Tharoor discharged from AIIMS after receiving treatment

Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday.

Tharoor was rushed to the AIIMS after he complained of chest pain. He was given treatment for a cardiac-related problem.

Media reports had said earlier in the day that Tharoor was shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a private ward of the hospital.

Iran nuke deal monitoring to cost $6 mn, says UN

The U.N. nuclear agency has estimated that monitoring Iran’s compliance with terms of the nuclear deal reached with six world powers is going to cost six million dollars.

The report said that the IAEA can save minimal costs by reassigning some staff, but most of the funding will have to come from contributions, Fox News reports.

File FIR against BJP, Congress for accepting Vedanta donation: Court

Goa Police have been directed by a trial court to file a First Information Report (FIR) against both the Congress and the BJP state units for illegally accepting Rs.5 crore each from a foreign-registered mining company, Vedanta.

Vedanta Resources has a significant presence in the Goa mining sector.

The order, passed Friday evening by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), follows a complaint by a government servant and Right to Information activist Kashinath Shetye, who has said that political parties had erred in accepting the donation from the UK-registered Vedanta Resources.

Junior HRD Minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar, who died Friday night, had “injury marks” on her body and it is a “case of unnatural, sudden death”, a doctor who conducted the post-mortem said.

“We can say that it is a case of unnatural sudden death. There were certain injury marks on the body but we can’t divulge details at this point,” said Sudhir Gupta, one of the three doctors who performed the autopsy at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

About 1.4 million Indian workers got regularised. 250 Indians are still stuck in Saudi Arabia without valid documents while nearly 140,000 workers have returned due to the kingdom’s ‘Nitaqat’ labour policy, Overseas Indian Affairs Secretary Prem Narain has said.

“Some 250 people are still there. They are stuck because of cases related to incomplete documents,” Narain told IANS in an interview.
The government is talking to the Saudi authorities to get them back, Narain said.

Taliban attack in Kabul kills 21, including IMF official

The Taliban struck at a restaurant in Afghan capital Kabul and killed at least 21 people, including 13 foreigners and a representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Friday, the police chief said Saturday.

“A total of 21 people, including 13 foreigners, were killed in Friday’s attack on the Lebanese Restaurant in Kabul,” police chief general Mohammad Zahir told the media.

Zahir said four foreign women and an Afghan woman were among those killed in the attack. At least six people were injured, Xinhua reported.
