Nitish Kumar urges secular parties to fight against communal, fascist forces

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said that nation has to stand united against communal and fascist forces, and urged all the secular parties to ensure that communal harmony in this country is not disturbed.

“We have gathered to prevent communalism in the country. The nation has to stand united. There are 17 political parties here, and we must take oath that we will sacrifice our lives but not let communal harmony be disturbed,” he said at the Left -sponsored convention against communalism at the Talkatora stadium here.

Srinath calls for public debate on allegations on Team Kumble

Former India speedster Javagal Srinath today challenged former KSCA Secretary Brijesh Patel to hold a public debate on the series of allegations levelled by him and his associates against KSCA President Anil Kumble and his team.

“Let us have a good debate. You call Brijesh Patel and others. I am ready for a public debate (on all the allegations levelled by him and his team),” he told reporters here.

Patel had reportedly alleged that the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s Managing Committee was not consulted before spending nearly Rs 4 crore for KSCA platinum jubilee celebrations.

Call-centre employee gang raped in Gurgaon; 3 arrested

Three youths were arrested for allegedly gang raping a 19-year-old girl at a flat here, police said.

The victim, a call-centre employee, was allegedly gang raped by the three accused, identified as Dinesh, Navin and Satyadev at a flat in Sector 46 here, they said.

According to police, the victim was walking down to her home last night after attending a friend’s birthday party when one of the accused, Dinesh offered to drop her home on his motorcycle. As he was known to her, she accepted the offer.

No more tourist visa for commissioning surrogacy in India

Foreign nationals intending to visit India for commissioning surrogacy will not be allowed to come on a tourist visa from Friday with the Home Ministry ordering strict adherence of surrogacy laws.

In an order, the Home Ministry said several instances of foreign nationals visiting India on tourist visa for commissioning surrogacy have been reported and no such relaxation would be allowed after November 1.

AP bus fire kills 45; Police to conduct DNA tests for identity

Forty-five passengers, including a baby girl, were charred to death and seven others suffered burns when a private luxury bus burst into flames near Palem village here today.

“Charred bodies of 45 persons have been retrieved from the bus,” Deputy Inspector General (Hyderabad Range) V Naveen Chand told PTI.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 AM when the diesel tank of the Hyderabad-bound bus from Bangalore hit the railing above a culvert near Palem, around 130 km from Hyderabad on Bangalore-Hyderabad National Highway when its driver was trying to overtake a car, police said.

Latest `GPS bullet` lets police track suspect’s vehicle from distance!

A GPS tracking technology has been reportedly developed that lets law enforcement officials to track suspect vehicles from afar.

The GPS tracker allows monitoring the whereabouts of a suspect without engaging in what are often high-speed chases that can put officers, the suspects and the general public in danger.

According to DesMoinesRegister.com, the tracker is controlled with a panel equipped in the police cars and shoots a projectile that attaches with the suspect’s vehicle.

Parikh panel recommends Rs 5/litre hike in diesel prices

Diesel prices should be immediately hiked by Rs 5 per litre, the Kirit Parikh Committee has recommended while favouring reduction of the quota of subsidised LPG to 6 cylinders per household in a year from 9 at present.

The panel has recommended Rs 4 per litre increase in kerosene and Rs 250 per cylinder hike in LPG rates, Parikh told reporters after presenting the report to Oil Minister Veerappa Moily.

The panel also recommended fixed subsidy of Rs 6 per litre on diesel while favouring deregulation of diesel price in a year’s time.

3 Kenyan soldiers arrested for looting Nairobi mall during last month’s siege

Three Kenyan soldiers have been arrested for looting the Nairobi’s Westgate shopping mall during the deadly four-day siege by the al Qaeda-linked militant outfit al-Shabaab last month.

The army chief General Julius Karangi revealed that the investigation found out three soldiers with stolen property. While two have been jailed and dismissed, one is still under investigation, he said.

