Actor Hrithik Roshan is overwhelmed with the response to his latest film “Krrish 3” and is glad that this Diwali is going to be a happy one for him and his family.

“I want to thank the audience from the bottom of my heart and from the entire team of ‘Krrish 3’,” the 39-year-old said here Friday at the Gaiety cinema where he had come to watch the film with the audience.

“I am so overwhelmed that I can’t find words to thank them. I am happy and it is going to be a happy Diwali,” he added.

Pak Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud killed in U.S. drone strike

Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud has been killed in a U.S. drone strike on Friday, a senior official of the militant group confirmed.

According to the BBC, the unmanned aircraft fired four missiles targeting a vehicle near the Miran Shah town in the north-western region of North Waziristan, killing Mehsud and four other people.

A senior Taliban official said Mehsud’s funeral would be held on Saturday, the report added.

Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar criticized the drone strike, saying that this attack was an attempt to sabotage Pakistan”s peace talks with Taliban.

Michigan man seeks reward for tipping US on Laden’s hideout in 2003

A Michigan man has claimed of tipping the U.S. federal investigators about slain Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden”s hideout in Pakistan years before he was killed in a secret mission of Navy SEALs n May 2011.

Tom Lee, a 63-year-old gem merchant from Grand Rapids, is seeking a 25 million dollars reward for allegedly reporting the location of Laden”s Abbottabad compound in 2003, Fox News reports.

A letter was sent to the FBI Director James Comey in August from a Chicago-based law firm Loevy & Loevy representing Lee.

Pak says Mehsud’s killing to hit peace talks with Taliban

The Pakistani Government has said that its peace efforts with the Taliban have been jeopardized after a U.S. drone strike killed the militant group’s leader Hakimullah Mehsud on Friday.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan criticized the U.S. drone strike as an attempt to sabotage the peace process, the Daily Times reports.

The attack came just a day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced in London that they were scheduled to send a three-member team to start peace negotiations with the Taliban.

China”s manufacturing activity at 18-month high

China”s manufacturing activity has reportedly grown at its fastest pace since the past 18 months in October.

The official Purchasing Managers” Index (PMI), which determines the sector”s growth, rose to 51.4 from 51.1 in September, the BBC reports.

According to the report, the manufacturing sector is a key component of China”s economic growth and a PMI reading above 50 indicated boom in the sector, which signaled a recovery in the world”s second-largest economy.

Obama, Maliki discuss counter measures for `more active” al-Qaeda in Iraq

President Barack Obama has spoken to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki on his visit to Washington on counter measures for a “more active” al-Qaeda in the latter’s country.

Maliki has reportedly asked for Apache attack helicopters and other equipments from the U.S. and expressed an “urgent” need for additional aid for Iraqi forces, the BBC reports.

However, Obama has not offered any kind of military aid, the report added.

Maliki has blamed regional power vacuums for a recent resurgence of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Obama also stressed the importance of an inclusive and democratic Iraq.

A footballer and two men in UAE have been jailed for two years each for having sex with three prostitutes at knifepoint in their flat after they brawled over the fees.

Modi meets kin of Patna serial blasts

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Saturday met the family of Rajnarain Singh, one of the six people killed in serial blasts that took place just before he was to address a rally here Sunday.

After meeting Singh’s kin at Kamarji village near Gaurichak in Patna district, Modi left for Kaimur district to meet family of another blast victim, police officials said.

Modi arrived here late Friday to meet the families of those killed in a string of explosions and spent his night at the state guest house, which was virtually turned into a fortress.

11 killed, 17 injured in blast at fireworks factory in China

Eleven people have been killed and 17 others injured in a fireworks factory explosion in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The explosion occurred in Sanbao Township of Cenxi City, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Eleven people died after emergency treatment failed while 17 others remained in hospital for further observation.

The manager and the legal representative of the factory have been arrested, local officials said.

Wakf Board gets Rs. 10 crore grant

Govt. of A.P. issued G.O. Rt. 3858 yesterday releasing Rs. 10 crore to Wakf Board to facilitate it for providing amenities at Dargah Hazrath Shaheed in Nellore. In another G.O. no. 195 Rs. 20 lakh have been sanctioned for the construction of Urdu Ghar in Chegunta mandal of Medak district. Director of Urdu Academy has been instructed to release the funds to collector of Medak for this purpose.

A.P. Open University degree courses spot admission at Shehkar College

According to a press note issued by the coordinator of the Study Center of B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad spot admissions for B.A., B.Sc and B.Com courses (English and Urdu Medium) are in progress for the academic year 2013-14. Girl students can seek admissions by paying a late fee of Rs. 500, from 5-11 November. All the girl students who have passed intermediate , Urdu Fazil or any other equivalent examination, may join first year of the course. Such of the students who have not paid their tuition fee for second and third years may pay with a late fees of Rs. 500.
