuddin area in south Delhi.

Police said the drug syndicate’s kingpin is based in Kuwait and is known as Ali.

Taj city residents complain of contaminated water supply

The Taj city has been battling a water crisis with supply hit since the last 10 days and whatever quantity trickling in into homes highly contaminated, say people. Officials on Monday however said the situation was set to improve in the next two days.

Complaining that the water supplied from the century-old Water Works is contaminated and stinking, people have taken to the streets to protest the authorities’ failure to repair a sluice gate at Hindon river leading to industrial effluents flowing into the Yamuna.