One member of a fire brigade was caught with mobile phones and cameras, while other was caught stealing an abandoned car from the mall’s parking lot, News.com.au reports.

A United States lawmaker has said that drone strikes in Pakistan could end the next day, if the country wanted, claiming that no such attacks take place without the approval of its government.

U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee member Congressman Alan Grayson said that he hasn’t received any evidence from the Obama administration that suggests a drop in drone strikes in Pakistan by the end of this year, Dawn News reports.

Nawaz asks Taliban to join peace talks for harmony in Pakistan

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that his government wants peace not only in the country, but the region.

The comments from Sharif came as he asked the Taliban to join the peace process and become part of the political process.

In an interview with a private TV channel in London, Sharif said that his government is serious in negotiations with the Taliban, the Daily Times reports.

He said that Interior Minister Chaurdhy Nisar had been given the responsibility for dialogue with the Taliban.

Antony holds Pak army responsible for infiltration

Expressing serious concern over infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC), Defence Minister A.K. Antony on Wednesday said nothing has happened without the knowledge and tacit support of the Pakistan Army.

As many as 45 passengers travelling in bus belonging to Jabbar Travels were killed when the bus caught fire near Palem in Mahabubnagar district while coming to Hyderabad from Bangalore. Only five people, including the driver and cleaner, survived the mishap.

Oz woman asking for compensation for sex accident at work loses claim

The High Court ruled out that she was not entitled to compensation from the federal workplace insurer Comcare as the circumstances of her injury were unrelated to her employment.

Young girl gang-raped in Gurgaon

A 19-year-old call centre employee was raped by three men here early Wednesday, police said.

The young girl was returning from her friend’s birthday party in sector 46 of Gurgaon post-midnight Wednesday, police said.

Joint Commissioner of Police Maheshwar Dayal said the main accused Dinesh offered her a lift on his bike to the nearest metro station.

Police also said that Dinesh is a property dealer and a resident of Jharsa village on the Gurgaon-Delhi expressway. His two accomplices have been identified as Naveen and Satyadev. All three men are in their mid 20s.

PM expresses sorrow over loss of lives in Andhra Pradesh bus mishap

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in a fire accident involving a bus in Andhra Pradesh.

He has extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the accident.

At least 45 passengers died when the luxury bus, travelling from Bangalore to Hyderabad, caught fire in the Kottakota Palam area of Andhra Pradesh’s Mehboobnagar District early this morning.

The bus rammed into a stationary oil tanker on the Bangalore-Hyderabad National Highway and caught fire.

Infosys denies US visa fraud claims

Indian IT bellwether Infosys Ltd Tuesday denied claims of systemic visa fraud, misuse of visas for competitive advantage or immigration abuse in the US, which accounts for over 60 percent of its export revenue.

“Claims of visa fraud or misuse of visas are untrue and only unproven assertions. The use of B-1 visas was for legitimate business purposes and not in any way intended to circumvent the requirements of the H-1B programme.

“No criminal charges have been filed against the company and no court rulings have been issued,” the global software major said in a statement to IANS here.

Sanjay Dutt leaves for Pune jail as his furlough ends

Actor Sanjay Dutt, who was on a leave of furlough, left his home for Pune this morning to serve his remaining jail term in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts.

Dutt, imprisoned at Yerawada prison in Pune, was released from jail on furlough for 14 days on October 1. Later, he sought an extension which was granted to him for another fortnight.

It is learnt that the 53-year-old actor had to undergo treatment of blood clots formed in his legs due to some ailment.

He left his house in suburban Bandra early morning at around 6.30 AM with wife Maanyata for Pune.

(Siasat News): A minor girl hit by a private school bus, died in L B Nagar. At the time of the accident, the minor was trying to board an autorickshaw but suddenly hit by a coming bus.

Police sources said that Bhavani, 5, resident of Jaipuri colony, was the student of LKG. Her parents along with her were actually living in Nagole but on the fateful day, she had left the house with her mother for Champapet.
