Transparency in the implantation of Educational and Economic Development schemes for minorities

Commissioner of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Shaik Mohammed Iqbal, IPS told that Allah (SWT) has provided him an opportunity to take part in the educational and economic development of Minorities. Health Card- Deepavali gift for employees and pensioners

Representation to implement section 371(J) in Karnataka soon

RTA seized 42 private buses

RTA Officials seized 42 private buses due to the violation of transport riles during the past 3 days in the wake of Mahboob Nagar Bus accident. They seized 16 bus in Eluru, 9 Guntur, 6 in Adilabad, 5 in Medak and 2 each in Nizamabad, Krishna and one each in Nellore and Ananatapur districts.

Mosques in Karwan, Rajinder Nagar, Serilingampally and Maheshwaram facing danger

Due to the negligence of Wakf Board many old mosques around the city of Hyderabad are in danger. They are in dilapidated condition and no repairs are being undertaken. These mosques were neglected after the police action. These mosques are located in densely populated areas of Lal Darwaza, Jumarath Bazar, Imampura, Karwan, Shaikpet, Ghachibowli, Hitech city and Balapur. There are nearly one hundred mosques which are about to collapse. They are being neglected under a conspiracy to that the land grabbers could occupy these lands. Wakf Board should take immediate action to repair them.

Urdu Assistants post vacant in Ranga Reddy District

Protest rally against A.P. Formation Day in Nagar Kurnool

Leaders of Telangana JAC protested against the A.P. formation day on 1st November by taking out a rally. They blocked the road at the bus stand of Nagar Kurnool. Onion prices to come down after Diwali: Dikshit

Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit Saturday said the onion prices in the national capital would come down after Diwali as new stocks were all set to arrive by next week.

Dikshit, who had come to power defeating the then Bharatiya Janata Party government in 1998 riding on high onion prices, said her government has spoken to the onion suppliers from various states in the country and managed to get stock of onions to tackle the crisis.

“The wholesale price of onion will be Rs.10 whereas retail price will be around Rs.45-46,” she added.

Pakistan summons US ambassador over drone strike

Pakistan Saturday summoned US ambassador to the foreign ministry and lodged a formal protest over the drone strike which killed Pakistan Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud, the foreign ministry said.

“In order to register our concerns, the US ambassador was called to the foreign office by the foreign secretary to register our protest over the recent drone attacks,” Xinhua quoted a foreign ministry statement as saying.

The latest drone strike will have a negative impact on the government’s initiative to undertake a dialogue with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), it said.

Myanmar’s ethnic minorities agree on ceasefire plan

Myanmar’s main ethnic minority organisations reached agreement Saturday on a ceasefire plan that they will present to the government and which they say could lead to peace in the country by 2015, media reported.

The plan was signed in Laiza, capital of the northern state of Kachin, where fighting in recent days between Kachin rebels and army soldiers has triggered a rise in the displaced population.

The Kachin Independence Organisation, whose military arm is the Kachin Liberation Army, has expressed its willingness to sign the accord.

167,000 passengers affected by Los Angeles airport shooting

A total of 1,550 flights with an estimated 167,050 passengers were affected by the shooting at Los Angeles International Airport Friday, an airport spokesperson said Saturday.

The affected flights included 724 scheduled arrivals with an estimated 67,850 passengers and 826 departures with an estimated 99,200 passengers on board, Xinhua reported citing airport spokesperson Nancy Suey Castles.

Eighty-six flights scheduled to arrive at the airport were diverted to other airports.

Afghan Taliban condemn Mehsud’s death

The Afghan Taliban today condemned the killing of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Hakimullah Mehsud and described his death as “a great loss”.

The Afghan Taliban appealed to Pakistan to prevent any further “brutal” US drone attacks.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was shocked at the news that Hakimullah Mehsud was martyred in a cowardly US drone attack,” the Afghan Taliban said in a statement.

Self-regulation of media has not worked in India: Verghese

Favouring regulation of press, senior journalist B G Verghese today said self-regulation of media had not worked in the country.

“Media does need regulation. In democratic society, the media is unregulated. You cannot drive a high speed car unless you have good brakes. Here the media has power of technology …Tremendous power, but no brakes.

“It calls for self regulation, but self regulation itself has failed,” Verghese said.
