Pakistan Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud buried

Pakistan Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud, who was killed in a US drone attack Friday, was buried in North Waziristan, Geo News reported Saturday.

Mehsud’s uncle, driver and other aides were also killed in the attack, the report said citing sources.

They were also buried in different parts of North Waziristan.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Markazi Majlis e Shoora (Central Advisory Committee) would appoint a new chief, it said.

Umar Khalid, Maulana Fazlullah and Khan Said alias Sajna are under consideration for the top slot, the report added.

President Barack Obama had “never considered” replacing Vice President Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton during 2012 election campaign, an official said.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney responded to the reports in the forthcoming book “Double Down”, saying that if the idea had been brought to Obama, he would have laughed it out of the room, Politico reports.

Pakistan Taliban appoints new chief

Pakistan Taliban Saturday appointed Khan Said Sajna alias Khalid as its new chief after a US drone attack killed its former leader Hakimullah Mehsud in Pakistan’s North Waziristan region Friday, a media report said.

A meeting of the Pakistani Taliban’s Shura (Council) named Khan Said Sajna as Mehsud’s successor, the Dawn reported.

Said, 36, is credited with masterminding the 2012 jailbreak in which the Taliban freed 400 inmates in Bannu city, the report added.

In a scathing attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, senior BJP leader and former minister Giriraj Singh on Saturday said like a “dehati aurat” (rural woman) he was quarrelling with Narendra Modi out of “jealousy”.

“He is behaving like a dehati aurat (rural woman) and quarrelling with Narendra Modi out of jealousy,” Singh told reporters at Patna airport after Narendra Modi flew for Gaurichak to meet family of blast victim Rajnarain Singh.

Situation continues to be tense in Muzaffarnagar

Tension prevailed in Mohammadpur Raisingh village here where three persons died three days ago in communal violence.

Police and paramilitary forces continued to patrol the area.

“We are taking all precautionary measures to check disturbance in the area,” SP, Muzaffarnagar, H M Singh said.

Three persons were killed on October 30 night as communal violence erupted at Mohammadpur Raisingh village under Budhana police station. Eight persons have been arrested and cases have been registered against 15 people in this connection.

Pak says Mehsud’s killing to hit peace talks with Taliban

The Pakistani Government has said that its peace efforts with the Taliban have been jeopardized after a U.S. drone strike killed the militant group’s leader Hakimullah Mehsud on Friday.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan criticized the U.S. drone strike as an attempt to sabotage the peace process, the Daily Times reports.

The attack came just a day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced in London that they were scheduled to send a three-member team to start peace negotiations with the Taliban.

Snowden seeks international help to persuade US to drop espionage charges against him

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has reportedly sought international help in a bid to persuade the US to drop its espionage charges leveled against him for leaking highly classified data about the alleged mass surveillance programmes.

Snowden is said to have written a letter, which German lawmaker Hans-Christian Stroebele revealed, in which the former has claimed that he would testify before the US Congress about the NSA surveillance and might also help German officials investigate into the alleged US spying in Germany, but only when and if the US drops the said charges.

(Siasat News): In a bizarre incident a security guard in Madhapur was brutally murdered by his associate security guard.

According to inspector Madhapur Mr. Venkateshwarulu, the slain security guard Mohd. Ghousuddin aged between 25 to 30 years. Resident of Siddique Nagar in Madhapur got killed in an attack by his colleague. Both of them were associated with a construction company in Kothaguda.

Pirates off the coast of Somalia and the Horn of Africa have made $339 million- $413 million in ransom profits, fueling a wide range of criminal activities on a global scale, a UN-backed report said.

“Pirate Trails”, the report was produced by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Bank and Interpol.

It uses data and evidence from interviews with former pirates, government officials, bankers and others involved in countering piracy, to investigate the flow of ransom money paid out to Somali pirates operating in the Indian Ocean, reported Xinhua.
