Seemandhra: Congress MP quits party, resigns as lawmaker

Congress’s Rajahmundry MP Undavalli Arun Kumar today resigned as lawmaker and quit the party following the Union Cabinet’s decision to give nod to the creation of Telangana.

Addressing a press conference at his office here tonight, Kumar said he was deeply hurt by the Congress’s decision to divide Andhra Pradesh.

“In protest against the party’s decision, I have sent my resignation to Congress. Earlier I had quit as MP,” he said.

Jagan blasts Centre, calls for 72 hour bandh

YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday called for a 72-hour bandh in protest against the union cabinet’s approval for creation of Telangana as the 29th state.

Holding the ruling Congress and main opposition TDP responsible for the decision, he demanded that all Lok Sabha members from Seemandhra regions quit, so that the process of division could be halted.

He took exception to Centre’s decision to go ahead with the division without taking on board the resolution of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Chandrababu slams Cong, over Telangana

Terming the Union Cabinet’s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh as “high-handed”, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday accused Congress of resorting to “worst politics” and said Sonia Gandhi would remain as the “first culprit” in the issue.

Addressing a press conference at his residence late tonight, Chandrababu attacked the Centre over the manner in which it sought to go ahead with the bifurcation process without addressing the concerns of the people of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.

Website of Center for Islamic Studies and Research inauguration tomorrow

A function will be held by Rahmath-e-Alam Committee to launch Website of Center for Islamic Studies and Research at 1:30 p.m. on 5th October at Khaja Mansion function hall, Masab Tank, Hyderabad. Blood donation camp in Urdu University

National Service Scheme Wing of Maulana Azad National Urdu University organized a free blood donation camp on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on 2nd October. Dr. Khwaja Mohammed Shahid, Pro-Vice Chancellor inaugurated the camp and congratulated the students and volunteers who participated in the camp. He told that by donating blood they are serving the nation. The girls outnumbered the boys in donating blood.

Islam did not spread with the force of sword- Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi had written his impressions in his newspaper “Young India” that Islam did not spread with the force of sword. He further wrote that he has read about the life of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) who rules even today on the hearts of crores of human beings. Mahatma Gandhi wrote that it is not the sword that created a place in the heart of the people for Islam but the simplistic characters of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) with which he ruled crores of peoples.

Woman claims newborn son replaced with girl child

A woman, who gave birth at a civil hospital here, was sent home with a girl child though she claimed she had delivered a baby boy and discharge certificate given by the hospital to her supporting her claim.

Angry residents of her locality, led by BJP leader and former health and family welfare minister Satya Pal Gosain today sat on dharna outside the civil hospital, demanding that the woman’s baby be returned to her.

New conditions of Sarwa Shiksha Abhyan for Deeni Madrasas unacceptable

A meeting of the Directors of Deeni Madrasas was held at Urdu Ghar Moghalpura and a detailed discussion was held on the new terms and condition of Sarwa Shiksha Abhyan imposed on Deeni Madrasas. The participants felt that these conditions are not acceptable and they are contrary to the rights of the School. The officials of SSA were to implement these conditions under the pretext of Right To Education Act. which is contrary to its sprits.

MBT’s meeting on 6th October

Four Central Ministers and Four M.P’s of Seema Andhra resigned

After the approval of cabinet note in the meeting of Ministers yesterday, four Union Ministers and four M.Ps resigns. Two MPs also resigned from the primary membership of Congress. The cabinet meeting continued for more than two hours. Mr. K.S. Rao, Textiles Ministers spoke in support of Seema Andhra for 15 minutes and Mr. Pallam Raju, HRD Minister opposed the formation of separate Telangana for 10 minutes whereas Mr. Jaipal Reddy spoke in support of Telangana for 45 minutes. Mr. K.S. Rao and Pallam Raju announced their resignation against the formation of separate Telangana.

Neighbour held for abduction, rape of 14-yr-old girl

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped for two days by a youth from her neighbourhood, police said today.

The girl was rescued last night and the youth, identified as Vikas (22), was arrested today after the victim’s medical report confirmed rape, police said.

The teenaged girl, who lives in New Ashok Nagar, Block B, had gone missing last Tuesday after stepping outside her house, following which an FIR was lodged.
