Britney Spears` rep claims Las Vegas shows `virtually sold out`

Britney Spears’ rep has claimed that her upcoming shows in Las Vegas are virtually sold out.

The rep told Radar Online that the ticket sales have been extraordinary and the first 16 shows of the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker are virtual sell-outs, with more than 95 percent of the tickets being sold.

Spears’ representative insisted that a total of 70,242 tickets were already sold out of the 73,600 tickets for the first 16 shows at Planet Hollywood.

Gujarat releases 285 prisoners on Gandhi Jayanti

Gujrat government today released 285 prisoners from various state jails on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, according to an official press statement here.

One hundred and fifty prisoners who were serving life terms and had undergone 12 years of imprisonment were released with the remainder of their terms “set off”, the release said.

Also released were 129 prisoners who had completed 75 per cent of their jail terms.

Six prisoners suffering from protracted illnesses, who were unable to move on their own, too, were released through ‘state pardon’.

Damian Lewis would love to take up James Bond role

Damian Lewis has revealed it would be “wonderful” to play James Bond on the big screen, while hinting that he might take up the coveted role in future.

The 42-year-old actor, who has just finished working with 007 producer Barbara Broccoli in new film ‘The Silent Storm’, told Esquire magazine that he would love to step into Bond’s shoes, the Daily Express reported.

Johnny Depp’s new girlfriend Amber Heard has admitted that she is similar to her `bad-ass Barbie` character from upcoming film ‘Machete Kills’.

The 27-year-old actress, who met Depp on the set of 2011 film ‘The Rum Diaries’, said that she loves her character, the Daily Express reported.

She said that she likes it when her characters look like one thing, but are the total opposite underneath because she can relate to that.

Prompt action on ‘DIAL 100’ calls: Cyberabad PC

Acting promptly on “Dial 100” call , Cyberabad police have registered 233 FIRs last month on the basis of calls received on” Dial 100”, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand said.

Of the total 233 FIRs, 105 calls related to accidents, 37 of petty cases, suicides, property offenders and bodily offenders 27 each, he said.

“As soon as we received the call, the police immediately would inform the concerned SHO for making response team to attend to the emergency”, Anand said.(NSS)

Excessive weight gain during pregnancy raises obesity risk in kids by 8pc

Children with mothers who gain excessive amounts of weight during pregnancy have an 8 percent increased risk of obesity by the age of 12, a new study has revealed.

David S. Ludwig, MD, PhD, director of the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center at Boston Children’s Hospital, who conducted the study on 41,133 mothers and their children in Arkansas, said that excessive weight gain during pregnancy may have a potentially significant influence on propagation of the obesity epidemic.

Chidambaram says CAD to be much lower than initially forecast

Buoyed by better-than-expected Q1 current account deficit (CAD) numbers, Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said he is confident of closing the fiscal with a better set of numbers than initially projected.

The minister also said economic growth closer to 5.5 percent should be considered very satisfactory and that there is “still some speculation” in the forex markets.

The CAD for April-June was USD 21.8 billion or 4.9 percent of GDP. The government’s target for the financial year is USD 70 billion or 3.7 percent of GDP.

ADB lowers India’s growth projection for 2013-14 to 4.7%

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has lowered India’s growth projection for 2013-14 to 4.7 percent from 6 percent earlier saying the recent rupee depreciation and capital outflows could adversely impact the country’s economy.

“With gross domestic product in the first quarter of (2013-14) expanding at its slowest pace since the global financial crisis, ADB revised down its growth forecast to 4.7 percent from 6 percent projected in April,” it said in its flagship Asian Development Outlook 2013.

Zynga wins trademark lawsuit against `Bang With Friends`

Zynga Inc. has reportedly settled a trademark lawsuit against casual sex app ‘Bang With Friends’ over charges that the latter used ‘With Friends’ in its name, which was close to the names of many games developed by the game maker.

The settlement requires Bang With Friends to change its name and rebrand its services in the near future.

According to the New York Daily News, the casual sex app’s name was familiar to Zynga’s ‘Words With Friends’ and ‘Chess With Friends’ games.

Antony Committee to visit State: Botsa

The AK Antony Committee constituted by the Congress to address the issues related to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh will soon visit the State.

Google accused of illegal Gmail wiretapping

Google has been reportedly accused of illegally wiretapping Gmail content of its users to send them targeted ads.

The search giant has been accused by plaintiffs and privacy rights advocates over the years and the lawsuits have been merged into two separate cases, questioning the extent to the company’s wiretapping via its emailing service and its Street View mapping project.
