Uttar Pradesh minister Surendra Singh Patel, who was caught slapping a boy on camera, on Monday excused himself from controversy saying the boy is his nephew and was helping him in distributing blankets. “The kid, whom I was shown hitting, is my nephew. He is a very up-to-date person. I have pushed him with affection and said to hurry while bringing the blankets. He was helping me in distributing blankets,” said Surendra Singh Patel. Earlier today, Patel was caught on camera slapping the boy during his blanket distribution drive. He further added, “It is all a big lie.

CM releases AP diary, Calendars

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday released the official Andhra Pradesh government’s diary, calendar and table calendar in the Secretariat here.

The Chief Minister released the diary and calendars, which were printed by the Government Printing Press in the presence of Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty, Printing and Stationery Special Officer Krishnam Raju and other senior officials.

Bodies of 12 victims of the Bangalore-Nanded train fire tragedy in Andhra Pradesh are yet to be handed over to their relatives, who are awaiting DNA test results, Railway officials said today.

The bodies of all the 26 victims have been identified, the officials said.

Software engineer dies under suspicious circumstances

A 23-year old Software engineer of Vipro died under suspicious circumstances at her residence at Gachibowli on Sunday.
The girl identified as Surabhi Singh daughter of R P Singh a resident of K. V apartments at Gachibowli and hailing from Uttar Pradesh. The Raidurgam police said that the woman stayed at a flat along with her friend Swetha. On Sunday her friend who found her unconscious state and rushed her to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. Actual cause of death was not known yet.

Mayor pays ex-gratia cheque to wall collapse victims

GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain on Monday handed over a cheque of Rs 4 lakh to the family member of the deceased as ex-gratia for four people who were killed in a wall collapse incident.

Six persons were killed on July 23 at Street No 6, Mehendi Jung Colony, Moula Ali, Malkajgiri, when a wall collapsed on an adjacent hut due to heavy rains. The remaining two cheques of Rs 1 lakh each as ex-gratia has been handed over to the OSD to the Mayor to deposit the same at the bank duly coordinating with the family members of the deceased. (INN)

Scientists show how deadly volcanic phenomenon moves

Scientists have for the first time tracked how one of the deadliest volcanic hazards moves over time.

Pyroclastic density currents are searing hot clouds of ash and gas released by volcanoes; they travel up to 724 km per hour.

Their speed and intense heat make it nearly impossible for humans to observe – anybody who got close enough to monitor one would be killed, researchers said.

But scientists from the University of Leicester have developed a novel way of reconstructing how one of these currents flowed, ‘Planet Earth’ reported.

Schumacher operated second time after suffering brain haemorrhage in ski accident

Seven times Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has been reportedly operated for the second time after suffering brain haemorrhage in a ski accident in the French Alps. The 44-year-old was said to be in a state of coma following the accident in which he hit his head. Neurosurgeons treating him have performed a second operation on Schumacher”s brain, news.com.au reports. TPJAC requests Prez to hasten T-process

The leaders of the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) called on President of India Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Nilayam here on Monday.
