World Bank opens Islamic finance centre in Istanbul

World Bank launched Islamic Finance Development Centre in collaboration with Turkish government Wednesday.

The centre is expected to share information on the development of Islamic finance, to give consultancy service on Islamic finance, and play the role in strengthening the institutional infrastructure

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim inaugurated the centre at Borsa Istanbul building, Xinhua reported.

Abdul Quadeer refused bail

Former Police Constable, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Quadeer was refused bail and he has been asked to surrender on 1st November to the jail officials. Justice Ramesh Ranganathan issued these orders. Ms. Sabera Begum, wife of Mr. Abdul Quadeer had demanded a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh for her husband’s illegal detention even after completion of the period of life sentence. A.P. Abhishek Mohanthy selected Parade Commander

Mr. Abhishek Mohanthy, IPS probationer at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy has been selected as Parade Commander. He will lead the passing out parade on 5th November. President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee will take salute of the cadets. Mr. Mohanthy was selected for IPS in 2012 and he is posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (Grey Hounds). P.M. to visit flood affected areas in A.P. today

Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh is likely to visit flood affected areas of East and West Godavari and Krishna Districts. Sources indicated that due to the current political situation in A.P, the visit of Prime Minister is kept confidential. The districts, P.M. is likely to tour have been alerted. C.M. of A.P. who is touring the affected areas cancelled his visit to Hyderabad and preferred to camp at night. The tour program of Prime Minister is notified only to selected higher officials.

Gadkari slams Cong over corruption, price rise

Hitting out at Congress over rampant corruption and price rise, BJP leader Nitin Gadkari asked people to vote BJP led NDA to power at the Centre.

Corruption has created a record in the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh, the former national president of BJP said in Vijai Sankalp Rally at Bajna about 80 Kms from here.

He cited the example of coal block allocation scam among others to highlight the alleged corruption during the Congress rule.

Aamir’s role in `Dhoom 3′ is memorable: Abhishek

Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan is all praise for his ‘Dhoom 3’ co-actor Aamir Khan and says the latter’s role in the upcoming film will remain etched in people’s memory for many years.

The third instalment of the action-thriller series, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra, will hit theatres on December 20.

Abhishek (a police officer) and Uday Chopra (playing a thief) are reprising their roles from earlier editions, while Aamir plays a villain in ‘Dhoom 3’ and Katrina Kaif is his love interest.

‘Iran continues enriching uranium to 20 percent purity’

The Iranian atomic chief has said that Tehran is producing high-grade 20 percent uranium enrichment.

“The 20 percent enriched uranium and fuel plates (therewith) are being produced within the country,” reported Xinhua citing head of Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi Wednesday.

He said there has been no halt in the process of producing the fuel plates, while rejecting media reports of “alleged agreement between Tehran and the world powers” to halt the high-grade uranium enrichment.

A R Rahman to perform at Nita Ambani’s birthday bash

Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman is all set to perform at the 50th birthday celebration of Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s wife, Nita Ambani.

Most kids using smartphones or tabs before they can talk

Tech-savvy children are using mobile phones or tablet computers before they can even talk, a new UK study has found.

Some 70 per cent kids know how to use the gadgets before they even start primary school, researchers found.

By the time children are five years old, they have typically sent 116 texts and 85 emails, the study found.

More than one in four – 29 per cent – of youngsters are playing games such as Angry Birds on smartphones and tablets before they can string a sentence together, according to the study by electronic learning company VTech.

Siddaramaiah promises help to get bodies home

Expressing shock over the death of 45 people in a fire accident in a Bangalore-Hyderabad bus in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today promised all possible help in bringing the bodies back home.

“I pray to the Almighty to give strength and courage to the grieving families to bear the loss,” he said in a statement.

Most of the victims were from Karnataka.

He said Raichur Deputy Commissioner S N Nagaraj rushed to the site of the accident to provide all necessary assistance to the family members of the deceased so that they can bring the bodies back.

Narendra Modi to expand Guj ministry on Friday

Expansion of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s council of ministers will take place on Friday and six new ministers of state will be inducted.

“Expansion of the ministry will take place on Friday, in which six new ministers of state will be inducted,” Gujarat finance minister and government spokesperson Nitin Patel told PTI here today.

At present there are 16 ministers in the council of ministry of the Narendra Modi government. This is the first Cabinet expansion after the first batch of ministers were inducted in December 2012.

Bus fire snuffs out young lives, cuts short dreams

The horrific bus fire in Mahabubnagar district Wednesday snuffed out many young lives, plunging their families into gloom on the eve of Diwali.

Some of them working in Bangalore were returning home to celebrate the festival of lights while some young software professionals were shifting to Hyderabad for a better career.

As many as 45 people were killed and five injured when the Volvo bus belonging to Jabbar Travels and coming to Hyderabad from Bangalore caught fire after hitting a culvert near Palem in Mahabubnagar district.
