Irregularities in Asst. Surgeons selections

Dr. K. Narayana, State Secretary of CPI demanded the C.M. of A.P. to stop the appointments of 1142 Asst. Surgeons selected recently. A delegation of aggrieved doctors met Dr. Narayana at Makhdoom Bhavan and informed him about the irregularities in the selection of doctors. It is reported that the set guidelines and contract service rules have been set aside while issuing G.O.no 162. On seeing the recruitments, one can see that huge amounts of bribe have been taken to recruit the candidates. Dr. Narayana requested the C.M. to stop these appointments and probe into the matter.

PCB starts downsize operation, releases Bari

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started a downsizing operation as it has decided not to extend contracts of former Test captain Wasim Bari and other former Pakistan players.

According to details, celebrated wicketkeeper, Bari, former Test batsman Muhammad Illyas, former international, Moin ul Atiq and others have not been offered fresh contracts.

“The decision to not extend contracts of these employees has been taken taken at the interim management committee meeting recently,” one official said.

Telangana supporters oppose ‘Rayala-Telangana’ proposal

Telangana supporters, including the BJP, today voiced opposition to the reported proposal of forming ‘Rayala-Telangana’ state out of Andhra Pradesh.

The proposal envisages clubbing two out of total four districts of Rayalaseema region — Anantapur and Kurnool – to the Telangana region.

Some Congress leaders from the two districts have come up with this plan.

‘Cyber criminals try to steal passwords of PNB customers’

Cyber criminals tried to steal passwords of corporate and individual customers of Punjab National Bank (PNB) last week, global cyber security firm Websense said.

California-based Websense, which provides protection against cyber attacks and data theft, said it was able to block the intrusion, which involved a phishing attack.

Phishing involves sending emails purporting to be from reputable firms to unsuspecting individuals and also corporate entities to induce then in revealing personal and financial information like passwords, credit card numbers, etc.

Decomposed body of woman recovered in Faridabad

Haryana Police today recovered a highly decomposed body of a woman near the hilly areas of Manger-Kot village in Faridabad district.

The unidentified woman’s body has been sent for post mortem and the cause of death is yet to be known, they said.

Dhauj station in-charge Jaibir Singh said that upon getting information by a passerby about a decomposed body lying near the village, a police team went on the spot and recovered the body.

They suspect that the body had been lying there for a couple of days.

Rajnath seeks PM’s intervention for relief to sugarcane farmers

BJP president Rajnath Singh Sunday sought the intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to get pending payments of sugarcane farmers released and ensure that sugar mills get on with crushing in cane producing states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

In a letter to the prime minister, Rajnath Singh also accused the United Progressive Alliance government of not helping farmers who had committed suicide in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region this year.

BHEL commissions first supercritical thermal unit in Bihar

State-run equipment major BHEL Sunday commissioned its first 660-MW supercritical thermal unit at NTPC’s Barh power plant in Bihar.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said its 660 MW Boiler Turbine Generator (BTG) unit for Stage II Unit 4 of state-owned generator National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) thermal project attained full load.

“The super critical steam parameters for this project – efficiency and heat rate – are better than those of comparable supercritical projects presently under installation by others,” a BHEL statement said.

2 constables suspended for ‘misbehaving’ with BJP candidate

Police tonight suspended two constables for allegedly misbehaving with the family members of BJP candidate from Jodhpur city constituency at a polling booth here after voting was over.

According to the police, family members of BJP candidate from Jodhpur city constituency, Kailash Bhansali, today got into a brawl with the police at a booth after polling was over.

“They misbehaved with the police and uttered abusive words to the officers on duty,” said an official.

The police then took them to Shastri Nagar police station.

Sharif assures Karzai access to top Afghan Taliban leader

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has assured Afghan President Hamid Karzai that his negotiators will be allowed to have access to senior Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the foreign ministry said Sunday.

Sharif visited Kabul Saturday and assured Karzai his country’s full support to the Afghan-led peace process, Xinhua reported.

The Afghan government-backed High Peace Council’s chairman Salahuddin Rabbani met Mullah Baradar in Pakistan last week and Sharif assured more such meetings in future.

Karzai accuses US of halting military supplies over pact row

Afghan President Hamid Karzai today accused the United States of halting essential supplies to some Afghan army and police units in order to pressure the country to quickly sign a key security pact.

The interruption of fuel and equipment had occurred “two or three times”, according to a statement issued by the presidential office following a meeting of the national security council, attended by Karzai.

As a result of the interruptions, the affected units had “ceased their operations”, according to the statement, adding Washington had violated its commitments in these areas.

Egypt draft charter approved for referendum

Egypt’s new draft constitution has been approved for a referendum billed as the first stage in a “democratic transition” promised by military-installed authorities after Islamist president Mohamed Morsi’s July ouster.

“Now we have approved the draft,” Amr Mussa, the head of the 50-member constitution-drafting panel, announced on live television yesterday.

“The draft will be given to (interim president) Adly Mansour on Tuesday,” he said, adding: “Long live Egypt.”
