Kidnapped toddler rescued

The Central Zone Police rescued Vaishnavi (2), who was kidnapped on January 11 from Dammalguda in Kushaiguda area on Friday. Later she was handed over to her parents. The kidnapper, Racharla Lavanya alias Pooja, 36 was remanded under judicial custody.

Vaishnavi’s father K Parashuramulu, was a vegetable vendor. Lavanya admitted that on January 11 she came to Baghlingampally to collect rent. When she was walking through the vegetable market, she noticed Vaishnavi playing and managed to whisk her away in an auto to Kushaiguda.

A team of researchers have found that most women who undergo conservative surgery for vulvar cancer experience little to no long-term disruption to sexuality and body image.

Women diagnosed with vulvar cancer are often treated with surgery that involves the removal of substantial sections of the external genitalia.

Ellen Barlow , RN, of The Royal Hospital for Women in Australia, and her colleagues interviewed 10 women who had previously been treated for early stage vulvar cancer, with a focus on investigating the women’s experiences of sexuality and body image.

Smoking linked to larger list of diseases

A new report by the US surgeon general has increased the list of diseases associated with cigarettes.

The 980-page, research-based report says smoking could cause liver and colorectal cancer, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, impaired immune function, ectopic pregnancy and erectile dysfunction, Politico reported.

In the report, acting Surgeon General Boris Lushniak described a “robust body of evidence”, which has accumulated over the past 50 years, and shown the consequences of smoking and smoke exposure across a range of diseases and organ systems.

PCB should take ownership of cricket venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah: Waqar

Former captain Waqar Younis has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take more ownership of the cricket venues in the United Arab Emirates if they want the national team to produce better results in the region.

Waqar said on Friday that since it was now a known fact that Pakistan’s second cricket home was the UAE due to teams not touring Pakistan because of security reasons, it was time the board took more ownership of the cricket venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Pakistan is one down in the three match Test series against Sri Lanka in the series being played in the UAE.

Panesar vows to use stint in Sydney grade cricket to prolong international career

England’s left arm spinner Monty Panesar is using his stint in Sydney grade cricket to showcase his credentials and prolong his international career, as he doesn’t wants last year’s Boxing Day Test be his final Test match.

Panesar played two Tests during the recent Ashes series, in Adelaide and Melbourne, but was dropped for the final match of the series in Sydney in favour of leg-spinner Scott Borthwick.

Prof. Zikrur Rahman bags country`s highest Arabic Scholar`s Award

President Pranab Mukherjee on January 17, presented the country`s highest Arabic Scholar`s Award for the year 2013 to Prof. Zikrur Rahman, director, India Arab Cultural Centre and Centre for West Asian Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia in an impressive ceremony held in the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The award carries a Certificate of Honour, a citation and Rs.500,000. Prof. Zikrur Rahman is a seasoned diplomat who has held a number of prestigious positions in the Indian embassies in the Arab World. He has also been India`s ambassador to the Palestine.

(Siasat News): Police raided Sitara Hotel at L B Nagar and rescued a woman from prostitution and arrested a customer and two organizers.

The 23-year-old woman is a dancer from the city and was forced into prostitution for the past six months. The customer Venkata Murali Krishna, 45, owner of M K Jewellers from Vijayawada, and organizers Ramya and Jogeshwar Rao from Begumpet were arrested.
