Urdu University’s Civil Services Entrance Test Coaching to be held at New Delhi also

According to a press note issued by Director of Civil Service Examinations Coaching Academy of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, the entrance test for admission into Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination will also be held at New Delhi. The candidates who have been allotted other centers can now write the entrance test at New Delhi with the same Hall Tickets. The entrance test will be held at MANUU Regional Center at N-64, Doctors’ Apartments, Sailing Club Road, near Khalilullah Masjid, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi-110 025 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday 6th October 2013.

Principal Secretary to C.M. transferred to Delhi

Mr. Binoy Kumar, IAS Principal Secretary to C.M. of A.P. has been transferred as Commissioner of Projects at A.P. Bhavan New Delhi. Oman hails UN resolution on Syria chemical weapons

Oman has welcomed the new UN Security Council resolution to rid Syria of chemical weapons, saying that it was necessary to start negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition.

“My country welcomes the consensus that has been achieved in the Security Council on the Syrian chemical weapons by adopting unanimously Resolution 2118 (2013),” Yousuf Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah, foreign minister of Oman, said during the General Debate of the UN General Assembly, which entered its sixth day Monday.

Lohan’s parents banned from reality show

Lindsay Lohan’s parents have been banned from coming on the actress’ upcoming reality TV show.

The actress, who completed her 90-day stint in rehab earlier in July, has struck a deal with Oprah Winfrey’s “Own” which will showcase her struggle to rebuild her life.

Myanmar wants more efforts for millennium development goals

Myanmar has called for intensified efforts and accelerated actions to fully achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for the next two years.

Agreed upon by world leaders at a UN summit in 2000, the MDGs set specific targets on poverty alleviation, education, gender equality, child and maternal health, environmental stability, HIV/ AIDS and malaria reduction, and a global partnership for development, all by the end of 2015.

Brazil, Paraguay to resume full cooperation

Brazil and Paraguay have agreed to resume full cooperation ties and strengthening of their historic regional alliance, as Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff met her Paraguayan counterpart Horacio Cartes Monday in Brasilia.

At a joint press conference after the meeting, Rousseff said it was Brazil’s third bilateral meeting with Paraguay, which is home to the third largest community of Brazilians living abroad and which shares with Brazil the Itaipu hydroelectric dam on the border, Xinhua reported.

Colombia, Israel ink free trade accord

Colombia has signed a free trade agreement (FTA) with Israel that will take effect next year, Xinhua reported.

“We signed the agreement with Israel’s Ministry of Commerce after nearly 18 months of negotiations,” said Colombian Trade, Tourism and Industry Minister Sergio Diaz-Granados Monday.

The accord marks “Colombia’s first agreement with the Middle East” country and “opens up opportunities for us in a market that though small in size has great purchasing power,” the minister added.

Colombia seizes war arsenal from FARC rebels

Colombian has seized a war arsenal from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) insurgent group in the central department of Meta, including high-tech equipments as night vision goggles and electronic sniper scope, Xinhua reported.

Tech products worth $800,000 stolen from Brazilian airport

A group of thieves made off with technical products valued at 1.8 million reais ($800,000) from the storage area at Brazil’s busiest airport, police said Monday.

The robbery was carried out about 9 p.m. Sunday at Sao Paulo International Airport in Guarulhos and was staged by about 10 people armed with handguns.

The group, wearing the uniforms of a delivery firm, arrived at the airport’s cargo area in a van bearing a company logo.

Spainish debt to near 100 percent of GDP in 2014

Spain’s public debt will reach 99.8 percent of the gross domestic product at the end of 2014, totaling some 1.05 trillion euros (about $1.41 trillion), the governmet has announced.

The public debt will rise due to the need to finance government operations, Finance Minister Cristobal Montoro said Monday during the presentation of the 2014 budget bill to Parliament.

Interest payments could total 36.59 billion euros (about $49.4 billion) next year, down 5.2 percent from the 2013 level.

Venezuela expels three US diplomats

Venezuela Monday announced that it was expelling three US diplomats, while accusing them of plotting to sabotage the economy, BBC reported.

President Nicolas Maduro said the diplomats have 48 hours to leave the country, saying “Yankees, go home!”

Maduro claimed to be having evidence that the trio participated in a power-grid sabotage in September and bribed Venezuelan companies to cut down production.

The diplomats expelled have been named as Kelly Keiderling – the charge d’affaires and the most senior US diplomat in Caracas – David Moo and Elizabeth Hoffman.

US budget shutdown entirely avoidable: Obama

President Barack Obama said Monday that a potential US government shutdown was “entirely avoidable” as only a few hours remained to avert it.

Obama criticised Republicans for trying to refight the last election as they seek to link the budget to delaying his health care law. If no agreement is reached by midnight (04.00 GMT), the government will close all non-essential federal services, BBC reported.

Iran, Iraq sign MoU for naval cooperation

Iran and Iraq have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which covers the areas of exchange of experience, training, military equipment manufacture and naval cooperation in the Persian Gulf.

The MoU was signed by Iran’s Navy Commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, and Iraqi Navy Vice Admiral Ali Hussain Ali, Xinhua reported.

During the meeting, the two commanders also stressed further joint defence cooperation.

It’s war against terror not civil war: Syria

The conflict ravaging Syria is not a civil war but “a war against terror,” the country’s deputy prime minister said Monday at the UN, while calling on the global community to act to cut off some countries’ support to terrorists in his country.

“There is no civil war in Syria, but it is a war against terror that recognises no values, nor justice, nor equality, and disregards any rights or laws,” reported Xinhua citing Walid Al-Moualem, who is also minister for foreign affairs and expatriates, during his speech at the UN General Assembly.

Netanyahu urges Obama to keep Iran sanctions in place

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged US President Barack Obama to keep economic sanctions on Iran in place to ease Israeli concerns about Washington’s diplomatic engagement with Tehran over its disputed nuclear programme.

Netanyahu will deliver a speech Tuesday at the UN general assembly.

“If diplomacy is to work, those pressures must be kept in place, ” reported Xinhua citing Netanyahu after a meeting with Obama at the White House.

UN chief slams attacks on Nigerian students

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Monday strongly condemned deadly attacks on students in northeastern Nigeria, saying that “there can be no justification for such violence”.

Ban strongly condemned the murder of students and the wounding of others by gunmen Sunday at the College of Agriculture in Gujba, Yobe State, northeastern Nigeria, reported Xinhua citing a statement issued here by Ban’s spokesperson.

At least 47 students were killed in a college in Nigeria after gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members unleashed the terror Sunday morning.

Man gets life imprisonment for murdering 9-year-old-boy

The Kendrapara District and Sessions Judge today sentenced a 25-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering a nine-year-old-boy.

The district and session judge Bijaya Ketan Mohanty convicted the assailant Bidur Baral under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code and pronounced him guilty of commission of the murder.

Besides, the court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict under section 449 (House- trespass) in order to commit offence.

Court order on Zakia’s protest petition set for Oct 28

A local court today reserved for October 28 its order on protest petition filed by riot victim Zakia Jafri against the closure report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) giving clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi with regards to the 2002 communal violence.

Zakia had on April 15 last filed a petition demanding the rejection of closure report of the Supreme Court-appointed SIT, submitted in February, as well as an order from the court to file chargesheet against Modi and others.
