UK thief caught `green-faced` after breaking into police car

A police-car thief was busted by a high-tech trap set up in the car, which sprayed his face with an invisible and odourless dye that turned his face bright green under ultra violet lights.

28-year-old Yafet Askale, from Harlesden, broke into a police “trap car” in North West London, the Daily Star reported.

Initially, Askale denied a charge of theft from a motor vehicle, but was later sentenced to 49 hours of community work and ordered to pay 400 pounds, following a court trial.

Petrol slash linked to stabilizing rupee: Moily

Union Petroleum Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily on Tuesday linked the slash in petrol prices to the recent trend of the stabilization of rupee, and announced that his ministry will launch a mega fuel conservation drive on Wednesday, which is aimed at cutting the oil import bill. “The rupee has been appreciated that is why to that extent that we are in a position to manage it. That is how petroleum prices have come down,” Moily said at a press conference here.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh on Tuesday asked Congress Party President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to demand her son and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for his resignation on his controversial remarks made on the cabinet-approved ordinance on convicted lawmakers. “I would like to politely say this to Sonia Gandhi, that rather than indulging in face-saving of her party because the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not disrespect the Prime Minister, it was Congress Vice-President who disrespected the PM,” Singh said at a media conference here.

Natalie Portman has confessed that being a mum to her son, Aleph, is much more hard work than any movie role.

The ‘Black Swan’ actress told Elle magazine that she has respect for all mothers of the world as they work harder than anybody else, the Mirror reported.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a good man but is controlled by the Gandhi family, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said Tuesday.

Badal also asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win majority on its own in the next parliamentary elections, courtesy a “tsunami” in the shape of Narendra Modi.

Noting that indecisiveness and lack of leadership in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) had resulted in the collapse of governance and economy, he said Manmohan Singh was cut off from reality and does not have freedom of action.

No question of resigning: PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday ruled out his resignation following Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s outburst on an ordinance to shield convicted lawmakers.

“There is no question of resigning,” he told reporters on board his special aircraft while returning from New York after a meeting with US President Barack Obama and attending the UN General Assembly session.

He also said that he does not get “upset easily”.

Gandhi had said that the ordinance that was passed by the cabinet, headed by Manmohan Singh, was “complete nonsense” and should be “torn down and thrown away.”

Will discuss Rahul’s concerns: PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Tuesday he will discuss the concerns of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on the ordinance concerning convicted lawmakers.

“I have seen Mr. Rahul Gandhi’s statement. When issues are raised in a democratic polity, the right course is to discuss the issues,” the prime minister told media persons on board his special aircraft on his way back from the US.

Scientists have generated a X-ray beam with a diameter of barely 5 nanometres, which is ten thousand times thinner than a human hair at the X-ray light source PETRA III, at DESY.

According to the research groups of Professor Tim Salditt from the Institute of X-ray Physics and of Professor Hans-Ulrich Krebs from the Institute of Materials Physics of the University of Gottingen, this fine beam of X-ray light allows focusing on smallest details.

Toyota crowned `most valuable car brand ` for second year in row

Toyota has been reportedly chosen as the ‘Most Valuable Brand’ in the automotive sector by Interbrand for the second year in a row.

According to Interbrand’s list of top 100 most valuable brands for this year, Japanese car giant Toyota takes the most coveted top position, followed by Mercedes at number two.

Automotive brands filled 14 of the top 100 places, with Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and BMW leading the way in 10th, 11th and 12th place, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The Interbrand list also placed Toyota at the top of the ‘World’s greenest brands’ in June.

Japanese `Google-like` glasses can translate languages

Japan’s NTT Docomo has reportedly developed reality glasses that can translate languages in real time.

The company’s latest device in the wearable computing market was unveiled at a Japanese gadget fair, and developers said that the glasses could be ready for visitors to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

According to Fox News, the gadget will be able to translate unfamiliar text into the wearer’s first language, making signs and menus instantly understandable.

Al-Qaeda’s Twitter account suspended week after launch

Al-Qaeda’s official Twitter account was reportedly suspended in a week after its launch on September 24.

The official account, @shomokhalislam, garnered more than 1,500 followers since its launch and included many high-profile jihadists.

According to the New York Daily News, the Twitter profile was connected to the online Al-Qaeda forum Shumukh al-Islam.

However, the account which posted tweets in Arabic was deactivated on Sunday and error message stated that the account had been suspended.

Tech giant Google has been accused of evading around 150 million pounds of UK tax last year using clever accounting.

Critics said that Google 11.6million pound in corporation tax on 3billion pounds sales in UK in 2012.

A Google spokesman said that like most multinationals, the company also pays the bulk of its 1.2 billion pound corporate tax in the US, where the business originated.

Racist graffiti was sprayed on fences and homes of Asian and Muslims in an Australian town has sparked outrage among the ethnic community.

Anti-Muslim and Asian messages defacing a series of properties linked to tenants of ethnic origin were sprayed in the town of Ryde.

Even the laundry of one house owned by Liem Nguyen daubed with anti-Asian sentiments.

Liem owns two of the three properties in Charles St, Ryde, which were tagged with racist and religious statements, the Daily Telegraph reports.
