Sonia Gandhi to launch development projects in Rae Bareli

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will visit her parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli on Monday to launch various developmental schemes.

She will lay the foundation stones of various projects and inaugurate a reverse osmosis plant.

The deficiency of asparagine synthetase, which is found in meat, eggs and dairy products, caused by rare genetic disorder affects development of the brain.

Since Asparagine is naturally produced by the body, it was considered non-essential until now.

However, researchers at the University of Montreal and its affiliated CHU Sainte-Justine Hospital found that the amino acid is essential for normal brain development.

UK man calls 999 after getting toilet roll holder jammed in his butt

A man, from Newport, South Wales, had to seek emergency medical assistance after getting a toilet roll holder stuck up his bottom .

The unidentified man called 999 from his mobile after he found himself unable to move with the holder inside, the Mirror reported.

After firemen rescued him from the dilemma, the man was given “suitable advice” to avoid getting into a similar situation again. (ANI)

Nancy Smith from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, has suffered from flaky skin, lank hair and severe dehydration due to her addiction, but now claims that she is feeling better after kicking the habit, Metro.co.uk reported.

The 45-year-old mother of four said that she used to run around like a mad woman dashing here and there and cleaning the house after feeling energetic from the caffeinated beverage.

Princess Michael of Kent has claimed that Princess Diana’s ghost would have given Kate Middleton the “wobblies” had she moved in her late mother-in-law’s old flat at Kensington Palace with Prince William .

Immediately police rushed to the spot after rescue the deceased dead body found from the Nala and the body was shifted to Gandhi hospital mortuary.

Kerala jailbirds busy on Facebook

Three inmates of Kozhikode Jail in Kerala, under trial for the brutal murder last year of a former leader of the CPI-M, T.P. Chandrasekheran, were found to have posted photographs on Facebook.

TV news channels in the state have now picked up the pictures, and a discussion has begun about what jail inmates should be allowed to do.

Kodi Sunni, Kirmani Manoj and Mohammed Shafi, among the 36 accused in the murder case, posed within the jail premises, wearing shorts and sunglasses, and posted their photographs on Facebook.

Udhav expels five-term Shiv Sena MP for dissidence

The Shiv Sena Monday sacked senior leader Mohan Rawale, at five terms its longest serving Lok Sabha MP, for dissidence, a party spokesperson said.

The expulsion was ordered shortly after Rawale addressed a press conference in which he launched a no-holds-barred attack on the party leadership and alleged that the Shiv Sena was becoming “a party of touts”.

The developments came just four days after a stern Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray made it clear that all those who did not like his leadership were “free to leave the party”.

‘CBI cases, CAG comments led to policy paralysis in Oil Min’

CBI cases against DGH and adverse comments by CAG had led to near policy paralysis in the oil ministry, its Joint Secretary (Exploration) has said.

SHO killed, two cops injured as militants attack police party

A police officer was today killed and two other cops were injured in a militant attack outside Chadoora police station in Budgam district of Kashmir.

Militants opened indiscriminate fire on the police party, injuring three policemen, including Station House Officer Sub Inspector Shabir Ahmad, police said.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where the SHO succumbed to his wounds, police said.

The other two injured policemen have been identified as Constable Mohammad Shafi and SPO Firdous Ahmad.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Ministry for juveniles in heinous crimes to be tried as adults

In a significant move, Women and Child Development Ministry has proposed that juveniles above 16 years of age involved in heinous crimes like murder or gang rape should be tried as adults under the Indian Penal Code.

The proposal is part of a draft note being prepared by the Women and Child Development (WCD) ministry for Cabinet nod, sources said here.

“The proposal is expected to be finalised in next few days,” they added.

Tehelka case: BJP leader Vijay Jolly to appear before police, NCW

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Jolly is expected to present himself before Delhi Police for a third time on Monday since he defaced the name plate at the residence of former Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury.

He will also appear before the National Commission for Women on the same issue.

Delhi Police had questioned Jolly on Friday and Saturday and the latter asked him to appear again on Monday to record his statement in the case.

Cong rejects Modi’s call for debate on Art 370

Dismissing his call for a debate on Article 370 of the Constitution, Congress today advised Narendra Modi to discuss the issue first with Sangh Parivar, saying there is already “clarity” in the ruling party about it.

Party General Secretary Digvijay Singh also said that he “does not take Modi’s statement very seriously” as the BJP’s Prime Miisterial candidate “keeps changing” it from one place to another.

Minor girl raped, two arrested

A minor girl has been allegedly raped here over a period of 10 days after being confined, police said on Monday.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested in the connection.

The girl arrived here from Secunderabad some days ago and visited the local Kanakadurga temple, where she came in contact with one of the accused, police inspector Hanumantha Rao told reporters.

He lured the victim to his house nearby and sexually assaulted her. Later a friend of the accused forced himself on her.

Man held for sexually harassing teenage daughter

The police have arrested a man on the charge of sexually harassing her 19-year-old daughter in Guwahati, the police said today.

The BA 1st year student, a resident of Six Mile area here, lodged an FIR in Dispur police station yesterday that her father was sexually harassing her for the past three months.

The girl also complained in her FIR that her father, a shop owner, was also physically assaulting her regularly.

The man was arrested under Section 354 IPC (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty). He was remanded to jail custody by a local court.

Victory in Delhi certain, says BJP

Expressing great confidence of winning the Delhi assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday said its party workers would now focus on bringing voters to polling booths.

“The anti-Congress wave, a swing towards the BJP and better coordination at the booth level will ensure that the BJP forms the government in Delhi with a sizeable majority,” Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said Monday.

“For the next two days, we will focus on individual booths,” she said.

SBI to raise up to $1.5 billion via share sale

State Bank of India, the country`s largest lender, will raise up to 95.76 billion rupees through a share sale to institutional investors or a follow-on public offer, it said in a statement late on Friday.

It plans to raise another 20 billion rupees through sale of shares to the government on a preferential basis.

SBI posted its steepest quarterly profit fall in more than two years in the three months to September as non-performing loans increased, putting pressure on the lender to raise funds quickly.

Glasgow helicopter crash death tolls rises to nine

The number of people killed after a helicopter crashed into a pub in Scotland’s biggest city Glasgow rose to nine, police said on Monday.

Officers continue to sift through the wreckage at the site where a police helicopter crashed into the roof of a packed pub on Friday, trapping many inside in choking dust and debris.

Deputy Chief Constable Rose Fitzpatrick said in comments posted on the Police Scotland Facebook page that the toll had increased.
