Telangana RTC workers get Dasara festival loan

RTC management has issued orders sanctioning festival loan for Dasara to its employees for which APSRTC Mazdoor Union had made a representation. This information was given by the Union leaders Mr. Nageshwar Rao and Mr. Syed Mahmood. They also thanked the management of APSRTC.

Surrogacy case: HC says plaint against Shahrukh unfounded

The Bombay High Court today said the complaint filed by social activist Varsha Deshpande against Shahrukh Khan and his wife Gauri, accusing them of conducting sex determination of their third child born through surrogacy, was ‘unfounded’.

“Prima facie this court is of the opinion that it is an unfounded complaint. I am not saying it is a frivolous complaint but it is unfounded meaning without foundations,” Justice Sadhana Jadhav said.

Myanmar president calls for efforts to achieve peace

Myanmar President U Thein Sein Tuesday called on all stakeholders of the country to strive for domestic peace as early as possible.

Thein Sein made the call in his regular monthly address to the nation aired through state radio, reported Xinhua.

He said that despite efforts for peace by Myanmar’s successive governments in the past, the armed conflicts in the country never ended.

“The historical lessons teach us that cease-fire is not enough to realise eternal peace. It should apply political means to settle the root cause of the armed conflicts,” he said.

Rediscovering flavours of India through lens

Black-and-white works of two eminent Indian photographers — Shambhu Shaha, Sunil Janah and a French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson have been documented in an exhibition “(Re)discovering India: Then and Now” which explores the journey of India between 1930-1960.

The exhibition was inaugurated Monday and these reproduced 250-rare photographs are on display at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon welcomes India-Pak talks

UN chief Ban Ki-moon welcomed the talks between the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan held on the sidelines of the General Assembly here as he stressed the importance of India’s role in South Asia.

Ban met External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Monday and discussed regional developments in Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Myanmar, stressing the importance of dialogue, inclusiveness and reconciliation, as well as India’s regional role.

The UN chief “welcomed the recent talks held between India and Pakistan,” a statement issued from Ban’s office said.

Nothing confirmed about ‘Happy Anniversary’ yet: Abhishek

Actor Abhishek Bachchan has dismissed reports that he and his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will come together for the upcoming film ‘Happy Anniversary’.

‘Happy Anniversary’ will be produced by Gaurang Doshi and directed by adman Prahlad Kakkar. The makers claimed that Abhishek and Aishwarya had signed a film that would mark Aishwarya’s comeback post her pregnancy.

However, Abhishek insists that nothing has been finalised as yet.

Will run RJD as ‘Sonia and Rahul are guiding Congress’: Rabri

With Lalu Prasad in jail after his conviction in the multi-crore fodder scam case, his wife Rabri Devi on Monday said she and her son will run the RJD “as Sonia Gandhi and Rahul are guiding the Congress”.

Asked about impact of the court order on Rashtriya Janata Dal’s future, Rabri, who has had three stints as Chief Minister of Bihar, said she and her son would run the party in the absence of Lalu Prasad “as he had created the party and nourished it”.

PM arrives in Frankfurt on way to India

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived here on Monday night for an overnight halt while returning home after concluding a visit to the US.

Singh was in America where he held talks with US President Barack Obama and met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif for the first time, besides addressing the UN General Assembly.

The Prime Minister reached Washington on September 26 and held talks with Obama the next day during which they decided to expand ties in various areas including defence, energy and trade.

BJP behind the communal clashes at Muzaffarnagar, claims CPI

CPI, on Monday, accused BJP of being behind the communal clashes at Muzaffarnagar and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored CBI probe into the violence.

The demand was made by CPI at a party rally here through a resolution which also held ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh responsible for “failing” to check the riots in time due to it policy of vote-bank politics.

Addressing the gathering, CPI General Secretary G Sudhakar Reddy alleged that some political parties had played dirty politics in spreading communalism due to which the incident took place.

High Court to hear Asaram’s bail plea today

Rajasthan High Court will hear self-styled godman Asaram’s bail plea in the sexual assault case of a minor girl on Tuesday, a day after a local court had extended the judicial custody of Asaram and his attendant Shiva till October 11 . The District and Sessions judge also extended the police custody of another key accused, Shilpi, by three more days.

1 SIMI member caught, 6 on the run after escaping from Khandwa jail

In a major embarrassment for prison authorities, seven prisoners escaped from Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa jail in the wee hours Tuesday.

According to reports, the seven undertrial prisoners were members of terror outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

The police have claimed to have nabbed one of them.

The seven broke the wall of the toilet to escape the jail and in the process, attacked two constables with knives.

The police have now declared a high alert in Khandwa and adjoining areas.

Revise the decision of constructing new Hajj House near Airport- Mohammed Ali Shabbeer

China bars water-polluting projects in five cities

The Chinese government has prohibited five cities from setting up new projects likely to cause water pollution.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection has said new projects that risk causing water pollution will not be approved in counties and districts of five Chinese cities after they failed to meet pollution control targets, reported Xinhua.

The districts and counties of cities of Siping, Hefei, Liu’an, and Kunming as well as Enshi Tujia and Miao prefecture have failed to meet the standards set in a five-year water pollution control guideline released in 2012.

Boy burnt alive in Punjab town

A 12-year-old boy was burnt alive in Punjab’s Malerkotla town after being kidnapped by unidentified people, police said.

The victim, Vidhu Jain, a school student, was taken to a local hospital in the town, 110 km from here, with 100 percent burns where he succumbed to his injuries.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the boy, who was going to his brother’s school to drop his tiffin, was kidnapped by unidentified people, who poured petrol on him and set him on fire.

The incident led to protests from local residents who damaged buses and other vehicles and blocked highways.

Dowry for sister’s marriage claims brother’s life

Borrowing money for sister’s dowry claimed the life of a 20-year-old youth in the LB Nagar police limits.

According to police, the deceased, Nitish Kumar, borrowed nearly Rs 4 lakh about four months back for her sister’s marriage. He had also quit a private job at the time of marriage. However, he failed to arrange money to repay the loans as he could not find another job.

He went under mental stress and depression and therefore, he committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence in SBH Colony of Saroornagar on Sunday night, police said.

Never whistled at Aishwarya while wooing her: Abhishek

Actor Abhishek Bachchan Monday said his wife Aishwarya Rai is the beautiful woman but he had never whistled at her but courted her through his gestures, emotions, and words.

“I am used to people whistling at my wife… see my wife then you will know why I am saying this. I have never whistled at her to woo her… I don’t think its the right thing to do. I courted her through my gesture, emotions and words,” said Abhishek.

Awareness to be created for communicable diseases

Meat shops to be closed on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday

Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Mr. M.T. Krishna Babu, IAS issued orders to keep all the meat shops closed in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on 2nd October. Both the Meat shops and Beef shops in the Municipal limits of GHMC will remain close. Slaughter house of Changicherla will not function tomorrow.

Delay in formation of Telangana condemned- Dattatreya
