Demand to take Nizam Sugar Factory under Centre’s control

(Siasat News) Mr. G. Rajaiah, General Secretary of A.P. Sugar Mazdoor Sang demanded the Central Govt. to take Nizam Sugar Factory under its control. He recalled that the legislative sub-committee submitted its report about Nizam Sugar Factory 4 years back to the Govt. but no action has been taken so far by the State Govt. Demand to cancel roaster system from Urdu Medium

German Bakery blast:HC to hear death confirmation appeal first

The Bombay High Court on Thursday said it would hear the applications seeking re-investigation and retrial in the 2010 German Bakery blast case only after hearing the death confirmation petition of the lone convict Himayat Baig.

“We will first hear the confirmation petition and appeal filed by Baig against the conviction on merits. After that we will consider the intervening applications,” said the division bench of Justices P V Hardas and P N Deshmukh.

The HC would decide date for final hearing on January 8.

Last leg of Land distribution today

New book probes Bhutto murder failures

A new book brings to a wider audience a theory of cover-up, sweeping blame and staggering security failures behind the 2007 assassination of Pakistan’s ex-prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Author and Chilean diplomat Heraldo Munoz headed a damning UN report in 2010 that said Bhutto’s death could have been prevented and that Pakistan deliberately failed to investigate properly.

Now a UN assistant secretary general, his book “Getting Away with Murder, Benazir Bhutto’s Assassination and the Politics of Pakistan”, goes on sale in the United States next week.

Swiss expert insists Arafat poisoning likely despite France

A French report ruling out poisoning in Yasser Arafat’s 2004 death has a glaring inconsistency, the co-author of a Swiss probe said today, sticking by his team’s conclusion that the Palestinian leader was likely killed.

“Our data lean more towards the thesis of poisoning than in the opposite direction,” Professor Francois Bochud, head of the Lausanne Institute of Applied Radiophysics, told AFP.

‘India not informing people that mobile phones pose no threat

India is not forthcoming in informing the people that mobile phones and towers pose no threat to health and they do not cause brain cancer, WHO’s Radiation and Environmental Health Unit’s first coordinator Michael Repacholi said today.

“The government has not been forthcoming in providing information to the general public and has been essentially mute on the issue,” Repacholi, also the chairman Emeritus of International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, said, adding that transparency reduces public concern.

Highlights of the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill

The following are the highlights of the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill, which the government said will be tabled during the winter session of parliament.

* The words “majority” and “minority” community have been removed from the bill.

* The Centre does not override state nor hit the federal structure but has a more of a coordinating role, government sources said.

Earlier, the Centre could rush forces on its own to communally disturbed areas, but now it can do so only if the state concerned demands additional paramilitary forces.
