Telangana ministers oppose Rayala-Telangana

Andhra Pradesh ministers from Telangana region Wednesday made it clear to the Group of Ministers (GoM) on bifurcation of the state that people of Telangana would not accept a Rayala-Telangana state at any cost.

The ministers sent a letter to the GoM, expressing their shock over media reports that the GoM was seriously considering a proposal to merge two of the four districts of Rayalaseema with Telangana to carve out a Rayala-Telangana state.

India was different: Khar on 2011 visit to India

Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar today said her first visit to India in 2011 was a “different” experience and she was “not deterred” by statements made about her style.

“This is a natural process. Your vision has to be clear and I was not deterred by statements. One shouldn’t get overwhelmed by such statements,” Khar said when she was asked how she coped with media reports that spoke about her style and accessories that she carried.

India was different, she said, as she compared her media coverage here to that in her country.

The possible impact of political greenhorn AAP on major contenders Congress and BJP was the subject matter of animated discussion among the voters at different polling stations during Delhi Assembly elections today.

Several families standing in queues, awaiting their turn to cast their votes, were found debating over whom to vote for and appeared divided.

Telangana bill, security to top NDA agenda in parliament

A bill to create Telangana state would top the agenda of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in parliament’s winter session starting Thursday besides the issues related to security, safety of women and the 2G spectrum allocation, said party leaders Wednesday.

The NDA met here in the evening after senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders met in the day to chalk out their strategy for the coming session.

“The NDA wants the Telangana bill to be introduced in the winter session,” BJP’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.

Class X girl foils residents’ bid to defame her family

A Class X girl, whose mother had accused the Fatehgarh Sahib SHO of misbehaving with her daughter, today confronted a group of people who gathered here in support of the policeman and tried to defame her family.

A group of people, including some women, assembled near Bachat Bhawan here and alleged that the girl’s mother is involved in flesh trade and had earlier levelled false charges against a few others.

YSRCP slams Krishna River Water Disputes Tribunal verdict

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Honorary President Y S Vijayamma held a public meeting here today in protest against the recent verdict of the Krishna River Water Disputes Tribunal, saying it is against the interest of Andhra Pradesh.

“The tribunal’s verdict has come before the probable announcement, as the Centre does not want the litigation to be pending, before it goes ahead with the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. This gross injustice of bifurcation as well as the tribunal verdict cannot be accepted and we have to fight against these,” a YSRCP release quoted her as saying.

Don’t include two Rayalaseema dists in Telangana: Cong MP

Telangana Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar today urged his party’s central leadership not to include two districts from Rayalaseema in the proposed new state in view of opposition from political parties.

“Don’t include the two districts (Ananthapur and Kurnool). Don’t say Rayala-Telangana. Please execute as per the earlier decision by UPA or CWC or Union cabinet,” he told a press conference here.

Cong MPs insist ON ‘T’ with 10 Districts only

Telangana Congress M Ps Ponnam Prabhakar and Gutha Sukender Reddy have made it clear that the people of the region wanted Telangana state with ten districts only and all the political parties in the region too wanted it.

Ponnam told the media at Delhi today that they would convey the same to the GoM. Ponnam and Sukender Reddy said that the people waged the movement for T state with ten districts and it was not proper to create hurdles in creation of the State.

Stay granted on Tribunal verdict: Minister

Minister for Secondary Education K. Parthasarathi today said they have obtained a stay from Supreme Court on the verdict of Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on the sharing of the river Krishna surplus waters.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Parthasarathi made it clear that they would launch judicial struggle in the Apex court against the gross injustice caused to the AP by the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal judgment over sharing of Krishna waters.

Asserting that holy town of Bhadrachalam was part of Seemandhra region, Parthasarathi said he committed to the united Andhra Pradesh. (NSS)

Nobody wants Rayala T, says Sukhendar

Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhendar Reddy here on Wednesday said the people of the Telangana region were not seeking Rayala Telangana State.

Speaking to the media here, Gutha said nobody in the Telangana region was ready to embrace the “factionists” and were totally opposed to Rayala Telangana proposal being circulated mischievously.
The people of the region want a Telangana State without any strings with Hyderabad as its capital, he added. (NSS)

“SAMAIKYA” Students held at Secretariat

Representatives of Samaikyandhra Students JAC on Wednesday attempted to lay a siege to the Secretariat in protest against the Centre’s decision to bifurcate the State to carve out separate Telangana State.

When some “Samaikya” students reached the main gate of the Secretariat and resorted to sloganeering against division of the State, the police intervened and took them into custody. Samaikyandhra Students JAC convener Adari Kishore Babu and others participated in the protest. (NSS)

Discoms submit New Tariff proposals to ERC

Distribution Companies (Discoms) on Wednesday submitted proposals to hike electricity charges for 2014-15 to the Electricity Regulatory Commission.
In their report to ERC, the Discoms have stated that while the annual expenditure during 2014-15 will be Rs 52,753 crores, the annual revenue receipts will be Rs 36,345 crores leaving a deficit of Rs 16,409 crores for the four Discoms in the State.

BJP, CPI support T Bandh today

The BJP and the CPI have extended their full support to the Telangana Bandh call given by the TRS on December 5, to protest against the proposal of Rayala-Telangana state.

BJP state President G Kishan Reddy said the Centre should explain why the decision of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) for formation of Telangana state with 10 districts has been modified.

Errabelli opposes Rayala Telangana

Telugu Desam Telangana Forum convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Wednesday strongly oppossed the proposal of Rayala Telangana.

Speaking to media persons here, Errabelli said that the Congress party was trying to cheat the people of Telangana by mooting the Rayala Telangana proposal. He said no major political asked for Rayala Telangana and all pro-Telangana parties and groups were clear in their demand that they want Telangana State with 10 districts with Hyderabad as its capital. He said the Rayala Telangana talk was nothing but an attempt to sabotage the Telangana statehood demand.

CHSS to hold national workshop on ‘Counter Terrorism’

The Centre for Human Security Studies (CHSS) in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Police Academy (APPA) is organizing a three-day national workshop on “Counter Terrorism” from Thursday.

Guntakal MLA bats for Rayala Telangana

Guntakal MLA Madhusudan Gupta on Wednesday welcomed the proposal of formation of Rayala Telangana.

Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Gupta said that the Rayala Telangana would address the concerns of drinking and irrigation water needs of Anantapur and Kurnool districts. He claimed that a majority of people in Telangana region and also the two districts were in favour of Rayala Telangana. However, he alleged that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao was opposing the move due to his own political reasons.

Professional Colleges Management Assn supports TRS Bandh call

The Professional Colleges Management Association has unanimously resolved to support the Telangana Bandh on December 5 called by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao against the Centre’s move on Rayala Telangana.

Therefore, the member colleges of PCMA including engineering, MBA, MCA, B Pharmacy and B Ed colleges would participate in Thursday’s bandh in support of TRS. (INN)
